The second time was less easy because we didn't bother to keep the bucket or make a note of its info before getting rid of it. Another mistake was not registering with the store which would have kept a record of our purchases. Lessons learned. Only one gal (Lisa) was working that afternoon, but she was super nice, knowledgeable, and patient. We were banking on the shop having our paint info so we walked in w/o any samples. We learned we were not in the system, so we talked w/ Lisa about how to get the best samples. All this might have been pretty obvious to anyone wanting to paint something a specific color, but we were exhausted that day and really wanted someone to just instruct us. Armed with ideas on how to get a good paint sample (one vertical, one horizontal) we left and returned several minutes later. Lisa was able to match the colors with high certainty and we were content to agree with her assessment. We bought a bunch of other items for deck painting and left w/ our purchases. While Lisa was helping us, she was also fielding phone calls and had partially helped 2 other folks with another guy patiently waiting. All throughout she was extremely polite and genuine. That girl was working HARD. Of course the weather hasn't been the best for a painting endeavor but at least we have our supplies at the ready.

I will say that Andy at the Lloyd Ave. store was very helpful and personable and referred me to Heather (District Coordinator secy). She was bored and uninterested when we spoke which didn't really surprise me given the general attitude of this company. With the exception of Conner (friendly, great attitude), the other young men exude an attitude of impatience, disgust and frustration. My painter overheard them while on the phone with her and was shocked. Their tone of voice and impatience with me came across loud and clear. Sadly, I wasn't the only one treated badly that day. I witnessed how another person was treated as the young men glanced snidely at each other and appeared to act as though they didn't understand him. Very immature behavior. You'll might not have a problem if you are a regular customer that orders lots and lots of paint from them.

I purchased 2 hose fittings for a total of about $30. I needed different ones from what I currently…read moreowned so I was sort of flying blind. Of course, when I got them home and took them out of the package, they were the wrong size. I took them along with my receipt back to the store the same day. The plastic shell covering the fittings was still intact and the only evidence there was that I had ever removed them was the slit down one side of each package where I detached the plastic from the cardboard backing. I was told that I couldn't return them because they had been opened?!?! They were clearly not damaged and I just wanted to trade them for the correct size. Nope. I threw them on the counter and left. I will never go back. No one in my family will ever go back. Disgustingly poor customer service from a hometown business. I'm equally close to an Ace hardware so if I need to, I'll go there. In the meantime, I logged on to Amazon and purchased BOTH FITTINGS for $7 and received them the next day. People like to complain about how superstores like Amazon and Walmart are ruining small business, but when I tried to support a small business I was treated like dirt. The funnier thing is 2 days later I went to Autozone trying to match a fuse and the employee helping me tore open a package in the same way I had at True Value and she discovered it was the wrong fuse she just taped it up and put it back. Shame on you True Value in Tell City, Indiana. You give ALL True Value locations a bad name.
