(No pictures cause I mopped it lol) The cruise itself was around 1.5 to 2 hours and our ride was incredibly smooth, although obviously that'll depend on the weather. They also offer a kamaʻāina discount if you call to book, which brought it to around $100 per person for us. Biggest downfall, all the hiking. It was straight up the mountain on this goat trail. Footing could be dangerous If you don't have good shoes, balance and pay attention. They give you a water bottle full to keep ( however not in the least bit cold). If you aren't in att least half way decent shape this adventure probably is not for you. It is a lot of physical work. Be prepared to sweat and breathe hard and carry yourself and that 10 pound trolley up the dang mountain with very little to no shade. The guys doing the actual Zipping with us were awesome! Fun and friendly! The guy at the start, when you check in and pay... let's just say he's a grump. Maybe he had a bad day, but we found his to be grumpy and just honestly rude. The details: Our tour started by meeting at tree at the Sheraton, which sounds awkward but for us was super convenient and it was fun boarding the sailboat from the beach but you will get a little wet! Captain Michael walks you though the day and then you are off for about ~90 minutes to Lanai. During that time you are served (not a buffet) two meals. The cinnamon rolls were great and the breakfast croissants are now something I make at home. There was also a photographer on board so we took advantage and took some family photos (you buy at the end and I found them a whole lot cheaper and less stress than an actual family shoot). Once you get to the Island you can take a golf cart or take a short walk to the beach where they have all the gear you need. After the safety briefing you have about 2 hours to snorkel with the crew serving as lifeguards in the water. It is VERY easy to lose where you are when you've got your head underwater. I appreciated how attentive the crew was to where the four of us were at since there were a few times we needed some gentle guidance out of a harms way (shoreline rocks). The photographer also captures your snorkel sesh. After snorkeling, you're treated to another full meal of noodles and chicken. Followed by anything you might need for a little seasickness to prep for the journey back . My 12 yo son was pretty full at this point and had befriended the captain who let him help get the boat ready for the return trip. That was very cool! The ride home was a bit bumpy (Hurricane Lowell was coming) but Captain Michael did a great job avoiding anything major and even found a pod of dolphins. We also enjoyed the mai tais! Great experience! We will book more tours in the future. I would have booked another snorkeling or sunset tour during this trip but the water quality really deteriorated with the upcoming storm.

It was such a surreal experience being deep down in the blue ocean and looking out the windows at everything happening around you. We saw so many amazing fish and one of the coolest things they explained was how the colours of your clothes actually change the deeper you go. It sounds like such a small thing, but seeing it happen in front of you was really interesting. We also got to see a sunken ship that has become a home for so many fish, and there were even sharks around it. This is definitely one of those Hawaii experiences I would recommend doing. She has a big heart and a crazy love for this island. We've lived on Maui for a couple years and she taught us some cool stuff that we didn't know. We hopped in her big van and had a fun tour to: -Ocean Vodka -Surfing Goat Dairy -Ali'i Lavander Farm -Ulupalaku Ranch + Maui wine And along the way she handed out fresh banana bread (that SHE baked!) and cold bottles of water (say what? So thoughtful!) As we drove, she would point out things like: the kinds of trees we were seeing, the history of this or that, how things had changed over the years... Interesting things that kept the conversation flowing. Her van has a microphone for her to use so it's great for people who sit in the back. We could hear everything she was saying. She made sure to open doors for guests and make sure the temperature inside the van was okay for everyone. There are different tours to choose from to hone in on where you want to go and what you want to see. She really knows her stuff and made us smile and laugh with her bubbly personality and energy. I was traveling alone and joined a group of others wonderful tourists that were part of the tour. Marilyn and Robbie were well versed in their knowledge of the history of the culture, agriculture and plants. The tour included stops at the lovely Lavender garden, Maui winery, and the Surfing Goat Dairy. Their timing was spot. One of the highlights of the tour was the lunch. It was in a lovely park, tucked away in a hillside, overlooking Maui, It was a perfect day. The real treat was when Marilyn pulled out her Ukulele and started singing lovely songs - one of which was "Somewhere over the rainbow". It was delightful. The tour ended with the other tourists departing at the airport. This was not just an ordinary curbside drop-off. Marilyn actually accompanied them to the check in counter and helped them get their bags through. This is not something that an ordinary tour company would do. I remained in the van and chatted with the delightful Robbie. I cannot thank Maui Country Farm Tours for such a memorable experience. It was truly one of the highlights of my trip, and I could not have done the trip alone. Marilyn has contacts and knows the inside scoop on how these various businesses operate. We skipped the pricey farm tour (we did coffee farm tours last year and are farmed out) and went straight to the chocolate café. They will give you a five piece tasting for free, either a dark, milk, or sugar-free flight. But why would you come here and just take... When you can also give back to folks in Lahaina rebuilding? So we got two free flights, one milk and one dark. My sweetie added on a drink, a pastry, and some very tasty chocolate and salted caramel gelato. I went with a make your own alcohol pairing, which was so much fun and very reasonable. For about $17, I got a shot of coconut rum with two chocolate pairings and a shot of premium Martiniquan JM volcanic rhum Agricole with another two chocolate pairings. And then I still had my free five pieces. What an amazing taste adventure, for cheaper than the price of a cocktail at a hotel bar or even a locally owned foodie place? I don't want to mess up your tasting - so you pick your favorites! But I normally don't like rhum agricole - and the pairings were such an amazing flavor adventure. Honestly, this is my number one recommendation in West Maui. Give the folks some business and have an amazing time! Oh, and they have jazz on Sunday nights' but I'm sure it's more crowded than than popping in during the day on a weekday. And also: the second floor tasting room has panoramic views of the ocean and around Lahaina. Check them out!

We booked the Maui Kuʻia Estate Chocolate farm tour and tasting as a family activity; me, my wife,…read moreand our two boys and I honestly enjoyed this WAY more than I expected to. It starts at their building in Lahaina, which has a little café/coffee shop, plenty of chocolate for sale, and a rooftop experience that looked interesting but we didn't get to try. By the time we finished the tour, the kids had reached the "we have successfully experienced enough things today" portion of the vacation. Fair enough. From there, you take a fun little ride out to the cacao farm, and that's where this became much more than "let's go eat some chocolate." Our guide, Andrew (I'm about 95% sure I'm remembering his name correctly!), was fantastic. He seemed genuinely interested in cacao, the process, the company, and what they are doing there. That makes such a difference. He talked about how cacao is grown and processed, the history behind Kuʻia, and a little about founder Dr. Gunars Valkirs and his rather fascinating path to chocolate. Then, of course, there was the tasting. Lots and lots of little squares of chocolate. This is educational work I was willing to undertake. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which particular varieties were my favorites because apparently I was too busy eating them to take adequate scientific notes. What I can tell you is that there really wasn't one I disliked. What surprised me most was how much flavor there could be in chocolate that wasn't buried under a mountain of sugar. The differences and complexity of the cacao actually came through, and it made me think about chocolate completely differently. The chocolate sample they gave us back at the counter was also fantastic, as was the coffee drink we ordered. My only regret is that we didn't buy more chocolate before leaving. Be warned, though: apparently this tour has side effects. I went in expecting a fun Maui family activity where we'd learn a few things and eat some chocolate. I left wondering about cacao varieties, fermentation, processing, climate, chemistry and several other questions that absolutely nobody in my family asked me to investigate.
