So, we signed up on their website, which is required. Tour groups are limited to 25 people, so it won't be crowded. We met outside the Kihei Library. Keith was there, eager to get to know us and we got to know each other. Keith is a fountain of information and had a notebook of visual aids to share with us. We had a short walk through Kalama Park and learned lots of the history of Kihei, back through the time of the Hawaiian kingdom, during World War II and the present day. The mystery of the life size Humpback Whale statue was solved. Who made it? How did it wind up here? Who adds a giant lei to it twice a year? My favorite part was learning about the Maps of the Mokupuni, and finding our Ahupua'a and Moku. The tour ended with a beautiful sunset from the seawall at Kalama Park. Please don't forget to tip your nice tour guide!

What's not to like !! I I should up this to 5 * but its not as modern as I would expect & I feel others would ding it also for the primitive vibe. If you've been to Thailand, you will get it. Some might not buy anything cuz it's all outdoors & very unlike a whole foods.... There's a purple food truck at the entrance. A friendly & tame brown goat follows you around. There are the typical shrines with elephants & a lot of plots, dirt mounds, piles of vegetation. You put your hillocks of picks into a basket. The owner calculates everything by hand. No credit card machine but we joked that she should take bitcoin. What'd I buy?...A bit of everything like carrots, japanese white yams, golden potatoes, tomatoes, mini bananas, scallions, lilikoi, oranges, iimes, lemons, and flowers for the suite. We talked to all the other locals that bought lots of other items like the pineapples, greens, jalapenos, broccoli etc. They all lived close by while we came from Lahaina, about an hour away for this adventure of a farmers market. A nice drive of Maui Hawaaian splendor was well worth it to procure all these earthly bounties! I cooked the sweet carrots & potatoes, washed the tomatoes & fruit to be ready for endless beach day (s)!! Everything was fresh, tasty & delicious. That's the best if you can get a panopoly of fresh tasty local fare. Scooping out the seeds of lilikoi right now.... Simple yum.

If you are interested in spending some time with a true gem of a person in one of the most beautiful places on Maui while exploring an expansive garden, then this is the the right place. Honestly, When Casey Shim welcomes you to his "utopia", thats exactly what it is. With high-elevation bi-coastal views of Maui island, surrounded by rolling green hills, fruit trees and flowers, up in the clouds, just standing on the property was a surreal experience. From there, you will spend time touring the garden, learning a bit about coffee and all the very many kinds of plants and fruit trees on the property. We even got to meet some horses and saw at least 3 geckos! At the end of the tour you can purchase some freshly bagged coffee as well as some coffee candy treats which were quite good. While not the traditional coffee tour you might expect, this was truly one of the highlights of our time in Kula and would recommend this to anyone open to spending some time in a beautiful place with a very very nice host.

My friend and I originally booked one day with Kelsey but had so much fun that we had to book another day before flying home. We did the Road to Hana on our first day, and West Maui on the second (before getting on our overnight flight home). Kelsey is everything you can ask for in a tour guide. She knowledgeable, flexible, keeps you safe, has everything you didn't think you need (extra towels, mosquitoe repellant, etc). She will customize any trip and that is just fantastic. On our first day, we originally wanted to do half day on Road to Hana and half day in Iao Valley. We ended up loving Hana so much that we ended up spending the entire day there. On our second day on the West side, Kelsey incorporated Iao Valley so we could still get a chance to see it! How wonderful. She also had a back up plan for our second day in case the weather wasn't nice in the West. Back up plan was to explore the south coast, and we would have been happy to do that as well. Much aloha Kelsey. My heart is overflowing. PS - she is the best photographer too! And so patient with taking all the pics you want. My friend I was traveling with hated taking any photos and having Kelsey be so open about taking your photos was the best!

It's not strenuous and you're taken back to some private land that you'd not have access to if you just drove up and parked (if you found a parking spot) and hiked back in. We had visited once before back in 2012 and remembered it being a great experience, and it's nice to see how much the farm has upgraded since then. We also bought a $10 bucket of hay to feed the goats off to the side. We were told they were under a year old, though they were already pretty much adult-sized! They were extremely enthusiastic about the hay, and the bucket was gone in no time. It was such a fun and wholesome experience, for both me and the goats. They have a patio area to sit at, and they just call your name when your tasting is ready. They give you information with the cheeses, so you know what you are trying. The shop had a nice assortment of other gifts, as well as the truffles. The truffles were definitely my favorite. You can just get one if you want, or you can pick out several to make a box to take home. We walked around and saw the area where the babies/young goats played on the surfboards, which is super cute. The adults are all over in different areas, and you will even see them on the roofs of different buildings. The tour would have been nice to learn some history and information, but it is still really nice to go without the tour. It was a fun and peaceful little experience.

We had visited before in 2012 during lavender season, which was lovely, but coming in mid-January there really wasn't much to see. Admission is $5 per person, and there's a café and gift shop on-site for souvenirs. During our previous visit, we really enjoyed the lavender scone and iced tea from the café. The views at the top are still beautiful, but I'd honestly recommend visiting only when lavender is in season to make it worthwhile. Also worth noting: it's quite windy in this part of Maui, and the terrain is very steep, so walking around can be a bit challenging.
