So, we signed up on their website, which is required. Tour groups are limited to 25 people, so it won't be crowded. We met outside the Kihei Library. Keith was there, eager to get to know us and we got to know each other. Keith is a fountain of information and had a notebook of visual aids to share with us. We had a short walk through Kalama Park and learned lots of the history of Kihei, back through the time of the Hawaiian kingdom, during World War II and the present day. The mystery of the life size Humpback Whale statue was solved. Who made it? How did it wind up here? Who adds a giant lei to it twice a year? My favorite part was learning about the Maps of the Mokupuni, and finding our Ahupua'a and Moku. The tour ended with a beautiful sunset from the seawall at Kalama Park. He goes through lots of explanation for 12 of the 30 murals in this town. We've seen these murals many years so was interesting to learn about the artists and reason behind them.
