The home of the sun! sunrise- reservations required!!! they release tickets 2 months ahead of time and then a final 50 tickets at 7 am 2 days prior- we logged in a few minutes before 7 and weren't able to book so decided on the sunset as there's no requirement for reservations- just a fee per car to enter the park- I think it was 30$. this is a must do when in maui! we enjoyed the thrilling drive with lots of twists and turns but nothing close to road to hāna . views were epic. the summit sits between layers of clouds and its chili- so bring a jacket! parking is limited so be prepared to park far and walk a bit, bring something comfy to sit on too while you watch the sun do its thing. stay a little late to star gaze- you won't regret it!

Woke up our family of 4 at 3am to make it before sunrise! Here's after the sun rose!

Sunrise at Haleakala Summit is only available 60 days or 2 days prior to your planned date. There's no in between and plan in advance as reservations typically sell out. They do check your reservation or if your name is on the list near the top. You may lose cell service so screenshot or print your reservation incase. Plan at least an hour drive up the mountain alone. Bathroom is near the top. No stops in between for a bathroom break if you're planning to go with very few, small business are not open along the way. We came on a thursday sunrise. Staying at Ka'anapali, it took us 2 hours from our hotel to drive to the Summit. Map your route and plan ahead with commute time and sunrise time. Ensure you search sunrise time specifically for the Summit! Although reservations allow you to arrive at 3am, with our family of 4 (2 kids), we decided to plan to be there an hour before sunrise. So we left at 4am and got there at 615am. Sun rays are always showing beautiful views prior to sunrise. Come early to see this!!!! As the top parking lot fills they start to close it so you only park with the lot(s) that's left. We parked at the lowest lot and walked up a rocky pathway to a higher viewing sight. From beginning till after sunrise it was so worth it. Freezing and breath taking. They also have bathrooms at the lower parking lot and view points/informational signs to read. There's an enclosed, almost 360 view at the top lot near the telescopes. Dress warm. If you're from Hawaii (like us but on Oahu) you are NOT used to the cold that is at the top. Wear layers and layers of clothing if you dont have winter clothes. Bring a blanket and warmers if you have them! I personally wore 5 layers of clothes and stuffed hand warmers into me and my boys throughout our bodies! LOL. At the bottom of the mountain temp was 65°F. When we reached and parked at the top it was 49°F. It probably got colder since we walked to a higher view point and parked at the lowest parking lot. If I could would I do this again? YES!!!! Its all about luck with clear skies and weather if you plan 60 days out though! But so worth it when you get PERFECT views.

Five stars ALL THE WAY for me! It's quite a drive starting from Kaanapali/Lahaina, but worth it. We went for sunset. You drive up a windy road for the last part and it's $30 per car entry. This line took about 10 minutes. Then more driving but only a few miles. There are several lookout points. The most popular is all the way to the summit top. Small circular parking lot for about 40 cars or so. Lookout tower. Being above the clouds is sick! They looked like a sheet of cotton balls. And at first I did have a little labored breathing but it went away after 10 minutes. We're talking 10,000 ft up Y'know. It looks kind of like another planet up there with a "space station". Took some cool pics. Once the parking is filled, the ranger blocks it off and points you to another parking area which means you walk about 10 minutes to get to that summit. And then there's another lot a couple hundred yards down from there. There's a visitor center and restrooms. But the center closes at noon. Saw some native birds up there. Another 60 cars can park here. We watched the sunset from this one. Then if you go down another two miles or so, there are 2 additional small turnouts and lookout points. Problem is from up top you don't know how busy those are. I heard they are better but the ranger said all the lookout points are amazing. By the way, it's a little chilly up here at the sunset. Bring a jacket or sweatshirt. Took a million pics and videos of the sunset then headed down before the mass exodus of cars. Which I think was smart cuz it only takes one slow car to make a looong drive down. Couldn't decide which pics to post so I tried to put a good combination.

The Haleakala sunrise is quite possibly one of the most breathtaking views I've seen. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the island. In order to view the sunrise, you will need to make a reservation online (1 reservation per vehicle) and pay a $1 fee. Tickets are released 60 days in advance at 7am HST -- I recommend booking as close to the release date/time as possible. We left Kihei at 2:30am and arrived at the summit around 4:15am. My suggestion is to arrive 2 hours before sunrise, for a couple reasons: 1) There is limited parking at the very top. Visitor center parking is available, but I believe it's worth it to snag a summit parking spot. 2) We started seeing the red-orange streak of light peeking above the horizon an hour and 10 minutes before actual sunrise. Watching the sky go from pitch black to bright daylight is nothing short of incredible, and I wouldn't want you to miss any of the beautiful gradient that appears. Watching the sun rise and the sky change colors was absolutely stunning -- a definite highlight of our trip! A couple more notes: Make sure to dress warmly and bring a windbreaker and/or blanket if possible because it gets SO. COLD. The recorded temperature won't look too cold but wind chill is REAL. Also, the road to the summit is long and winding so bring Dramamine if you get motion sickness!

I took my parents for their 44th Anniversary and we all love outdoorsy activities so I knew we'd all enjoy this! We were asked to arrive at 10:30 am for the tour and it lasted until 1-1:30 pm. Arrive with good walking shoes, SPF, light sweater and hat (it can get either a little chilly or hot from the direct sunlight), and well hydrated if possible. We were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable tourguide, Kate from Maryland! She shared with us so many facts about the locally grown produce from herbs, vegetables, fruits, to the friendly worms, to compost and facts about the Farm and the hardworking staff! It was interactive because we got to sniff the herbs, taste the locally grown lettuce, carry a chicken (as seen in the photo with my mom), and even pick the Cherry coffee! After the 2 hour tour, the last hour takes you back to this beautiful seating area in a garden like setting for your 4 course lunch! Each course, the chef comes out and shares details of each course. First course was a Medley of Greens grown on the farm with Tangerine vinaigrette. It was a generous portion for our party of 3 and tried to eat it throughout. There was spiraled carrots and radish with julienned snap peas. Second course was Pan Seared Ono (their proteins are all locally sourced) with Mamaki Tea and Lemongrass Rice with Bok Choy, Collared Greens and Cabbage. Third course was my favorite! I'm usually a big fan of fish but the chicken was so savory and that rub was delish! It was an Organic, Cage Free Chicken with Coffee Cherry Citrus rub with Caramelized Coffee Honey Hash of Carrots, Parsnips, Rutabaga and Celery Root. The spread was a Turmeric and Parsnip puree. Last course of dessert was the O'o Freshly Brewed Coffee with Milk and Simple Syrup with a Dessert Platter of Fresh sliced Pineapple, Tangerine and Apple with Homemade Chocolate Truffles. The meal left us full and nourished! What a wonderful anniversary gift to give my parents. We truly enjoyed it and even made some new friends, both local and visiting.

My son enjoyed the mahi mahi tremendously, which for a kiddo who only eats chicken normally, is a huge compliment! I thought the tour was very informative and interactive as well. Our guide Molly let us pick, smell, and explore a lot of the plants they have growing on the grounds. She also very nicely picked a tangerine for my son because he really wanted one. Overall, worthwhile experience, despite the long drive from Lahaina. I would do this again, whether it is the brunch + coffee tour or the lunch tour!

We had read many people saying rent a car and drive yourself using the app, to that I say not a good idea. My wife and I were both able to enjoy all of the views and all of the sites that were pointed out to us by our amazing driver/guide/new friend Patrick! If you're driving yourself, you're missing out. From the moment we booked this the owner, Dana, was exceptional in her communication and assistance in making sure this was the right tour for us. Patrick did an excellent job of taking care of us customizing our tour and making sure we saw everything we wishes to see and things that we never would've dreamed of seeing! In the past, I've had some challenges with motion sickness and had mentioned this to Dana, and upon arrival, Patrick had actually set up so that I could ride in the front seat if I was worried about the motion sickness issue. While I decided to ride in the back with my wife, it was a very thoughtful way to begin our day. There are too many stops to call them all out, but one that really will be remembered is when Patrick took us to be up close to Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees and picked us fresh strawberry guava's, that we had never had before, but they were wonderful. Patrick also provided some insight for stops that we would've never thought of such as Uncle Russell's Legendary Huli Huli Chicken for an awesome lunch and for amazing Dark Chocolate at the all organic self sustainable cacao farm East Maui Chocolate. Thank you Dana for setting this up and thank you Patrick for all that you did for us. We really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend the Magic Of Maui Experience !!

We didn't know what we wanted to see and do, but Jackie took care of us! We were able to do a little of everything. Sampling cocoa, roadside stand with amazing banana bread and coffee, black and red sand beaches with a swim in the ocean, and swimming at the base of a waterfall. The stops we made were not overcrowded with large tour groups. While the road is very curvy, Jackie's drove so well not one of us was car sick (and two of us easily get motion sickness). Towels, snacks, bandaids, drinks were all provided. A well planned, comfortable trip. Truly an amazing experience. If you are visiting Maui, this is a must do tour.

Traveling solo, it feels weird to take selfies everywhere or worse, asking someone to take your photo. We could not have had a group that meshed BETTER than all of us. Our guide Henry clearly knew "the good spots" because we didn't stop anywhere that anyone else was... he made us climb down treacherous "root ladders" and walk through the coldest water up to our necks but his ideas were always SO worth it.
