Black Pepper Beef

If I was absolutely sauced after the club this 100% would be the place I'd hit. The food was fairly good. Not great, but it would be excellent if you've got the drunchies. Service was fair but not great. Environment was a little loud for being so dead. Long story short, go here if it's the only option and you're hungry. It'll hit the spot if that's the case.

Probably the BEST rose TTEOKBOKKI I've ever had! It was perfectly creamy and not too spicy. Aside from that, the Jjamppong and garlic chicken wings were pretty solid too! This was the first time I had Jjamppong, and they were not stingy with the seafood. This place is HUGE. There is so much vertical space, and it lowkey gives warehouse vibes. 2 small projectors play Blackpink on a loop. The prices were honestly a little steep, but you can't beat the quality. We ordered 3 plates, and that was plenty for 4 people to share. You order through a tablet on the table, so our server only came to give us food. The service was not impressive by any means, but the food definitely made up for it.

came in for a late night bite with some friends and it was disappointing. when we first stepped in, it wasn't too busy, but no one acknowledged us for a good while. i made eye contact with a few workers and they just walked away. after waiting a while we got sat, and the server somewhat rushed us, telling us we need ti order soon as last call was approaching even though we waited a while to be acknowledged, sat, and for menus to come out. even then, they didn't even realize that our table didn't have a tablet to order on. service just was lacking especially since you basically order yourself. food was okay. the place is huge and spacious with plenty if seating, really dark though

Meat Jjamppong was delicious. This place is a gem. Slurping the soup is encouraged by staff. The place is super clean/pacious and if you are in luck you might catch a show Worth a try if in the area.

Jjamppong, Jajangmyeon, tangsuyuk

I absolutely love Paik's when I'm craving a simple lunch or dinner. The jjajangmyeon is always so good, and their noodles are perfectly chewy and delicious. My absolute favorite is the tangsuyuk. It's so crispy and chewy, just perfect! The only downside is that their hours can be inconsistent, and they sometimes close earlier than their posted hours.

Black bean noodles to go

I ordered the Jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) to go. The black bean sauce itself had great flavor, but because it was a takeout order, the noodles got a bit sticky in a separate container. I noticed there weren't many meat fillings in the sauce. Overall, it was a decent meal, but I think to get the full authentic experience I need to dine in next time and pair it with an order of their sweet and sour pork (Tangsuyuk)!

service and food are both really solid. lemon chicken was super tender, the pork was good but i wish the pieces were a little thicker and the fried rice was slightly mushy but still delicious

Been going to Paik whenever I crave Jjajangmyeon + sweet & sour pork. Over the year this place has decreased in the quality. They do not taste the same as when they had their own store front. Food comes out luke warm and it's just missing something. The overall new shop also seems depressing as it shared with 2 other restaurants/karaoke bar. Service is mainly with an ipad and the server is there for food delivery, any Qs that you may have, and check out.

We went on new years and they were open! We were their first customers of 2026. They seated us down fast and we just ordered from the tablet on the table. Space was huge and nice. FREE 2 HOUR PARKING! We didn't eat much but I wish I would've ordered more from this place. The vegetable fried noodles looked like regular chow mien on the screen but when it came, it actually blew my mind. Didn't look the same as picture but it was freaking delicious! I would've ordered another. I want to try other food that they offer now! But I probably cannot come to this location. I hope other location won't disappoint me.

I love all the dishes from paik's noodle! Very big portions and a lot of seating! They extended their seating to the karaoke stop next door which was a nice edition. The servers are everywhere so it's very easy to flag them down as well for refills!

Parking is somewhat hard to find during prime time as they are located in a smaller strip with other businesses and limited parking spaces. The restaurant itself is large, spacious, and reminds me of place you can rent out for special occasions. There is a full bar and plenty of space for large groups. There's a tablet on the table to order everything from food, drinks, utensils, etc., and call for service. So, no need to try and get a server's attention. Everything is done through the tablet except paying for the bill. The food arrived to the table quickly and the portions were shareable, for sure. Everyone in the group agreed that everything we ordered were missing a little bit of "something" to make the dish taste perfect. That, of course, is comparing it to other places we've had the same exact dish at. Don't get me wrong, it was good and affordable but it just missed the excellent mark somehow. It didn't have us wanting to return to try it again but instead, will stick to other places we know of.

Paik's is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego! This was our first time at the Convoy location and it was a great experience. It's located inside Hive. There's no much space, so many tables. Andrew helped us today and he made the experience that much better. They have a lunch special Monday-Sun that's so worth it. It came with two seafood soups, one crispy pork, and 4 crispy gyoza for ~$47 dollars. All dishes were FULL size. The seafood soup has the best, smoky and spicy flavor. I feel like you can't go wrong ordering anything here because it was all so good. Some of our favs: * Mapo Tofu * Creamy Shrimp * Stir Fry Jajangmyeon

Rose Tteokbokki, Soy Garlic Chicken Wings, Jjamppong
Amy D.

When we first came in the atmosphere was a little weird...nobody greeted us or told us we'd be seated until like a minute in and we were confused about what we were supposed to do. Once we sat down and looked at the menu I was a little taken aback by the high prices for these usually cheaper priced dishes. We ordered the Jjamppong, soy garlic chicken wings, and the rose tteokbokki and MAN WERE THEY GOOD!!! Might even say it's the best tteokbokki I've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection and it was the perfect amount of spice. The jjamppong and chicken wings were no let down either. Would definitely come back again! The food just completely changed my review of this place. Good food sells!!!!

The space inside is casual and straightforward, though it definitely gets packed fast during peak hours because locals know how good the food is. Looking at the spread we got, everything hits the spot. We started with the spicy sliced pork ears, which are super tender with a nice crunch and tossed in a bold chili oil and cilantro mix. For the mains, you come here for the noodles and they honestly never miss. The hand-ripped noodles are incredible--super thick, chewy, and served in massive bowls loaded with tender beef, brisket, or tripe. Whether you get the clear, savory broth or the spicy chili oil version, the portions are huge and the noodles have that perfect fresh-pulled texture.  Service was the real problem and I can't give them too much grace after our experience. They gave us all our food at a snail pace and was still missing one person's entree. After 20-30 minutes of waiting for his food, we asked the waitress to check on it and after going to the kitchen, she came back to tell us they ran out of that dish (beef paomo). At that point the rest of the table had pretty much finished their food as it's been about 45 minutes since we ordered. That was incredibly unprofessional. No apology, no offers to make it right. Just a "what would you like instead, sir". I loved the food but this type of scenario is not acceptable and I likely won't be back.

I did not taste any honey or walnuts in the shrimp, just a lot of mayonnaise. The lo mein was the best dish of the night. We took some leftovers home in the cute packaging. The branding here is definitely a strong suit. As we were sitting on the patio, there was a steady stream of customers ordering & picking up takeout. Service was fine. We sat for quite awhile once we were done, and we had to ask for to-go boxes. Then about ten minutes later, our server came by to run our cards. Verdict: FS is cute and bustling. The food is adequate but honestly pretty basic. The prices are quite reasonable. One restroom for the whole place. Paid street parking on Adams Avenue until 8pm & free parking on some side streets. The seafood doesn't seem as fresh as it used to be. The shrimp and squid have such an odd texture now that they're not as enjoyable to eat. The Cornish hen is usually overcooked, fibrous, and dry, which is so disappointing because it used to be my favorite! And the soup! I don't know what happened, but the broth has been so salty that our lips literally go numb and we end up drinking water the rest of the day. Even my 3 year old son said it was too salty and refused to eat it the last time we were there. Parking has always been a mess here too. And whoever says Golden Chopsticks is better is lying. The seasoning here is absolutely perfect. It's flavorful without being overpowering or overly salty like Golden Chopsticks can be. You can also tell the difference in the oil they use. I really dislike when fried food tastes like old, reused oil, but these wings don't have that taste at all. They're also not overly greasy, which makes them so much easier to eat. Normally, when wings are too greasy, I can only manage one or two before getting tired of them, but I ended up eating four in one sitting! For $16, you get a generous amount of wings, making this a better deal than Wingstop in my opinion for fresher better quality wings. We saw a TikToker recommend ordering extra green onions and getting the sauce on the side, so we decided to try it. SO GOOD. Our total came out to $21 with a side of rice, and it was absolutely worth it. We dipped the wings in the extra sauce and also poured a little over our rice. Not considering it in my rating, but not really sure how I feel about it. As for the food, the dumplings--amazing. We got the scallop shrimp pork ones. The skin is on the thicker side but the texture is so bouncy and the filling is incredibly umami and juicy. One of the best dumplings in San Diego. Each plate comes with 14 of them so it's pretty hefty. They don't really do modifications especially given that all the dumplings are pre-filled, so keep that in mind. As for the other items, they're passable but not as excellent as their dumplings. The beef noodle soup is good, but a little light on beef and veggies. The scallion pancake is super crispy, a little more like croissant and pretty mild green onion flavor. The noodles in the zha jiang mian were a little too al dente. The zha jiang mian comes with bean sprouts, carrots, cucumbers, celery, and ground pork in the black bean sauce. Overall great food for a reasonable price. If in doubt get more dumplings rather than their other dishes; that's what they specialize it and are best at.
