Jajangmyeon. 4 out of 5 first bite after mix. 2 out of 5 second bite on.

All of our bellies hurt after eating here. And the only time our family all eats the same thing is when picking food up from a restaurant (an infrequent endeavor, mind you.) The customer service was good and the fellow working the cashier was very kind. He answered our first timer questions and made multiple suggestions. We ordered the Jajangmyeon and vegetable fried rice. The fried rice was really lacking flavor and I turned it up some at home with some Livia's, soy sauce/oyster sauce, Asian sugar, mirin, and 2 more eggs. Yes, I had to recook their food to meet our palate. The Jajangmyeon was good upon the first bite, and then was meh upon the second. It had veggies and pork, but needed WAY more to make it worth it. All in all, we were disappointed, unwell, and no reason to return. Maybe 2 stars is to considerate and I'll hear it from our moderators to bring it down because I had to recook it...

First of all, you are not going to come here unless you like Korean food. This is VERY popular in both the Bay Area and Southern California. Here is a little history; "Paik's Noodle delivers the best in Korean-Chinese cuisine. Since our beginning in Seoul in 2006, we've expanded to over 300 locations globally. Inspired by Chef Jong Won Paik". I'm a Bibimbap/Banchan kind of girl, and stick with my FAVS, so I have often 'eyed' Jajangmyeon (Paik's signature dish) but never had it before. . . until now! We ordered Chili Jajangmyeon & Chili Jjamppong. Both had good flavor. You may consider having your chili peppers on the side, so you could add them as you go, rather than totally mixing them together. WATCH THOSE NOODLES! They have a habit of flipping around your bowl and spitting out sauce on your shirt! I speak as one with experience! LOL! The staff was 'over the top' outstanding! Friendly, checking several times if we needed anything, genuinely helpful! Five stars for staff! This is a 'niche market' that is set up more for TAKE OUT, rather than dining in. And we saw LOTS of takeout orders! There is a tiny water station, with even tinier water cups. . . am I at the Dentist office? NOT a convenient situation if you like a lot of HEAT in your food! Unfortunately, it's also located right next to where you buss your own dirty dishes (ew) . . . Sadly the floors are needing attention too. They DID just open, to get up and running, so there may be improvements in the future. Now for the 'fly in the ointment'. The music was such a LOUD and STRANGE cacophony of NOISE, the likes I have never heard before! Something that a 'bipolar' might enjoy if they were in their MANIC phase. It was downright IRRITATING and took away from the experience of dining there. Both of us could not wait to get AWAY from it. So, 5 stars for staff, 4 stars for food and 1 star for environment. Would I be back? YOU BET! But it will be TAKEOUT! ;)

As someone who binged Culinary Class Wars, I was so hyped to see that we had a Paik's Noodles here in Fresno! The place is super casual with a simple interior! You order and pick up your food at the counter. THE FOOD: 〰 Jajang Rice (4/5): Super comforting! The jajang sauce, rice, egg, and shrimp all came together really nicely and I love that it came with a bowl of jjampong on the side! Considering this is a chain, I was surprised how comforting of a meal this was. 〰 Fried Dumplings (3/5): I mean, you can never go wrong with a dumpling. It was a great addition to the meal but it wasn't anything to write home about. 〰 Sweet and Sour Chicken (3/5): I thought this was just OK! The chicken didn't have much flavor to it, the sauce was pretty standard, and I thought the chicken could be crispier. Still good! 〰 Stir-fried Jajangmyeon (5/5): BEST DISH OF MY VISIT! It was so flavorful and had a perfect spicy kick. This was so yummy!!! If I come again, this is the dish I'd get without a doubt. Overall, this is a great casual spot to visit if you're in the area.

We met up with some friends that highly recommend this restaurant. We were not disappointed with the food and service. The dining area was clean and comfortable though a little small, no booths just open tables. Food portions are large and delicious. We ended up with Jiamppong with spicy noodle, pork, squid, mussels and vegetables. The other dish was vegetable stir-fried noodles with oyster sauce. Sides of pickled radish were included. Both dishes savory and filling.

Service: it's mostly self-serve. Orders on counter are bused back to table by the customer, enabling them to reduce headcount and focus on food prep. Had three orders take just 10.5 minutes on 5 pm on a Saturday: pretty fast right? The chef goes from table to table asking customers about the quality of the service and food, although I missed him when I was filling my water cup. Ambiance: relaxed and friendly. So new that some of the promotional posters haven't completely unrolled yet and still have their creases (not a bad thing). Floors unfinished, so that kind of vibe. Food: a bit more complicated. Other reviews I saw complained about portions and meat. I ordered noodle beef jjampong and I think only got six pieces of meat for 14.45 (compare with the sliced radishes for scale, you'll see them when you walk in the door). Others in my group got the spicy jjampong and the meat Jajangmyeon, perhaps try those instead. I might come back later when I can evaluate this experience more objectively. Or just stick with pho if I want sliced beef.

Didn't know the made culinary wars into a restaurant... I didn't expect to see Mr Paik seeing at the front. After taking a quick photo with the celebrity, I was greeted with many amazing food options and Asian drinks ranging from the sweet ones we got to the alcoholic ones I wished I could try (had work the next day). Much like the one I tried in LA, the jajangmyeon was great and the japchae was a much needed refreshing taste. However, I've finally tried the Jjampong (had a whole bowl to myself after the sample) and man was it one of my favorite seafood soups I've had. As a seafood fan, I loved the mussels that complimented the taste I got with the broth. Would highly recommend for those looking for a newer taste!

We came here after watching the culinary class wars show on Netflix and it made me crave some jajangmyeon . They weren't super busy but they did have a few tables that were full. We got a spicy jajangmyeon and chili shrimp . It wasn't too spicy at all but the flavor was great . The chili shrimp wasn't as crispy as it was at the other Paik's noodle I had frequented . I want to come Back and try the cream shrimp , tangsuyuk, and seafood noodle . Service was really friendly and food came out fast !!

Love this place! The fried chicken (sweet and spicy) had such a good flavor and was so crunchy! The black bean noodles and sweet and sour pork are a must order combination. Each time I've gone the service has also been excellent.

Definitely a good amount of food for the lunch combo and such a great deal! Add a bit of vinegar to your noodles and it's soooo tasty! The sweet and sour chicken was more fried batter than chicken and slightly on the over fried side but still good nonetheless with the sauce that helps soften it up. I came here on a weekday lunch and there were only 2 other tables there and no line to order. You come in, order, pay, and sit down. The lady behind the register brought my food out to new since it wasn't busy. There's a small area next to the pick up window for condiments.

I don't really have anything bad to say about this place. The food is very average and good. Portions are average as well so you're not getting a whole bunch when it comes to the noodle dishes. We got the chili shrimp which came at a very decent portion for $20. Shrimps were jumbo sized and pretty big. I'm not the biggest fan of the sauce only because the garlic has an artificial taste to it but overall it's still good. Don't be fooled by the name it's not spicy at all. lol! I believe the name "chili" refers to like the sweet chili sauce for eggrolls. The fried dumplings were normal fried dumplings. I believe it was pork filled with cabbage/veggies if I'm correct. Nice crunch to it I personally liked to dip the fried dumpling in the Jajangmyeon sauce!!! Jajangmyeon is a little bit on the sweeter side, but I don't mind that I actually thought it went well with the pieces of pork on top. They're very generous with the sauce so if you love to eat foods that are super saucy, then this noodle dish is for you. I'm not too sure if it's just me, but I feel as if these noodles were a little bit bigger than what I'm used to, I don't have any problems with it but only that I couldn't finish my plate because it was so much hahah!!! The jjamppong definitely had a kick to it so if you're not used to eating mildly spicy stuff, then this noodle soup is probably not for you. It's not spicy in a sense where you have to drink tons and tons of water to reduce the heat, it's more of an aromatic spice that hits at the back of your throat. A good cough or two after every bite is what happened to me haha The noodle dishes do come with complementary yellow radish, which I thought added a nice touch. Typically a lot of places would not give you complementary yellow radish, but this place does!! I didn't know, but I guess they are doing stamp cards now, so if you come to this place often, then definitely seize this opportunity . Service is great, everyone there was really kind and friendly.

Updated review for professionalism! The owners of this location did reach out and I do want to acknowledge that they were very transparent, took accountability, and vulnerable as a new restaurant should be. That takes a lot of courage. Unfortunately, I still don't plan to dine with Paik's in the near future however, I believe they handled the situation well. Hoping others who visit will have a better experience and best of luck to the business here~

Sometimes when I crave for noodles, this is the place I would go to. The serving size is plenty. They have added more stuff on their menu to try. Not sure why, but I had a hard time ordering online. They do have incentives if you do order online. There are plenty of good eats in the strip mall; however, if you are craving for noodles, this would be the one I choose to go to for that.

    Valerie V.

Came here for dinner and really enjoyed it! We ordered the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and the Chili Shrimp. The portion sizes are huge definitely enough for two people to share! With two main dishes, side of rice and two drinks, the bill came out under $50. The flavors were bold, the shrimp was perfectly fried with just the right amount of sauce, and the soup had a nice balance of spice and seafood. Overall, a solid spot if you're craving hearty Korean-Chinese food and want generous portions that leave you full and happy.

Great tasting ramen!…read more My family and I made this place a pit-stop for dinner on a Sacramento to Los Angeles trip. Our original target was the Fresno location, but due to a GPS entry error, we ended up at their Clovis location! It was a little longer drive than usual, but still well-worth the drive. And besides, we were on a family long weekend break so who cares about distance... Our orders were quickly taken on the counter and we were off to find our table. A lot of places to choose from inside and outside seating was also available. And the place was nicely decorated and well-lit! Feels comfortable to dine inside! The menu was quite expansive. And you even have the choice of minor changes to the regular menu. I ordered an Oxtail Ramen...a first of this kind for me, so I just had to have it. And it passed with flying colors! Weird ingredient...but absolutely tasty! And at a really affordable price range! You just have to try our this place when you're in the area! You will love it!

The first time I tried the tonkotsu ramen as takeout and gave it 2 stars. The noodles were soggy from the start and the broth just didn't hit the depth of flavor I was expecting. It felt like something was missing. This time, I dined in and ordered both the spicy miso ramen and tonkotsu ramen, plus a side of chicken karaage. Eating onsite made a difference right away, the noodles held up and the overall taste of the ramen was significantly better. The spicy miso ramen was good, but I was honestly hoping for a stronger miso punch and a bit more heat. It leaned a little milder than expected, though still enjoyable. The tonkotsu this time was better balanced than my first visit. The chicken karaage was good as well. Crispy, light batter, juicy inside really solid fried chicken. I personally would've liked a squeeze of lemon and maybe some Japanese mayo on the side to elevate it even more, but that's just preference. Overall, I feel like this place redeemed itself on a second visit, especially dining in. I'll need to come back to try more of their specialty ramens.

They have a self-serve station for condiments where you can grab some chili oil, jalapeños, bean sprouts, and lime. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that I don't feel too bloated after eating here (compared to other pho restaurants). Been enjoying this restaurant and eating here at least once a week!

It's been a minute since I've been back here... I heard they remodeled? But idk what changed lmao I…read moreguess it's been that long since my last visit (it hasn't been a full year yet, fyi). My memory is shot. I don't want to be handing out 5 stars so easily but I think they deserve it. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the little Asian lanterns they have, all different, above each table. Plenty of seating. When we got there (a little after 5), there was only one other table occupied... by the time we left (6:30), every table was nearly taken. Our waitress, as well as the other on the floor, were both very welcoming and friendly. They handled the service remarkably as a team. The fact that they were a packed house and still were very attentive with us, checking how we're doing, checking on our water refills... these are the little things I appreciate most (and, of course, good food). I got the Pho with the Fatty Brisket, my friend got just the Steak Pho. They have a bar against the wall with all garnishes you may need to grab what you'd like. This is pretty smart... It saves them from waste. Instead of giving people items they may not use-- they would just grab what they'd like themselves. My friend grabbed her goodies, I prefer mine as is. To me, if your broth is good and doesn't require me to flavor it... I'll eat it just like that (unless I feel like adding spice). I've only ever been to a few other Pho places where I had to season up the broth myself...definite no no for them. All my friends who have gone out to eat Pho with me know I eat it just how I get it. Pho from my Mama is a different story though... I put the works (not because it's not flavorful) but, it's just different. Moving on... They also have a Teazona in their establishment. I've tried a few different drinks in the past but came to regularly deciding on the Tiramisu Milk Tea (no flan for me, light boba). Make sure to shake it well. You can also let them know your preference on the level of sweetness. We both got this tonight and it nearly tipped me over on the full scale. Couldn't finish it. Everything was really good though. Pho was the perfect choice for this weird, gloomy weather we've been having. The price is a bit up there but that seems to be the norm everywhere nowadays. But-- for the portion, the quality, and the service? Worth it.

It was quite an interesting industrial, unfinished aesthetic. Definitely nostalgic and made me miss my fixed up white Acura Integra..ala 2001. Yea..I'm a girl and yea I use to race. ;) Such a good pit stop on our family's Spring Break road trip to Yosemite. It definitely refueled us for the rest of our journey. Known for its customizable ramen bowls with flavorful broths and a wide variety of toppings, as well as, other menu items like rice bowls, bentos, and dumplings, Tsuchiya Ramen definitely lived up to it's almost 5 star Yelp reviews. The waitress was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly once our order was taken ~ less than 10 mins for sure! I ordered the spicy miso ramen ($17.99) with a sweet corn side (+$1.50) and complimentary topping of the fried garlic. The hakata (thin style noodles) were perfectly cooked, with a lil al dente bit to them. It had all the trimmings that I like ~ green onion, chashu, jammy egg, crunchy wood ear mushrooms, naruto fish cake, marinated bamboo, and nori. The broth was authentic, flavored with such depth. You can really taste the slow-cooked, miso quality in it. I loved the fried garlicky taste too! It was the right level of spice, I didn't even need to add any chili oil, like I usually do. My picky daughter opt'd for the "make your own ramen" option (starting at $12.99) ~ getting the same hakata thin noodle with tonkatsu broth, chashu (+$3.25), fried tofu (+$2.50), and freebie toppings of nori, sesame seeds & fried garlic. My son ordered the OG tonkatsu ramen w/ extra marinated bamboo (+$2) on the side. Lastly, the hubs wanted to eat lighter & healthier, so he opt'd for the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Everyone loved their meal pick. Dare I say..I even think it ranks better than some of the ramen joints in the OC. Who knew Fresno was poppin' in the foodie dept? Lol A total RxFoodie recommend and I'd return if I'm ever in the area again!

The place is pretty small, so it definitely gets busy at night. Going during lunch was the move. I got seated super fast with no wait. It took a little time to order, but once I did, the food came out pretty quickly. I tried the wonton soup and it was good, the broth had really nice flavor. I also got the beef chow mein and really liked it. The beef pieces were a good size and tasted really good. I also tried the pork soup dumplings and those were really good. They come with a little sauce to put inside, but I didn't really care for it and honestly didn't need it. The dumplings had great flavor on their own. I also tried the house spicy chicken and loved it. It wasn't spicy in my opinion, but I liked that the chicken was a little crunchy. I think it's fried and then tossed in their sauce, which was really good. I got white rice to go with it, best decision. Overall, the food was really good and I'm glad I finally tried this place. If you're around during lunchtime, I definitely recommend it. They'll get you in and out pretty quickly.

They have a large variety of noodles here, pho, thai boat noodles, khao soy, khao poon, and also tons of other thai /cambodian / lao choices. We got a thai boat noodle, khao soy, and pork belly to share. The thai boat noodle and khao soy are delicious. It was my first time ordering khao soy I thought khao soy was a curry based dish, but my noodles were a pork based broth, still yummy though! The pork belly here is huge and served hot and super crispy, miles better than any other pork belly I've tried. The thai tea had an off putting flavor, like they had made it with soy mik? instead of condensed evaporated milk? Total was $83 after tax and tip, this place is pretty hole in the wall but even hole in the wall places have to charge more now to keep up with inflation. Great fast service !

Khao soy. Soy happy.*…read more Why Khao Soy? Because Kh-ao piek and Kh-ao poon feel as standardized as ph-o, but Khao Soi seems to vary from shop to shop. Not just the spelling. Just my observation. And this was amongst the top 3 of the Khao Soys I've had. Lao Kao Soi anyway. The Th-ai version is a different dish to me. I came here Sunday evening. Things were slow. I told him the order just as he gave me the menu, and in exchange, he gave me a plate of bean sprouts and lime wedge instead. Haven't seen that for Kao Soy yet. Then came the utensils. And soon, the ginormous bowl, nay, tub, of KaSoy. The last time I saw a bowl this big in the Bay Area was decades ago in a pho house. They don't make extra larges like they used to in SF. I felt like Patrick, longing, staring with excitement and anticipation at SpongeBob's Pea-nut On-ion Sun-dae , trying to hold down the giggles and butterflies while my eyebrows are sparking. Except this Khao Soy actually SMELLS GOOD. And I still have my eyebrows. And I was not disappointed. The soup was HOTTT, with 3 Ts. The size of the bowl helped keep it that way. The surface of the lava lake was covered by the ground pork that defines Khao Soy. Completely. Just look at the picture. (I took a sip of the broth with the spoon before the picture) I promise you that I didn't go in with a camera in my hand, or point my phone as if I'm taking a video. Maybe it's the end of the day and they were feeling generous or just needed the ground pork gone. Well, I used my phone as a phone, and I didn't use the camera until this bowl came out. Just trust me. The broth was rich with notes of fermented bean paste and heavy notes of garlic, cut by the freshness of tomatoes. Heavy by the standards of a rice noodle soup. The lime helps. You might want to use an extra wedge too. Don't hold back though. There's a treasure hunt in progress. You see, within this bowl were a bunch of roast pork pieces. Quality roast pork pieces. The chicharron still very crispy when I got to each piece. (But that doesn't mean you should sin by letting the chicharron get soggy!) Seems like others have their roast pork left on top, but mine had sunk to the bottom when the Khao soy had landed. No big. This is like how won-ton noodle soups are served when you're Canto, the best stuff at the bottom. What impressed was that the roast pork was still crispy! The particular flat rice noodles used seems to be re-hydrated dried noodles. Normally a downgrade but in this case, a good move. Yes, fresh noodles carry the soup better, but in this boiling cauldron, the noodles used handled the heat much better and longer. After I had finished the noodles, the soup was still very hot, enough that I added the bean sprouts, which were still cooked to a point that they were absorbing the soup's flavor. I tried to finish the soup, but failed. Soooo close, but I have a drive to drive, and I don't want to have an accident on the way back. I don't know where the actual banos are in Los Banyos, and they're probably closed by the time I'm passing through. Now mind you, this is about as heavy as rice noodle soup will get. Take your time once you've found the chicharron. Share it if you can. Don't rush like me or you'll be burping garlic like I did rushing back to SF. If you are on a drive between SoCal and SF Bay or Sac, may I suggest taking the 99 instead of the 5? Instead of hours of just brown yellow and gas stations, you can stop at cities with proper markets. Instead of grab and go fast food or selling your kidney at Harris, why not enjoy some proper, affordable, sit-down chow in Fresno? Maybe this will open your eye to new foods as well! *(Yes. Yes. Terrible espanyol, if you can even call that Spanish, don't come at me with chanclas, pour favour!)

It was super crispy without being hard, easy to bite into, and not overly fatty at all. Every sauce paired perfectly with the sticky rice, pork belly, and fried chicken. The chicken itself was incredibly moist and flavorful. I was secretly hoping for crispier skin, but honestly the flavor made up for it. Before leaving, I ordered the sausage with sticky rice plus both the shrimp and pork spring rolls to-go because I already knew I was going to want more later. The spring rolls were SO fresh and delicious. The shrimp wasn't overcooked, the pork was tender, and that peanut sauce absolutely tied everything together. The sausage was another standout, very flavorful, juicy, easy to chew, and perfect with the sticky rice. My only regret was forgetting to ask for chili oil before I left... thankfully I had some at home because it took everything to the next level. Big shoutout to Lana working the front counter, she was incredibly friendly and generous the entire time. I also got to meet La herself, and she was so warm and easy to talk to. This was mostly due to the neighboring gym. (Sorry for those who have slammed vehicles without bags.) The crispy pork was delicious and crunchy. The chicken had a sweet to its savory. Very happy with the sauce choices as well. And sticky rice for the win. Two restrooms available. Half the tables were occupied by customers. One table by other Yelpers, who I wanted to take a picture with, but they were mid chomp. Disappeared while I was stuffing my face. Noise level was average, with adorable children throughout, music playing, and lots of order pickups. Will be happy to return!
