During my outpatient treatment, I had a discussion with one of the counselors and she told me about her experience when she interviewed at BRR. She had a similar feelings about the management. The validation was really helpful. Be wary of the fact that there are relationships between staff that are important to know. I had difficulty with a mental health staff member and did not find out until later on that he is married to the main operations person. I had been told by my dietitian during a session and it was like she thought I had already known. Believe me when I say it caused more anxiety and concern. You need to know upfront that they operate on a team basis. Which under most cases wouldn't be a bad thing however you have no safe space to vent about how you feel without it being seen as a barrier to your treatment. They also have no concept in helping people deal with their "real lives" outside of ED treatment. I was denied computer time even during downtime on the weekend when I needed it most to support my licensing renewal. The one person that helped patients with "adult computer and phone time" on Wednesday's treatment team day (a non scheduled treatment morning) was soon missing from the staff. I'm pretty sure she was let go because of this incident. We are more than our eating disorder and they don't allow you to think otherwise. We all have responsibilities outside of our treatment and they look the other way. It's almost as if they don't care about other things that are important to us. Be very, very careful if you have other things that you need to address while in treatment. Also be careful about how you answer the intake questions. I mentioned something that was related to an iron deficiency. It was seen as a behavior, and thus I was never allowed ice in my water or other drinks. It pissed me off to no end and of course that just made them feel like it was justified. Hard enough to have to eat so much food and snacks and not be able to have just a cold glass of water. It was messed up. Pretty much everything is a "behavior" until they say otherwise. I also found out later when I went back to my primary treatment team at Kaiser that they were kept pretty much in the dark about details of the treatment. There was no formal documentation. I later requested my treatment records from BRR, and it took well over eight weeks to receive it, which was clearly against the law. I don't think they had a reporting system set up that would adequately document the treatment plan in notes. Only after I went to Kaiser's membership services that surprisingly I received it within the next two days. I'm glad other people had a good experience and are thankful for their treatment. However, this place is not for everyone! Do your homework before making a decision on your treatment plans. I hope this is helpful. I also encourage you to read the review by Kenneth G. I just wish it had been available when I was first researching this treatment center.

I am a clinical psychologist and work for a group practice just a few…read moreblocks from this practice, so I understand the challenges that can come with coordinating scheduling for new intakes, however, this was completely unacceptable. I was trying to schedule a family therapy session with my husband and mother, and it took weeks of repeated calls and emails to even get someone on the phone to schedule an initial intake session. Once I was finally able to reach someone, my husband, mother, and myself coordinated our busy schedules and scheduled an intake with Dr. Mack via the group's intake coordinator. We showed up the next day for our virtual session, each from different locales, and then waited. And waited. No one ever came on and no one called us. I called the practice after about 15 minutes to see if something had happened, or perhaps I had gotten the time wrong, and I reached a receptionist or intake coordinator, who said they would try her and get back to me. We waited another 20 min and then I called again and was told, "I haven't reached her. All I can do is call and leave her messages." No attempt was made to reschedule us or to discuss next steps. We finally all signed off in disappointment. No one has made any contact with us since then to explain what happened that day or to attempt to reschedule the appointment. This happened a week ago, so there's been ample time to make contact since then. As a clinician myself, I would never allow this to happen and not follow up in some way, especially with a new client who I hadn't developed a relationship with yet. We will NOT be trying to reschedule and I certainly will not be recommending this practice to anyone else.

I am so grateful to have received guidance and care from Jasmine at The Body Center. I injured my…read moreankle in November and was not seeing any progress with the PT I was receiving through my health insurance due to only seeing them once every two weeks. I started seeing Jasmine twice/week at the end of January and she slowly introduced exercises to help me strengthen, stabilize, and stretch my ankle (as well as my hips, thighs, and calves). Jasmine made a point to understand what my "normal" was before my injury and incorporated exercises that eventually got me back to the activities I enjoy doing. I really appreciate that she explained what the exercises were meant to do, how/where I should be feeling them, and was always willing to answer questions/concerns I had about my progress. Everyone I encountered over the four months I received care was helpful, friendly, and approachable. I highly recommend The Body Center and, though I hope I don't need PT anytime in the future, I would absolutely return if needed.

For some reason since then, the Matrix Institute has ignored every single attempt I have made to return to the program or contact them. I've made calls, left messages, sent emails....everything gets ignored or I'll be told I'll get a call back later and of course no one called. It's so bad that when I applied for disability, they finally called me to come into the office, just to sign a paper for them. Turns out when I get there, I'm trying to get in the building, and the Asian guy behind the desk is just sitting there ignoring all my calls, so I think they have some kind of "do not answer" warning on my phone number or something. None the less when I finally get his attention from outside and he lets me in, it turns out I didn't even need to sign it and he just didn't read the contract right. Of course he has no answer on why every attempt to contact them is ignored, and why he ignored me when I called to get in. This businessese's choice to repeatedly and deliberately ignore and ban me for whatever unknown reason is very disheartening. I have a feeling some jealous group member made up some fake lies about me or something otherwise I have no idea why they just shut me out forever because I fell behind. It seems like there's a specific racial and class demographic this place prefers to cater to, and I didn't fit that.
