Good service if your car passes. However, I had an inch long piece of PVC tube that was cracked. It didn't effect how the car ran and it would have passed the smog just fine, but that little piece of tube had to be replaced and they couldn't do it. This meant I had to take it somewhere else for that piece of tube then take it back and pay another$30 to get it another (plus$8.95). Take it to a smog check and repair in the first place! Susaki is right down the street. read more

They do a good job IF your vehicle is newer and has no issues. If you drive an older vehicle that may have issues, go someplace else. They do no adjustments and/or will give no advice other than "take it to your mechanic". There are several other smog check stations in the area who will give you better service. The staff is polite, but the staff that performed the checks are VERY limited in their knowledge and often have issues with older vehicles. read more

$52 for a smog on a 2013 car. Very efficient workflow. Walk in knowing your exact miles on the car. Waited no more than 10-15 minutes tops. Fee is due at checkout, does NOT matter if your car passes or fails smog. They did a good job at providing me a handout with recent recalls on my specific vehicle that I was not aware about. Would recommend specifically because of how fast I was in and out. I was there around 8 or 9AM. Avoid going around lunch time and near closing hours. read more

I was very impressed with the staff at Pacific Smog on my first visit 10 years ago. They were a S.T.A.R. station at that time. So helpful and easy to do business with that I didn't mind driving my vehicles from Greenfield to their shop! My, how time changes things. They are no longer a S.T.A.R. station, they are now just "test-only." But up to this point, I still got on with the staff well. They were still helpful and friendly. That was about to change. Drastically, and not in a good way. I was a walk-in on the afternoon of October 29, a Friday. I didn't recognize the chap at the counter. He told me the wait was about 20 minutes. The shop was moderately busy, so I was inclined to be patient. 45 minutes later, I'm told that the inspection could not be performed. My truck had "issues." Employee: "Your truck has a leaky radiator. It has a dilution ratio problem. These issues need repairing before we can perform a smog test on your truck." Me: "OK. I have been driving the truck all day prior to coming here... been to Hollister and back... with no overheating. Must be a VERY minor radiator leak. 'Dilution ratio?' What is that?" Employee: "Dilution ratio is the amount of exhaust gases coming out of your truck's tailpipe." Me: "There's no exhaust coming from the tailpipe?" Employee: "Yes, there's exhaust. But very little emissions." Me: " Running TOO clean? Isn't that a good thing?" Employee: "No, you don't understand." Me: "I understand more than you know. I've been a credentialed mechanic for about 30 years. If there's no "Check Engine" light on, and the exhaust is producing very little emissions, that sounds like a passed smog test. I don't see the problem." Employee: "Well, we can't smog test your truck until the issues I mentioned are repaired. Sorry." Long story short, I took my truck to a smog shop local to Greenfield the next day, and it passed smog handily. Thanks for nothing, Pacific Smog. You just lost a longtime customer. If you decide to visit, hope you don't have to deal with the employee I did. Good luck. I think you may need it! read more

I have been taking my cars to this smog station for years. Yesterday I took in my van which they have smogged at least three times over the years only to be told they could no longer smog it. I said why... and they said they had new machines which would not smog this van any longer. I was shocked by this and went down to Sammy's Auto where the owner smogged my van and charged me $25 less than Pacific. Go to Sammy's down the street a few blocks! My former smog checkup business discontinued doing smog checks so they referred me to Pacific Smog. They have a convenient location, sufficient parking, a decent waiting area and friendly staff. Of course the car passed the check and that helps keeping me happy. It is also convenient because it is within walking distance to some shops nearby so you don't have to wait there and can get some shopping done if you plan ahead as they may be busy and it takes more than 25 minutes to do the smog check. read more

Took my 2000 Honda during my lunch and I was dreading the waiting time since other places normally take more than 20min to do a smog, and they finished in record time. I had enough fine time to get lunch after! These guys deserve more credit than they receive! read more

Customer service is weird not so welcoming and their employees seem to not know how to drive stick shift and throw their clipboards in against the inside of the windshield like if it where their own cars , not going back , vehicle didn't pass because it had been sitting at home , they charge close to 50 and when you bring it back I would have to pay the another 32 , what a rip off. read more

SCAM alert. Read the "failed, but drive your car a bit, come back and we'll pass it" reviews ! I personally know of three "failure$' where they take $38 and then state the above. I am reporting this to the BBB, DMV, etc as it happened to a coworker today ! Happened to me and I drove less than two miles and it passed in minutes. This is a great shop with great service. The first time I came here I brought my wife's Escape but it failed. The guys in the shop then showed me what was wrong and gave me ideas where to get the parts and how to fix it myself. I fixed it but damaged another part and when it failed again the guys there showed me what else was wrong. Finally got it fixed and I have them to thank for all the help. read more

Dropped by at 3:30 on a Friday, and was out 4:00. With no appointment, mind you. Doesn't get much better than that. Cost me about $57.

This is a check station only. So if your car doesn't pass smog you have to get it fixed at another shop. Shop charges: 1. Labor: $43.75 2. Certificate: $8.25 Total: $52.00 On my first visit my car didn't pass smog so I was advised to drive it around more since my CAT wasn't ready. I had to pay $43.75 for the test since I essentially had to pay for them using their test machine. I came in the next day and my car passed smog. Thanking the Seven Gods. They charged me a retest fee of $23.75 + certificate. So essentially, I could take the retest as many times with no charge until I passed smog. So I ended up paying a total of $75.75. $23.75 more than I expected. read more

RUDE! I have never been treated so terribly! Took my car in to get a smog check and the old guy behind the counter snapped at me when he heard that my car had been imported from another country despite having been made in the US. Stomping outside to look over my vehicle, he rudely informed me that he was not going to perform a smog check unless I had my VIN verified with the dealer. He completely ignored the fact that the DMV had already done this. Don't bother to get your smog certified with these guys -- they obviously do not pay close attention to details nor do they offer any kind of customer service. Pay your money to someone who will take the time to check your documentation and treat you with courtesy. read more

I went in about 8:40 on this Monday morning and was done in about 20 minutes. The gentleman at the desk was nice as could be and I'm impressed with the fact that it's not that expensive for such great quality. Being a 25-year-old female college student who doesn't know much more than the basic of the basics on a car, I'm always leery about getting work done or anything like that but they were so nice and didn't give me a weird vibe like I have had in some places. Definitely going there for future smog checks, even if it means coming back home -- worth it! :) read more

I have had great experiences here before. I have taken my cars and trucks and RV here for the past 10 years. But today I took my 23' and was told flat out I needed to make an appointment for 7:30 in the morning. Their hours are 8 to 4PM??? I like the convenience of Pacific Smog and I am willing to pay their higher prices for that but today changed my mind. If they can"t accommodate me with a small RV the size of a large truck, then I will not be returning. read more

By far the best smog station. Second time here. Today I pulled up at 9:06am. They gave me paperwork and took my keys at 9:08am. Smog was complete and I was back in my car at 9:17am. I don't recall exactly how long my first visit lasted, but it was extremely fast as well. They were also super friendly both times I visited.
