Took my car there for a timing belt replacement. Rented a car for a few days while mine was being serviced. Came back to find they instead replaced my clutch for whatever reason. This took a few days to correct I guess. (Didn't get to keep the new clutch) I came back when they told me to and the car still wasn't ready. Had to wait a few more days and finally told George I could wait no longer for it. (Had to return the rental and got tired of walking) I get the car back and get this- the belts are squeaking now. Great! I take it back to him and he says they're new belts, so they'll squeak a little in the beginning. Ok. I take the car to work for a day. Squeaking gets worse. I take it back to George and he has to keep it for another day. I finally get the car back and it's no longer squeaking. Fast forward a month later.. My car's belts start squealing and my car loses power intermittently. I ask a friend to look at it and turns out, the bolt that holds the alternator in place is missing and the belts are chewed up from being misaligned. The alternator was dangling by its wires which = really bad. I'm hoping they did my timing belt correctly as it was around $800. Never again. read more

I would give this shop zero stars, if I could. Worst experience I have ever had with a repair shop. I was referred to George from a local automotive parts shop. I needed a diagnostic on my truck for a check engine light. George recommended a tune-up with new spark plugs and to clean the fuel injector. He stated he would do this and not charge for the diagnostic, which I thought was good. He stated "if the check engine light comes back on, bring it back, I'll run the diagnostic and have to charge you for it". I drove twenty miles and the check engine light came back on. I returned not an hour later and wanted the print out from the diagnostic to see what error codes were coming up. He stated "he didn't enter the diagnostic into the computer, he couldn't give me print out". I then allowed him to run a diagnostic to get the print out for no charge. He stated "oh, its only a sensor error, I can fix it now". He then attempted to fix the sensor, but showed me somebody had tampered with it and pull out a plug; being his shop was the only one to work on my truck in the past year, I would believe they "removed the plug". While he was attempting to put the plug back in, he broke the sensor clean off. He said he would repair the part but he did not have the part at his shop, he would go to a U-pull it to get the part; he said, "It would take less than two days". I called the morning of the second day to check the status of the sensor; he stated "he was on his way there right now to get the part" and "to come bay later". I returned on the third day, late in the afternoon to see if he received the part. George was not there, his employee called him and George said he was getting the part "now" and to come back tomorrow, any time. I returned the next day in the afternoon and asked to see George, George was not at the shop that day, said his employee; I asked if there was a sensor for my truck and if the mechanic could repair it. The employee went and got the mechanic, who stated, "George didn't leave a sensor here, he didn't get one". After this, I told them I would go somewhere else and get the work done. They have bad customer skills, poor communication between customer and business (I always had to call them), possibly shady practices; I would not recommend this establishment. read more

I was referred to George by a friend who had taken his car to him in the past. George runs this shop himself with a few trusty employees, he speaks very-hard-to-understand English, and his hands are always dirty. Also, he is extremely honest and trustworthy, at least in my experience. I've taken my 2000 Toyota Solara to him a few times now, and I always felt he was being straight up with me. Just recently the clutch in my car pooped out, one mechanic told me the whole thing needed to be replaced to the tune of $1000. Well I called George and told him it needed a new clutch. "Bring it in." After about a day he calls, tells me the clutch is actually fine, it's just a valve in there somewhere that was leaking fluid. $200 out the door. George could have gouged me, instead he saved me $6-800 and said "Have a nice day." This place is nothing fancy and George might be a little rough around the edges, but honesty like that deserves 5 stars in my book. K&H is pretty.....pretty.......pretty good. read more

If I could give less than one star I would.. I even had to make an account just to make this post. So my grandfather tells me he found a mechanic to work on my Z car.. He saw a couple in the lot which he saw as someone being an experienced Z mechanic and his reason was that the mechanic that worked on his other Z didn't have a smog check (I'm sure gramps didn't check, ended up taking the car to the original Z mechanic after the rip off from K&H) , I agreed until I came in and met the guy. Of course my grandfather insisted so the car goes to the shop. He makes some small fixes everything is fine.. nothing too noticeable.. tends to keep the car for a long time can't remember where the gas was before bringing it in or the miles exactly.. I kept note of these things later specifically the gas levels. Never really knew much about the Z even though there were STILL a couple out front.. asked to have car longer repeatedly and it would be a week or weekend every time. Next time it comes into shop.. keep in mind my grandfather won't admit he's wrong and tends to be too trusting of some people, until I bring up bringing the car in on a completely full tank of gas.. He claims to work on it all week calls grandfather in and tells him he can't get what's wrong and that he need another week or so, and the tank is near empty!! So grandfather realizes he's been continued to be taken advantage of and has been nickeled and dimed this whole time. So we give a call to T & T auto repair in monterey near the fairgrounds.. the original mechanic that grandfather said didn't have the smog checking tools or something like that, I still think he didn't check and went off seeing the Z's in the lot.. along with pride. T&T has the car little over a week.. was able to find what's wrong right off the bat placed the orders for a good amount of parts and even found welding that shouldn't be there.. took the time to work on that and put everything back together how it was supposed to be along with tires..replacing every spark plug.. a complete tune up! ... and get this it turned out to be FASTER & CHEAPER than K&H!!!! In review : DO NOT GO TO K&H AUTO !! Especially if you're not too savvy with cars and have no clue what they are doing to your vehicle! I will NEVER go to this shop again! I caution you avoid it! I have been going to K&H for three years now. George, the owner is very knowledgeable about cars and can usually diagnose and fix the problem promptly. He truly has integrity and will not fix or replace anything that is not wrong. In addition, his prices are around 20 - 35% below most other repair shops. I have referred numerous friends to K&H and they are happy as well. The down side is that there is very little space to park and when your car is finished it may get parked along the street. You also may need to call back and stay on top of when the repair will be completed. But if you want to save money and have the right thing repaired by an honest mechanic, the drawbacks are small by comparison. read more

Terrible service. George lies, cheats and misdiagnoses cars all day long. Shady establishment and not registered with the BBB (cannot report his mispractice!). He checked our truck and stated it was the bearing that needed replacing on the front left tire. Since we had just replaced the bearing one week before, this seemed odd. He stated it was loose when installed and so wore out the bearing. He charged $45 for this checkup although we had agreed on $20. The next day the tire was wobbly and was not driving well. We took the truck by another auto repair and found it was not the bearing that needed replacing but the bolts on the wheel well. He completely misdiagnosed the problem! When we went back to tell him the report, he stated the other auto shops were wrong and that he only charged us $20 anyways, a cheap checkup! Liar! Long story short, he will be hearing from us in court. DO NOT GO TO K & H AUTO REPAIR Unless you're willing to accept sub par service with no guarantee. This place should be shut down. read more

The only thing good about my experience is that I wasn't charged more than they said they would. I went in for a routine oil change (chose this location b/c of 5 star previous review). I verified what they'd said on the phone once I got in: It'll be 20 minutes, MAYBE 30 if there's a problem. I took my two year old on a walk and came back 25 min later. "Five more minutes." Okay. Ten minutes later: "Five more minutes." Okay. (This happened several times.) Finally, the guy charged me saying my car was done and would be brought out front right away. After standing in the 50'ish degree weather (with my two year old) for ten more minutes, I went inside to see what was going on. "They brought out the wrong oil filter, so it'll take another 5 minutes until it's done." I went up front one more time after this to see what the status was before I finally gave up. There was never any explanation or apology or anything when I finally got my car back more than an hour 15 minutes from when I first checked in. I ended up missing the other appointment I had scheduled for the day because they took so much longer than they said they would. Very, very disappointed. Seriously. read more
