I do not recommend this dental office, especially if you are experiencing financial hardship…read more I went in for a toothache and was told I needed a root canal. Before even being seen, I paid up front and explained my financial situation. During the appointment, a staff member came into the room and told me I'd have to pay more or they wouldn't be able to proceed with treatment. I was already overwhelmed and in tears, and I reminded them I had already paid. She apologized and left the room. Later, I received a $300 bill for an incomplete root canal. Because of the way they coded and billed it, my insurance didn't cover anything -- it didn't even apply toward my deductible. Then I was told I'd have to wait to finish the procedure until my deductible reset the following year and I could afford the rest. Eventually, the bill doubled and was sent to collections. On top of that, they never explained that the crown (which is essential to complete a root canal) would be a separate and significant additional cost. I'm now left with an incomplete root canal and a $700 bill, and no clear communication throughout the process. UPDATE: I've uploaded a photo to clarify that the work was never completed, despite their claims. Transparency and clear communication are essential in healthcare -- unfortunately, I didn't experience that here. They also have a tendency to lie on public forums, obviously. I realize Dr. Brecke has an attitude of "don't worry it's all fine " going on. People like his laid back demeanor. His office staff and Hygienist are very pleasant. They have the same "come on in!" Attitude. His office is a little outdated but clean. This time I went to him it was for an infection in a previous crown. My face was swollen and I was in extreme pain! They couldn't get me in for awhile (the start of no back up plan for emergencies!) so I contacted a previous dentist and was seen right away and given antibiotics. The prescribing dentist is not someone that I want to go to for routine things because he is always saying I need thousands of dollars in dental procedures that I question. I went back for the pulling of the infected molar. This appointment happen to be the same day that we had a death in the family! I told the receptionist about this when I arrived. Dr. Proceeded to pull my tooth. His assistant was obviously new! She didn't provide the assistance Dr Brecke needed. It was obviously irritating him. I left with no antibiotics, no rinse of any kind and a handout. Over the next few days my tooth started to become infected! I called first thing on a Monday! The receptionist said Dr Brecke had come in that morning "shaky so I sent him home to sleep for a few hours" Apparently there was an emergency in his family that weekend). I was sympathetic because our family was going through a rough patch. I asked what I should do. She said wait for a few hours and they would call back. I waited... called back after 4 hours! The women on the phone said he wasn't there yet. I said "don't you have a back up dentist for emergencies? She answered in a flat voice "well we use ---- but normally we give him a heads up"! I said "I'm going to Urgent care. I went there and was put on a strong antibiotic! When I went back to have it checked after two days of medication, no one mentioned the whole ordeal! Dr. Brecke looked uninterested and said it would heal. He told me to "just quit taking the antibiotics when it starts feeling better! At this point my mouth was super sore and raw but starting to heal! He gave me no numbing rinse or anything for pain. The last straw was when he just walked away from me to the front of the office. He handed my chart (who doesn't use computer charting?) and said to the receptionist "well we will probably never see her again but if she has any further problems she can call"! Very unprofessional! No attention given for pain or infection! The kicker is I have had a total knee replacement last year! A bone infection would be horrible in my case! I will look for a new dentist! One that doesn't want to do everything he can think of but also is on the ball for the basics of my dental health!

What was significantly worse, however, was the bait and switch tactics. My wife needed a crown. This office contacted our insurance company THREE TIMES and were told every time that it wasn't covered. Didn't matter - the office still pretended that it was covered and told us so. It wasn't until after the crown was placed that they suddenly came up with "Oh, by the way, that wasn't covered". Shame on us for not contacting our insurance directly. But when we even questioned the office's culpability in the whole mess the dentist started threatening to call her attorney, send us to collections and all manner of other browbeating tactics. Oh yeah, and the first statement they sent already had interest charges tacked onto it. They sent a "Final Notice" only 30 days after the first statement. If you're looking for a dentist, don't walk away from this one. Run. As fast as you can.

I began seeing Dr. Foster about 12-13 years ago due to having a toothache. She was the second…read moreopinion I sought. She referred me to an endodontist at that time, and I had my first root canal. At that time, she told me she didn't do root canals and sent me to an endodontist. It was a successful root canal. She and her staff took over the care of my teeth at that time, and I didn't have any problems with her care. The staff in her office are very professional. In 2018, I had another toothache while I was on vacation and called Dr. Foster's office to ask for advice for the pain, and made an appointment to see her as soon as I had returned. By the time I returned from vacation, the pain wasn't as severe. She and her staff tested the tooth and said the need was immediate. I fully expected her to do the same thing she had done when I first came into her office and refer me to someone who knew what they were doing... i.e. an endodontist. She didn't do this, even though she has repeatedly told me that she did give me a referral. My memory of that root canal that she performed was one that left me less than confident in her services and skills. She couldn't find one of the canals and didn't continue with the procedure. She told me she was afraid of damaging the tooth and stopped. I essentially had an incomplete root canal. In the past few months, I developed a draining fistula in the same tooth that she had worked on in 2018. I sought a second opinion and also changed dentists. The second opinion informed me that the root canal had not been completed. I had to get a second root canal on the same tooth! I was placed on antibiotics due to a prolonged infection in that tooth. I was out major $$ that I had not budgeted for due to incomplete work on Dr. Foster's part. The endodontist that I saw had the right equipment and easily found the canal that Dr. Foster claimed was not visible. Even my untrained eyes and ignorance around x-rays could see where she had missed a canal. The problems with my tooth are fixed, but not without major expenditure. I asked Dr. Foster for a partial refund due to the incomplete work, and she denied any kind of refund and placed the blame and responsibility back in my lap for so called "refusing" a referral at the time she did the root canal. She didn't refer me. She said she could do it, and I simply agreed to it, because I wasn't given a choice. Her staff even said "Dr. Foster does beautiful root canals, you'll love her work." I would have chosen a specialist had I been given a choice. I thought that she would have referred me immediately, in the same manner that she had when I first sought out her care. She didn't. So, here I am, out $$ due to having had to have the same procedure done (correctly, this time) twice on the same tooth. So, if you need anything more than general cleaning, a check up, or a cavity filled, find another dentist. Or, be sure to get second opinions. I regret not having gotten one in 2018, because I had to get as second root canal on the same tooth to correct and fully finish what had not been done at the time.

I'm a long-time friend of Dr. Tydeman's from high school, which you'd think would give him an…read moreautomatic advantage in the review department. Not so. I was actually way more nervous to see a dentist that's a friend, and we each had something on the other: I've got total dental phobia and didn't really want him to witness any childlike freakouts. And I've seen him... well, do all the stuff we all do in high school that makes you unsure your friends there will ever be competent professionals down the road. But Ian was different - always took his studies very seriously, treated others with respect, made good decisions. A diamond in the high school rough, you could say. I think he knew he wanted to be a dentist even then - he's had a passion for it as long as I can remember. So I decided to ditch my old drag-me-to-my-annual dentist and take my new toothache to Mayerle. The office was super clean, modern, convenient [right off the freeway and with a parking lot], and thoughtfully has a kids area in the waiting room with toys and a healthy teeth cartoon playing. Everyone there was fantastic. I'm rather complicatedly between insurance plans, and Alicia at the front desk went above and beyond to help sort it out. The whole team of technicians and assistants was kind, gentle, and knowledgeable. They all really seem to care about their profession and their patients. Dr. Tydeman is now the best dentist I've ever had. In my initial appointment, he took time to read and inquire about my health history on the new patient forms, and to consider its impact. At operation time, he patiently got me through my squeamishness (well, the Ativan helped too), and had a demeanor you could trust any scared kid with. He talked me through every step of my procedure so I'd know what was coming, and explained the situation with a mirror because I wanted to see. He was appropriately conservative in his treatment, which I appreciated emotionally and financially. I left the office, slept off the drugs with a nap, and by the time I woke up I couldn't even tell I'd had any work done. No sensitivity at all in the tooth or in the local anesthetic area, and it looks fantastic. Bottom line: I'm a dentist hater, and came to Mayerle with an extra-scrutinous eye. Dr. Tydeman and his team exceeded every expectation, and I highly recommend them - even if you don't need the babying I did.

Up until about 6 months ago everything was great. Until they started pushing this treatment on my for my pre-periodontal disease that costs thousands of dollars out of pocket that insurance DOES NOT pay for. I work hard for my health insurance. They were asking at least 50% out of pocket to even begin the treatment. This is something that with my wages I could not afford. And in this world we live in I couldn't even save for at this point. The dentist even came in at one point to take a look at my teeth. Gave me crap about not wanting to the the treatment because I can afford it and said "well hopefully she doesn't mind loosing her teeth" and walked out.... Awful. Two routine cleanings happened and I was due for a deep cleaning but they would not schedule it unless I committed to this treatment I couldn't afford. After my last cleaning I received a letter in the mail from the dentist that they no longer wanted me as a patient. It's a shame. After speaking to several other dentist offices about this experience they all said that this treatment is only a temporary fix and a lot of places get commission off of this treatment if their patients elect to do it.
