Dr. Oishi and his assistant Marla are weirdly unprofessional. Whenever I would ask questions about the procedure, Dr. Oishi would answer me with attitude and every appointment felt rushed as if I wasn't worthy of their time. During my follow up appointment after my wisdom extractions, I had a procedure done (same day) due to an infection. Since the procedure was unexpected, Marla and Dr. Oishi were rushing. So much so that when Marla was suctioning, she told me to close down on the suction, however she took matters into her own hands and aggressively grabbed my mouth and closed my lips FOR me, even though I was about to close down myself. Obviously Dr. Oishi was right there and weirdly didn't say a word about her aggressive action. After the appointment, Marla discussed post-care options and left the room without saying anything. Me not knowing if I was good to checkout, I walked out of the exam room myself and saw her all the way down the hall waiting near the exit yelling at me to "come this way!!" As an assistant it is her job to communicate and lead the patient to check out, instead of saying nothing and just leaving the room for the patient to wonder what to do next. Dr. Oishi would also respond to his assistants in a rude way and would ask them for instruments with attitude. For example, he asked an assistant for a mirror and didn't specify the type of mirror he wanted. She gave him a small hand mirror to look inside of a patients mouth. However he actually wanted a big mirror that the patient could hold for themselves, so he snapped at his assistant, "Not that mirror! The big patient mirror!" I felt bad for that one assistant because she was the only nice one there (short lady with filipino accent). Part of me believes Dr. Oishi and Marla treated me like this because I am young (19) and often attended appointments alone. So there was no parent to call out on their wrongdoings. They also didn't know I worked in dentistry, but I caught many little unprofessional aspects of their working environment and how they treat patients. As a dental assistant, I know bad patient care when I see it. I don't know if I just caught these workers on a "bad day." But bad day or not, no health care worker should treat their patients like this and doctors, like Dr. Oishi should be more courteous to their assistants, especially in front of patients. read more

If you need to have your wisdom teeth removed, this is definitely the place to go! I had all four of mine removed by Dr. Oishi with the assistance of Marla. Dr. Oishi and Marla are amazing people who genuinely care for your health and well-being and are excellent at their jobs. Marla explained everything that would happen during my appointment. She eased my anxiety by giving me a general outline of what would happen from start to finish. Dr. Oishi thoroughly went over my xray prior to the extraction and explained any risks involved. Throughout the extraction, he walked me through everything he was doing which was so reassuring and calming. They both made sure I was comfortable and not in any pain. The two of them worked like a well-oiled machine! Dr. Oishi followed up in the afternoon to check on my status and allowed me to address any concerns or ask any questions. I recently hat to have tooth pulled & was referred to these guys, I gotta say it was the best possible experience under this type of circumstance and considering we were on a home lock down ... From the moment I walked in I was given very special care almost, but not quite, fawned over. Prior to the extraction, the nurse explained everything that was going to happen & then what I would need to do afterwards. The extraction itself was quick and painless, again the nurse explained everything to me and gave a paper with everything she had explained...... PMC was extremely nice and accommodating for my semi self induced emergency tooth debacle. My pain was 10/10 and I needed an extraction ASAP. A lot of other surgeons were not even open and one other particular office had no appointments - even for emergencies - for at least a week and told me that despite my "emergency" that there were many other people in my shoes and that they had to wait too. To hear this was disheartening to say the least as I held one hand to the side of face in a futile attempt to assuage my pain (it didnt help). I desperately cold called PMC (based on their Yelp reviews) and the office admin who answered the phone was a like was my angel of mercy at when I was at my lowest point. She was extremely warm and patient in explaining what they could offer, what the procedure would be like, what my insurance covered (I was convered), etc. Despite my last minute request they were able to over book me into an appointment quickly and did so with warmly and professionally. My tooth extraction: Dr. Haruki is very professional and skilled as an Oral Surgeon. He patiently removed my sad and damaged tooth and cleaned up the residual infected tissue with patience and persistence. He spent a lot of time to make sure all the surrounding infected tissue was removed. The Dental assistant was also great - a combination of professionalism and kindness in a most unkind situation. After my procedure, Dr. Haruki called me a few hours at the end of his day to check up on me. I've had NO post op pain and only wish I had come in sooner. I've had two minor surgeries (extractions), at this office. Each time I have been treated exceptionally well. I don't say that as a casual appreciation, because I have anxiety and they have always made me feel calm, and they let me know everything as we went along. I elected to have the nitrous gas to take the edge off and I'm sure it helps all of us get through the procedure as calmly as possible. My insurance does not cover the cost of the gas - but I don't feel as panicked, and I feel the trade off is easier on my anxiety. They explained every step and are compassionate with their patients. The staff is always professional in appearance and in customer service. The office is very clean and bright. I have not been to the Honolulu office, but I'm sure it is just as clean. They are all friendly and made me feel at ease. I realize that this office performs oral surgeries and extractions - but it's not often that a business surprises me so when they do I feel they deserve a positive review. They only take referrals from the patients dental clinic, but this is a great location if you have options and are trying to decide. read more

After years and years of avoiding the procedure, I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed here at Pacific Maxillofacial Center. Honestly, if I had known that I would have such a great experience here, I would have gotten it done earlier! My teeth had been bothering me for a while and I decided that it was time to do something about it. I didnt have any dental insurance but that pain was so much that I was willing to pay out of pocket to get the issue fixed. I found this office on Yelp and the excellent reviews encouraged me to bite the bullet and schedule a consultation. From the moment I called the office to schedule the consultation, my experience has been excellent. The ladies who work the front desk are knowledgable, kind, and always ready to help and answer questions. They were able to easily help me sort out a payment plan, for which I am so grateful. The nurses/assistants are thorough during the consultation and the procedure. They always let me know what they were doing before they did anything, which I appreciated. They made sure to let me know everything that was happening and what to expect. My time with Dr. Oishi was short, but great. He explained everything that I needed to know, did the procedure excellently, and called after to check in on me. I chose to go under general anesthesia as I had a lot of anxiety about the procedure. Honestly, it was over so fast it was like it didnt even happen! Four days later, I have very minimal pain and I am healing well. I think this is because of the preparation and care that was taken during the procedure. If I ever had to do a procedure like this again, I would not hesitate to come here. My son's ortho referred us to Dr. Haruki to get two wisdoms pulled and a tooth repositioned. We had a consultation and the front office staff were really nice and friendly. The nurse and Dr. went over everything and explained to us the procedures as well as our options for anesthesia, and made our appt before leaving. The day of the procedure, my son was nervous. They took him in and we waited for about an hour for the entire procedure/recovery. We went back to get him (because he had general anesthesia) and he was waiting in the recovery room, they told us he was very nervous but helped him to relax and they seemed to have taken good care of him. The nurses went over carefully what the aftercare procedures were and then Dr. Haruki came in to explain what was done and had showed us the before and after X-rays. We were told to call the office or his cell if we had any questions or issues throughout the day or the days to come. Later that evening, Dr. Haruki called us to see how our son was doing and made sure we kept him hydrated. One week later after the procedure, they texted me to do a follow up on my son. They let me know if we have any future questions or problems to reach out to them because they are there if we need them. Totally recommend Dr. Haruki and his staff! read more

My dentist recommended me to this location because I had to take all 4 of my wisdom teeth out. It is a scary feeling having to go through it, but once I made an appointment and met Dr. Oishi, my anxiety was relieved a little. I chose the option of going to sleep because I really didn't wanna have to deal with an hour or so of pulling and hearing everything going on. The receptionists were welcoming and the nurses were extremely nice. The day of my surgery, they talked me through everything and made me feel comfortable. Recovery went well because they inform you about everything you need to know. Got a call a couple hours later from them as they were checking up on me. In IMMENSE PAIN on Christmas Day. I was eventually referred by my Endodontist to Dr. Oishi at PMC for a tooth extraction. Upon entrring the staff was friendly and very helpful. I lucked out as there was a cancellation and I was given an appointment the very next day. If I said I wasnt nervous the day of the procedure, I would be lying. However, upon my arrival the staff was welcoming and friendly. They had me fill out the "routine" 3-4 pages of paperwork, etc., then took me to the CHAIR. Dr. Oishi and hos assistant Breeann (I think that was her name) was very thorough in explaining the procedure, the risks, etc., and did everything to make me feel comfortable. The pain during the removal was minimal and I felt good leaving because I was assured more than once that if there was any questions to call, was also given an after hours number to call just in case. To top it all off, Dr. Oishi called me in the evening to see how I was doing and to assure me to call if I need to. With that being said, after calling this office and being assisted by Lani, I am very pleased to share that Lani not only was warmly professional, she was very accommodating and thorough. Was referred by my dentist. Staff was AWESOME! Dr did my procedure in such a short time and the best part, I didn't feel a thing.

Referred to Dr. Haruki (next to Costco, Waipio) by my regular dentist who I have been seeing for many years. He said I HAD to have 3 teeth extracted, and I made appt. w/ Dr. Haruki office. My dentist says he was the BEST Oral Surgeon he knew. Dr. H had instructions from my Reg Dentist on what had to be done. Had to wait for about 20 min to get escorted into exam room, even though I was exactly on time. Met Dr. and assisting nurse. made comfortable as possible in patient chair. Nervous as hell, no less. Dr. H closely reviewed my list of medications I gave him as well as my complicated Medical History. Procedure started quickly, and in no time it was all done. Nurse gave me a rapid fire review of post-op things I should and shouldn't do, including the fact I could NOT use a straw. I had to have the nurse repeat post-op instructions again and much slower so I could grasp all the details. She gave me printouts to review, and instructed me to use an ice pack (little good did that do) if necessary. About 1 hour after procedure, I started to have some real pain issues. By the time I got home, the pain was really intense and rapidly increasing. Called office and explained that the two tylenols they told me to take for pain. wasn't doing a damn thing. I explained my pain level was excruciating, NOW an 8 out 10. Nurse put me on phone with Dr. H and I explained I was"dying". Dr. explained to me to also take naprosyn tablets, BUT he COULD not and WOULD NOT prescribe anything stronger. The naprosyn did take a LITTLE of the edge off, but still I was suffering really badly. Next day I called again, but did not get any sympathy except "have I used an Ice-Pack?" I could not eat anything for 5 whole days due to pain, only drank fluids. NOT one person in whole practice, Dr. or nurse bothered to call me up to see how I was during those 5 miserable days of my life, that I lost. I believe that a Dr., knowing that his patient that he just operated on was at an 8/10 pain level couldn't eat, should have had a conscious and professional obligation to have someone in his office, if not himself call me. Maybe there was something really wrong with his surgery, and I should come back in to get checked out? The option was never offered to me. NEVER again will I go back to him or his practice. Now, i shudder with extreme anxiety whenever I have to see my regular dentist. In addition, I reamed my dentist out for referring me to him: Dr. H. Shame on him. read more

These ladies are genuinely nice and very good at what they do with the billing and scheduling. I saw Dr. Oishi for the consult and procedure and he made me very comfortable with the process. I'm a vet with some weird health issues and he worked around them with ease. The day of the procedure I was nervous and his dental assistants made me feel as calm as I could be. Got all four of my wisdom teeth pulled today. My anxiety was on steroids when I arrived as I am the biggest chicken when it comes to dentistry. After getting checked in, I'm called in and Leona starts walking me through the process to put me at ease. I opted for nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and local anesthetic. She put the mask over my nose & then she put the "topical skewers" in my mouth so I wouldn't feel the needles. I started taking deep breaths and began to relax. Dr. Loo comes in asks if I was ready; my response, " is anyone ever really ready for this?" We all laugh and the procedure begins with needles. I think I got 4-5 shots and only felt one a little. I didn't feel anything else during. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Loo!! read more

I experienced the best customer service today at the Pacific Maxillofacial Center. I'm scheduled to have one of my molars and wisdom tooth extracted for tomorrow but when I stopped by today to give them my documents and xrays from my dentist who referred me to them today, one of their customers didn't show up so they were able to accommodate me and had my teeth extracted. All the staff are so friendly and nice. They are all professional and explained me everything after the surgery. After surgery, I was provided with postoperative instructions which helped because I tend to forget what to do once I get home from any surgery. So My primary dental office refer me to this office on the day I called regarding about the pain and tooth ache I've been having. I had an awesome experience here. Called late Thursday to schedule an emergency for a broken wisdom tooth appointment and try got me in Tuesday pm. I couldn't believe how fast I got in. The staff was so helpful with everything over the phone. My appointment was for 2:45 with a suggested arrival of 2:15 for new patient paperwork and X-rays. I showed up at 2 was completely done by 3pm! Talk about speedy. The atmosphere here is great and the assistant Marla was great at walking me through pre-op and post-op care. She even got me a blanket so that I wasn't too cold during procedure. One of the best things Marla did was explain what sounds and feelings were okay to experience and which ones weren't. I did feel some pinching during procedure and signaled to her. Dr. Haruki was kind and helpful. Although I came in for just the one wisdom tooth, this is where I'll come back to get my other ones removed. I can't say enough good things. Dr. Haruki even called me several hours later to check on my and remind me of the after care procedure! I've had offices and secretaries call to follow up before but never a real doctor or surgeon. I felt very well cared for and even though I don't have dental insurance Christine at the front desk and Anna over the phone were great at quoting my procedure.
