Parking is pretty easy with plenty of street and nearby options, and there are great restaurants around the area, perfect for dinner before an evening show. Ice cream too! Perfect location, right?! Snacks and various drinks are available before the performance, tickets are reasonably priced and easy to purchase online, and the staff is friendly. Many are volunteers and they are so sweet! The productions are high-quality and thoughtfully done. I recommend for a great night of theater. They even have musicals, so I may return for one later this year, or maybe for a comedy.

Nice Theater, "Matt and Ben" Not So Much…read more The theater has been hugely renovated since I was last there years ago -- much improved! There's a spacious lobby with a bar, although they only had one person on the bar and it was slow going. At the box office (inside) they just asked for our name and didn't bother seeing the tix on my phone. Staff were friendly. The theater itself is small. They allow drinks in that you've purchased there. (No food, although I watched one woman open a bag of crackers). The usher sent us to the wrong row, causing confusion and the letters on the end of the rows weren't obvious. There are several bathrooms, including a couple of non-gender ones. Free parking can be found at the train station behind the theater. The play we saw, 'Matt and Ben' was not great. I give it 2/5. The cast wasn't what I was expecting and it wasn't that funny, they dropped f-bombs all the time and I was ready for it to end after about 15 minutes.

La Paloma Theatre - It needs a lot of TLC but I love these old theaters.

There probably isn't one person on Yelp who remembers the old Ken Theater in Kensington. The Ken…read morewas around forever, maybe 60 or 70 years, before it sadly folded. La Paloma is the closest thing around to the dearly departed Ken. How is it like the Ken? On the positive side, it shows an eclectic mix of movies on the big screen that you can't find anywhere else. Like "Groundhog Day" on Groundhog Day. Like "Casablanca" and "2001: A Space Odyssey." Like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," a mostly awful movie that I have seen on the big screen too many times to admit. The ticket prices are reasonable. The design of the theater itself, although the building is clearly falling apart, is unique. The popcorn is freshly made. You can hear the Coaster train roll by a couple of times every showing. Now, you need to know that some of the seats are literally falling apart. The ones that aren't falling apart are not comfortable. This is not Cinepolis. Still, a few of us appreciate these old dinosaurs because of what they offer and what you can't find anywhere else.

The owner is super chill (along with his furry sidekick who enjoys belly scratches) and does a great job rotating movies from new, old and independent films. Ticket prices do vary depending on the event. Sometimes I've paid $1, other times $12, but for my all time favorite Rocky Horror Picture Show, it's priceless!!! Highly recommend catching a midnight show on Halloween with a live performance. Here are some key points if you plan on visiting: * Parking - There is parking directly behind the theater in the transit center or you can find off street parking. * Cash Only - This is a cash only venue. Unless you visit their website and buy tickets online but you will have to pay a service fee. It's honestly not necessary because the theater is not crowded (except for special events, did I mention Rocky Horror). *Concession Stand - They do serve some of the best popcorn with real butter. Trust me, buy some! Sodas, Red Bull, teas, and candy. Again, cash only. * Restrooms - Always clean, well stocked. * Seating - Ok it's a very old theater and the seats match the esthetic. They are old, worn down, musty but hey, no complaints. Just enjoy the show! Check their website for the latest showing and times. Retro Rewinds are a must!

We have been there for bands, magic shows, seasonal shows etc. and have not been disappointed. The featured cover bands are the best! Anyway, walking into the theater is like walking into someone's home. The staff treats you like family! It is the complete OPPOSITE of all the stressful hoops you have to jump through at a large arena style event. The lobby is quite comfortable and has a lot of artifacts showing the amazing history of the resort. Will probably take a few visits to go through it all. One last thing. They made an error on their schedule which resulted in me having tickets on two different dates of the same event. Rather than send an email, they personally called me and gave me options that quickly resolved the issue! Although we've been guests at Welk's Theater for just over a year, I sure wish I had known about them sooner...

Yep, $25 and the towels are worn and frayed. Please, is this a Motel 6? And forget about semi weekly cleaning. That's a fee of $25! When we switched due to moving, my daughter was at first upset because at age 11.5 she was about to start pointe at the other studio. What I really loved right away was how she was immediately evaluated to see if she was even ready for pointe. Ms. Shannon did a fantastic job explaining in great detail where my daughter had a few weaknesses in her ankles, and proper body alignment. She was given detailed notes on how to strengthen and correct things to get her ready to start pointe. As a mom new to dance all together, I would have never known this if I let the other studio just put her on pointe without evaluating to see if she is truly ready. My daughter really took a good understanding of this and followed the instructions to work hard to get herself strong enough. The process may have taken a little longer but we both felt so happy knowing she wouldn't be putting her body at risk by rushing into it. Now she's on her third pair of pointe shoes and progressing more and more every class. We are so happy here and love all of the staff. I'd highly recommend checking it out if you're comparing other studios. My daughter is very happy we switched after all. She's making new friends and loving the variety of classes too.
