I can't believe this is a working VFW post no hours of operation, no way to contact the post. Nobody answers the phones during the day..

The Elks Lodge folks did a fantastic job of organizing this popular event, which turned out beautifully. The tables were gorgeously set and the finger foods & desserts were tasty. There were a variety of very nice items offered for raffle prizes & auction. The auction was very lively with several ladies outbidding each other. It was fun seeing the ladies wearing their hats and fascinators & looking rather elegant! We are all looking forward to next year! Thank you to the Elks for working so hard at executing this amazing event and making it so successful!

Such a wonderful event! We were honored to be served by the Men in Kilts. The event started at 11 am, we were late due to traffic. There was tea (although in packets, rather than loose leaf) it made it convenient because we did not have the luxury of knowing who we will be seated with & their choices or preference. It was lovely as it was served in beautiful tea cups provided by the volunteers at this Elks Lodge. Tea first after we bought tickets to place our raffle tickets at the front. Items on display were donated by various members to win as prices. A booklet of ticket cost $10 w/ 11 tickets available. Additionally, there are also items up for bidding, also donated by members: a few paintings which were hand painted by members/volunteers, wines, Bath & Body Works sets, etc. Last year, a hand carved wine rack auctioned for nearly $500. Our tea was served with finger sandwiches & scones. There were plenty of scones! Jams & lemon curd was served as well, cheesecakes etc. Drawing happened right after tea. I won a tissue box with Tropical painted flowers. My other friends won a set of coffee mugs & margarita mixes. Oh, almost forgot, my friend, Vuoch also bought us a bottle of champagne for the whole table- not too shabby! The creative tea hat contest was decided by the audience clapping & the judge decided to grant the top 3 as winners. I loved the lady's hat that had a garden theme with lady bugs adorning it. Bidding like auction style was exciting! A few bottles of Mondavi wine sold for $300, if I'm not mistaken. Some 2 popular sets had tea sets with fascinators, lace gloves & lace-y fancy fan. (Think Scarlet O' Hara era). This year, Men in Kilts sang to a "Drunken Scotsman" song for the guests (us). It was a wonderful event, just dressing up was so much fun because I am not one to wear these costumes--first of all, a dress, rare occasion. I loved this venue. The camaraderie between the Elk Lodge members shows how deeply rooted they are with each other & the community. The proceeds help the lodge help the community. Would love to be invited again. Plenty of parking, free. Tickets for tea. $20.

For several years, my husband's company had their annual award banquet there. It would always start out before sunset so that we had great views. Each side of the room offers a view of downtown and beyond. Then they would have a very professional staff passing appetizers and serving cocktails, and then a fancy dinner. Another time, my husband surprised me with a show at Symphony Hall downstairs, that included drinks and desserts at the University Club upstairs. It was beautiful and indulgent. More recently, a friend had given us tickets to Sunset Sips, a monthly themed-tasting. It was Spanish-themed when we went. They had vendors set up with various Spanish wines and liquors. They even included a couple of small appetizers to set off the them. A little over a week ago, a friend invited me to a San Diego Magazine party. It was a bit less "all inclusive" as the first cocktail was included, but after that it was a cash bar. They had some passed appetizers and a cold appetizer buffet. It was beautiful as always, had a DJ and some cute games, as well as a raffle. We were able to take a few photos before sunset. I cannot comment on the University Club membership, or any of the regular dining, as I have always come for a special event in the private event room. I hope I get invited back there soon!

The renovation is lovely and you can't beat the view. They offer valet parking but there was plenty of street parking (for a small fee as the meters ended shortly after I arrived). The lobby is big and wood paneled with seating. There are people there to direct you to your destination as well. The elevators offer the floor number choices on the outside so make sure you pick the right one. When you reach the top level and walk out of the elevator you walk into the restaurant. The sun was setting and it was dimly lit. The views were gorgeous. Our event was in a separate event space. Again the views were stunning. We checked in and ventured to get a cocktail. We chose their French 75 special. While in line we were offered an ahi poke sample. It was very fresh and flavorful. There was a DJ playing a mix of music in the background. The tables had various games and puzzles on them which was a fun addition. We admired the views from different angles. There was a good sized charcuterie table in the middle. I grabbed a small plate of a variety of items. We stood at one of their stand up tables and nibbled whilst we chatted with other guests. It was a very eclectic crowd of varying ages. We spoke to Reny (director of membership) at the membership table and she told us about all the membership options. I learned a lot and looking at the upcoming calendar they host some great sounding events. They really have a lot to offer. I look forward to returning in the future.
