So happy to finally get a nice poke place in Santa Clarita area, but so disappointed when I visited. I really wanted to like this place too because the lady working there was so sweet, but I just couldn't. I ordered a small poke bowl with white rice as my base and spicy shrimp&krab and spicy tuna as my proteins. I am a huge fan of spicy mayo, but I suspect that the spicy mayo was old, as it had a funky smell to it. In addition, the spicy mayo completely took over my bowl, and so I had to throw away all the other yumminess in my bowl. The fish (of what I could taste that wasn't completely doused in spicy mayo) tasted fresh and flavorful! The seaweed salad was perfect! The onion and garlic crunch could have been a bit more crunchy, but wasn't terrible. Overall, I was extremely disappointed by this place, especially after seeing all the promising reviews. read more

I hate writing this review because this used to be our absolute favorite poke place, but lately I feel like you don't get what you pay for. Please keep in mind that I've given them three chances, because I know that sometimes restaurants have off days. So here's my issue with Pacific Kitchen -- This place is good BUT a large is definitely a small and you'll pay way too much for it. This has been my experience the last few times we've been here. My last visit, I ordered a large and even added extra. Paid $19 and some change and received less than half of a bowl? Literally compared it to my daughter's small bowl and they were the same. This has happened the last few times. Seems like they charged me for a large but gave me a small portion in a large plastic bowl. Not worth the money. Oh and they charge for the miso soup now. I get that inflation is affecting everyone, but it just seems like you are not getting what you pay for here. It'll be a while before I try them again. Hopefully they go back to the way they used to be. So take it from me...check your orders. If you get a small and a large it is very probable that your large bowl will only be half full. Hidden gem! Looking for a new, local experience, I picked this little place and met a friend for lunch this week. My friend ordered a 3-protein poke bowl, choosing brown rice (there are three other "base" options, and customers can mix half & half) and salmon, spicy krab/shrimp and pan-fried tofu + seaweed salad, edamame, Asian slaw and a whole host of other vegetables. Topped off with crispy fried onions and two different dressings, every bite disappeared from her bowl even though she swore she would only eat half! I ordered their Asian chicken salad with two dressings, and it was delicious. The young lady who composed our dishes was VERY patient and clearly explained the flavor and heat of the six dressing options. When it's your first time in, there's a lot to consider. Chojahng? Volcano? Ginger Ponzu? My one small criticism was that the tasty chicken on my salad was a bit dry. I did mention this to the owner, Danny, who was in residence. He seems genuinely interested in his customers, and we had quite the conversation with him, making our lunch even more memorable. There was only one other customer at noon on a Friday, but I must say the restaurant was immaculate. I tried a poke bowl. The sushi rice I selected for it was somewhat undercooked. I had chosen the three-protein bowl, but the scoops for the protein were about one-third the size as those at my favorite Valencia poke place-- and at a higher price. The quality of the fish was okay. I added on the green onion, the seaweed salad (rather stringy strands), and the Krab salad (rather tasteless). The staff were quite friendly/helpful. Ordered a large poke bowl. This consisted of 4 proteins with however many sides as you please. I got every side possible. For the 4 proteins I got ahi, spicy tuna, salmon, crab. For the sides I got cucumber, seaweed, corn, fish eggs. With volcano sauce on the top. This bowl had such a mesh different flavors all working well together. The freshness of the fish was superb as well as all the sides. The volcano sauce was a mix of all the sauces together being creamy, spicy (not spicy at all), and savory. Honestly, the shop is very clean, the staff are nice. I would give them 5 stars for cleanliness and attentive. As for food quality I would not recommend. 1. We order 2 large and one small pokes. I was appalled with minimum choices of toppings. The spicy aioli looked white and sweet. We showed our hesitation to the woman helping us and I believed she is the owner. She quickly explained that they made the sauce in house and it should look like at and will be spicy. Well, what do we know, right?? Well all of us ended up dumped our pokes after few bites and we had NEVER done so with any food in regardless how bad they were. 2. If you're looking for fresh poké, good customer service you've found the right place. I had always passed pacific kitchen while going to Stevenson Ranch donuts at 5am. Always curious if this was worth a try, it was! I had came in a few weeks ago with a woman working behind the counter. She was very informative and explained what different sauces they had to offer. Very patience and not being annoyed of me changing me dressing selection or adding extra sauce on the side. Fish is fresh! Quantity is pretty fair amount! Took me a while to finish off the large size bowl. Although the brown rice threw me off how it was more on the cold side. I still enjoyed the poke bowl over all. The restaurant is clean. The staff is friendly. The fish tastes fresh so that is definitely a good sign and the complimentary miso soup was good. The only complaint we have is that we ordered online and our orders were not correct. One bowl was supposed to have 1/2 rice & 1/2 salad but it was all rice. And the sauce selection wasn't the same as we selected. It tasted odd. The other bowl wasn't supposed to have wasabi on the bowl, we requested on the side but it was on top. When we called to let them know of the mistake, they were willing to give us a bowl of salad to fix their mistake but we weren't able to drive all the way back. Accuracy is important with take out as it's such an inconvenience to make a second trip. We'll probably give them a second chance because they were super nice and everything tasted fresh. read more

Although it would take me 30+ minutes to get there from my house, it was worth it for me. They used to have complimentary miso soup. Sometimes I would take it, sometimes I said no. I liked it, but it wasn't a big deal that it wasn't complimentary anymore. I stopped going for a couple of months and went back this week. I was so excited because I had been craving poke and finally made the time to drive there. To my surprise, prices had increased! I get it, everything is more expensive and they have to compensate somehow, but what surprised me the most was the fact that you can't get all your toppings anymore. You can only pick 5 things, which is very sad. You pay more for less food; it just doesn't make sense! I love this place, but I don't think I will be coming back and bringing my friends here. The Best Poke!! I found this place pre pandemic. This was my first time back since 2020 and since I don't live close and am not in the area much I forgot how amazing their poke really is. The fish tastes incredibly fresh and what good poke should taste like, I mean like Hawaii, not Glendale. But the last 2 times I ordered online for take out, I ordered extra 4 proteins (2 per order) since the portion sizes are a bit small. Both orders, they did not add the extra proteins that I had ordered and paid for. I emailed and called and didn't get a response. Keep this in mind when you order online. Double check they are actually giving you your order. Trust is important to me. The fish has tasted fresh when I have ordered food from them in the past but if I can't trust them to do the right thing behind my (a customers) back, I don't know if this is the right place for me. read more

Found this gem on here (thanks again, Yelp) and brought my younger sister in for lunch. I live in the valley and she is from northern California, so purely a random pick based off overall complimentary reviews. There were a couple of poke places in a 5 mile radius and I chose this spot! Now, my little sis normally eats poke bowls from the sushi section at her local grocery store... so she was in store for something miraculous and fresh. We both got a bit of everything... I got the spicy tuna, she got the ahi. She got hers on a bed of lettuce and with roe and ginger (neither of which I like) in her bowl where I opted for white rice as my base and spicy mayo with all the toppings (garlic, crispy onions, bean sprouts, seaweed salad, furikake and more). It was fun to know we liked the same things, but with different variations. Cashier was very friendly and quick to confront on why we hadn't visited before, LOL. We don't live over here! We will be back... or, I will. I did take a business card and upon returning home, realized it was a punch card more or less. We ordered three small bowls, and although the cost was nearly $60 our small bowls were only filled up half way (like a child's portion). We have been proud supporters of Pacific Kitchen (PK) for years. The owner was always super nice and he was always quick to greet us when we would came in. It has been a few years now and he doesn't seem to be at the store very much anymore. This used to be my favorite restaurant in SCV, but after my last 3 visits (yes I'm that loyal), I can't go here anymore. #1 Food: This is hands down the best poke in SCV. Everything is always fresh and delicious. HOWEVER, they used to have free miso soup with purchase. A few weeks ago, I learned that they now charge extra for it. No big deal... it wasn't that good anyway. Over the past few years, the portions have gotten smaller... and smaller... and smaller. Typically, you can get as many toppings as you would like (like chipotle), but I went in today and was surprised by this. "You may choose up to 5 toppings". Um... my usual order has like 9 toppings!!! Oh and the price went up $1. WAY less food, for $19.33. #2 Value: In 2020, this was the best spot for poke. After today's visit, I think my go-to order would cost $25+. I can't justify paying $19 for a bowl that I can't even get what I want in it. #3 Service: The owner's wife seems to be running the place now. I haven't seen him in probably 2 years. She is often rude and tends to rush customers as they order. She asks what you want next before she even reaches for your previous topping and before you can even finish speaking... even with no line behind me. #4 Inconsistency: The past three times I have gone there has been something different about the menu, price, or way to order. The first visit, I learned soup was no longer included. The second, I learned that I could only pick 5 toppings and the third, I learned that the price went up. Additionally, their portions vary often depending on which employee is working. If they accidentally give you a few extra pieces of corn, they will be sure to pick them out of you bowl for you and put them back. If their scoop of salmon isn't full, they just won't give a full portion. It used to be my favorite place to eat. Sadly I got some gift cards during the holidays, so I have to use them up, but unless PK changes something, I can't go back. Sadly, I think they are going to be going out of business, but increasing prices and lowering portion sizes isn't the way to go. The sign of a good restaurant is one that consistently makes its dishes the same every time. If you go in and order the same dish 10 times, you should get it close to the same each and every time. This is unfortunately not the case here. I've been coming here for a while and I've enjoyed the quality and the taste of what I've ordered, but at this point I can't get over the nickel and dime approach as it relates to the inconsistencies in preparation. To start off, I'm not complaining about the portion size of the protein. I'm complaining about the add-on items like corn, bean sprouts, cucumbers. Sometimes, the stuff gets piled on in generous amounts, other times it's noticeably stingy. On those times when I'd like a little more, I'm told it will cost extra. I'm perplexed. While on the one hand I understand this isn't subway, I also realize that I'm not asking for an extra pound of caviar and shaved truffle. It's fucking corn, cucumbers and cabbage. The other part of this is that, I'm not loading up on every damn thing they have available, I get my large bowl with 4 proteins and 3-4 add ons. I enjoy the food, and while I consider the price a little high it's not unreasonable. However, in order to have the food so that I enjoy it, I'm forced to pay additional charges. So unfortunately I'm less inclined to visit this establishment, because I don't know if I'm going to have to pay more than the posted price. read more
