I booked an appointment with Pacific Driver Education because I don't have a car to use for driver's test. I didn't really check the reviews. The Company is actually great! I don't know why some people got bad reviews here. I would'nt really blame the company or anyone because of a failure. I mean, you're the one in control of the car and the instructor's job is to see if you're a safe driver. If you failed the first try.. go work on your weakness! Practice more! watch videos! I don't think blaming it to someone will make you a better driver. Anyway, My experience was amazing. Instructor was clear with his directions. He said I had the potential for a perfect score! I was doing very well in the beginning. the mistake happened because it's something i haven't practiced well yet. But I will work on it. I still passed the first try! Just relax and be confident. Terrible Company. Extremely unprofessional and Rude. Wont Respond to your emails, calls, text or tickets. Tried to cancel my appointment and they "just happened" to not see any of my messages until the day after my appointment. Then they said because I didnt show up they are not able to refund me." Even after emailing them I had COVID and that was the reason I couldnt show up they didnt care. They quite literally stole my money and ran away laughing. Cancalation policy states that you can cancel for an approved reason. Then after they will try and tell you that you actually not the case and you cant cancell for any reason. read more

As far as curriculum, not very engaging but presented a lot of good, sound driving practices. My best experience is with Mirel in customer service. Gerry was not a great instructor. He didn't feel welcoming with his presence and didn't create an environment where one can learn.

I was doing a drive test with Instructor #3 (this was my second attempt for a drive test as I failed my first one by 6 points) and I got to an intersection where I needed to yield to cross-traffic and do a left turn. I pulled out into the intersection as a car was going through, and I was going to go after that car passed through. My instructor decided to take the initiative and stop for me even though I was already stopping on my own. This filled out the criteria for "instructor forced to stop vehicle" even though he was not forced as I was stopping anyway. When we were going over it later he used vague wording to make it seem worse than it was, and said (I quote) "I felt like he was turning." | turned the wheel to prepare myself to go but I was NOT turning in front of the vehicle. I explained this to him and he brought in someone else to de-escalate (instead of resolving) and got us to leave. Another instructor in the room pointed out to us that the drives are recorded but he did not offer to go through the recording with us. This company intentionally fails drivers to get them to spend more money on them for driving classes and lessons which are extremely overpriced, taking advantage of Oregon's horrible DMV system. Taking my drive test here was a last resort after three months of not being able to take an official drive test, and I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I don't know why people are rating this place so low! You guys need to understand that as a driver, we need to keep our instructor comfortable as much as possible. I made two mistakes, but still passed my driver test first attempt on 3/10/22. I also drove a KIA box car, which was difficult , but easier since it was a small car. If you failed, your instructor just wanted let you know that you need to practice a few things to be better on the next one! Thank you Steve for making this education happen! This company retaliated by refusing service for the 4th test I attempted to schedule lol failed me the first time two attempts then the third time I was unable to get out of work called in advance to try and reschedule which wasn't gonna fly with them so down $240 and still without a license I left a review here to warn people about their shiesty policies then months later on the phone with Rebecca down at pacific driver education trying to schedule the test again when she informs me that they can't schedule a test with me because of "prior conflicts" after telling me I was eligible to take the test, really glad the website wasn't working or I wouldn't have been able to figure that one out! Fantastic experience all around - my son took driving lessons, online courses/test and final drive test for license from here. Friendly instructors, great communication and easy process from start to finish. The instructors are very professional, yet kind and caring. I would not recommend friends or anybody to take a driving test with Pacific Driver education. Bad examiner robbed me, was about to pass the driver test, the examiner pulled a dirty trick on me. As I drove back to the company and stopped at one stop sign and I couldn't see the opened road. I took my driver's test today with Mark and he was so pleasant to test with! I came in being nervous but ready, and he just eased my worries away by being calm throughout the test. He's very friendly and easy to talk with which is helpful when you're so nervous. The staff was nice, Mark gave great directions, and the car was easy to drive. Pros: easy to get an appointment (much easier than the DMV) so it's great if you're eager to get licensed right away. The route is simple and not intimidating. Cons: One of my evaluators didn't tell me if I had passed or failed until a few minutes after the test - I waited for him to stop writing until he told me I failed. Ideally, they would tell you your results immediately, because waiting that long to get a result is pretty anxiety-inducing. My second evaluator gave me "constructive" criticism, albeit in the most obnoxious way imaginable... He once said "people die on these roads and it's because of people like you." Was he helpful? No. Was he taking out personal frustrations out on me just because he could? Yes. I left feeling shaken, anxious, and miserable. read more

I'm very impressed with this school. As an adult learning to drive, I had some serious anxiety about the process. I had five lessons through Pacific with two different instructors, both of whom were exceptionally knowledgeable. I had a slight preference for Mark. As a former EMT he was especially calm and reassuring, while also being appropriately frank. The cars were well maintained, with extra brakes and mirrors for the instructors. I got to try both a sedan and an SUV. I also took my test through Pacific using their vehicle, which went smoothly. My only complaint is that originally scheduling and rescheduling my lessons took a while - at one point I waited nearly two months for a couple of rescheduled lessons. However, this also indicates that they're popular (for good reason). read more

Scheduled an appointment here as DMV had an available slot only after 60+ days. Was in two minds as I had not taken their classes and was wondering if they would force me to attend one. I reached the centre before time for my appointment, the team was extremely professional. My examiner Logen McCray met me right on time, he immediately put me at ease with a casual chit chat on the way to driving car. Pacific has this rule of taking driving test in their cars, I was given an hatchback, it was quite easy to drive one after my SUV. The test lasted for roughly 20min-30min, was asked to drive through roads with varied speed limits, different types of turns with signals, signals with yield, without signals.. etc. There were no trick questions, instructions were given well in advance, in once instance I requested to repeat and he happily did so. I successfuly passed the test in first attempt, basis my experience I would highly recommend Logen McCray & Pacific. read more

My first experience with the school was March of 2020. I took my daughter to her appointment and they had closed. It was the day everyone shut down for covid. No call, couldn't get ahold of them and they could've called to cancel so I didn't show up. I waited months before taking my daughter and she had a great experience. Because of that great experienced I took my son in Sept 2023. The office staff were ok, the instructor was inpatient and unfriendly. When my son asked how to start the push button start car he was ignored. As my son adjusted the mirrors the instructor was inpatient. It was a bad experience. My son did not pass and the DMV had no openings for two months, pacific everything was taken for up to almost 3 months, I called a few other driving places and the same thing. I called HST and they had immediate openings same day and next day. I took my son there and they had the option of driving their car or our own car. We drove our own car which made a huge difference in the test. I feel like we wasted out time and money at Pacific. I gave the railing 3 stars because out of the 3 interactions with Pacific, one experience was great. read more

I recently decided to join the ranks of drivers after 25 years of biking. The concept of once again getting behind the wheel was very daunting and a friend suggested I take a lesson or two to help me get back in the swing of it. I reached out to Pacific Driver Ed and my experience was exceptional. The receptionist (I believe her name was Mareil?) was super friendly and helpful and Lois, my driving instructor, was amazing. Her knowledge, passion, and kindness helped give me the confidence I needed to ease back into the driving world. When my big day arrived, Mathew (my tester) did a great job putting me at ease. Just another company trying to make money in all possible way. Please understand business models like these guys have really low customer retention which is why they really value money than their customers. Because the chances of a customer keep coming back after getting their driver test is really low. It also saddens me to see many immigrants paying a high price just to get used to The US way of doing things. We need to uphold our businesses that serve immigrants at a higher bar, rather than just to allow them to take advantage of immigrants. If you are an immigrant who has a language and/or technology barrier, good luck with this company. They will not go out of their way to help their customers. My friend who I referred to this place spent all day preparing for this test, but because he misread his email he missed his appointment, and it is about to cost him $360 just to get another chance of behind the wheel test. After I tried to speak on behalf of my friend I was told the manager would contact me the next day, which did not happen. They made me keep coming back three times just to tell me when I would be able to meet the manager. To even worsen the situation, someone who works there but did not want to identify himself, at first, threatens to call a POLICE because I chose not to speak with him. He along with some other guy did not ask me to leave, they threatened me to leave. I thought it was just the front desk that was inexperienced with dealing newcomers but I was finally able to see the true color of their owner as well. Their front desk employees are young and it's very obvious they lack some customer service skills but I was surprised that they don't have someone to guide them on how to handle situations when a customer is not happy with the way they run their business. To top it off, the owner was also overbearing with a tyrannical appetite. She called me over the phone and hanged up without letting me say a word. In conclusion, they have very discriminatory, inexperienced customer service. During these current hard times related to COVID, even a penny lost is a lot for newcomers, but business-like this makes it even worse. They refused to talk to us then threatened to call the police on my brother! My cousin who is new to America went to get his behind the wheel test, he showed up almost 20 minutes late due to a misunderstanding. He has been here for less than a year, he is still learning English. This place however, sent him back, kept the money and demanded that he pay again if he wants to take a test. Then when my brother came 3 times to the office to try and talk with a manager about the whole situation but each time he was told that the manger wasn't in and would call him back and they never did. When my brother when I'm the third time they threaten to call the POLICE. I understand company has certain rules that are strict but the service that we got was TOTALLY unacceptable, and I really think their background and accent had something to do with it. I realized that I lost my temper and I looked like an angry mother hen protecting her chicks. I said some horrible things to you and I know it would deeply hurt a human being. I agree with you that every one is a human being but do you agree that we are unique individuals. We react to things differently. Now I would pray for me to learn from my mistakes and be a better human being but I would also pray for you to do the same. I wished you were a little caring, just put a little bit of passion into what you doing everyday and it would turn out totally different. I can understand that not everyone loves their job. I wish that your owner care for you guys a little more so that you would care for your students a little more. I didn't sense any of that from your office. This place is very easy to get to--right next to the last stop on the blue line MAX. I had a great lesson with Skip before the test. He had a very soothing voice, was low key but friendly, put me at ease. I've had some lessons at other schools and this one was better than most if not all. I failed the test three times previously through the DMV. All the examiners were dicks. The examiner at Pacific Driver Education was nicer and calmer. I felt more relaxed with this examiner, though still nervous. I made a few small mistakes but passed. read more

They changed their policy so new driver have to drive their vehicles. This puts an unfamiliar car in the hands of a new driver and increased the risk of failure and an accident. We spoke to the DMV and apparently this policy is unusual. They are very nice, but look at other schools. read more

Ridiculous. I don't know of how better to describe it! I have been teaching my now 18 year old son to drive for the last two years. He has not been overly motivated until recently, hence, the duration. Anyway, he has perfected all the skills I have taught him and has absorbed all the hints, rules, laws, etc., I have taught him. I trust him to drive implicitly. So we scheduled his drive test with the DMV--2 months waiting time. He begged me to get it sooner, so I found this place, PDE, who could test him right away. I won't even bother with the shockingly bad facility as that was irrelevant since we just wanted the test and leave. But the instructor--an older man who stepped out for a smoke break just before taking my son out for a drive. Thank you for that fresh stench. Then he failed my son who has been driving me around for the last 2 years for making wide right turns. WTF? So after the first one, you can't just say make them tighter? Did his turn put you guys in a dangerous situation? No. They were just 'too wide.' OMG. BS! So after the 7 day waiting period, we went back. A young guy took him out this time. No mention of the wide right turns this time, but he failed my son because he didn't look OVER his right shoulder before making right-hand turns. What?! If you're already in the right lane, what on earth would you be looking at? I can see if you're stopped and then turning, you would need to check for a pedestrian or bicycle, but if you are turning right in a moving vehicle, there is no way for these to be there that you would not have seen while approaching the intersection. Again, BS! These people are just trying to take your $$$. $110 down the tubes! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR $$$ read more

Driver's ed. is a big commitment in terms of time and cost, but well worth it. Pacific Driver Education is one of the best companies providing this service. Lois, and especially Pao, did an excellent job of engaging the teenagers and providing useful feedback to students and parents. The last class is a DMV-approved driving test. If the student passes, they only need to take the written test in order to get their license. I have no doubt that my daughter is a more skilled and safer driver after taking this course. Be warned, though, some of the driving laws have changed over the years and your teenager will enjoy pointing out everything you are doing wrong! It's a small price to pay, however, for a safer driver. read more

Beaverton review: I can't recommend these guys enough. I have an Australian drivers license, and decided it was time to get my US one. I booked lessons with a different school, and was so disappointed in many ways, and if the DMV wait time wasn't so long, I'd have probably failed my behind-the-wheel exam. I contacted Pacific as they are a third-party tester, and decided to have a lesson before the actual test to 'warm' up. They were friendly from the first phone call, and I was able to book my lesson and drive test back-to-back about a week out. My lesson with Devon was amazing, and I learned more from him than I did in 6 hours with the other school. Seriously. Tricks to parking and reversing were very welcome, because I struggled with these. Once you know the tricks, it all becomes easy! I then had my driving test with Steven. The test went by fairly quickly and isn't difficult, but add nerves to the mix and it can make our brains do weird things. Steven made it almost a pleasure to take a test, and worked hard (and sneakily! He is a very interesting person, with lots of psychology knowledge that combines beautifully with his driving expertise) to ease my nerves. Great conversation, and gratitude for making it as calm as possible. Success! I now have a US drivers license, and have these guys to thank for it. I would actually like to go back and do a lesson or two to strengthen my driving skills. Don't bother with going with the cheaper school..these guys are worth it! read more

I failed my first two times here on automatic conditions of failure which is whatever, it happens and we move on. The third time however, there was some sort of stingy grading and monitoring which I failed despite a near perfect attempt. Before the owner wants to be a wise ass and go tell me "I suggest you practice before another attempt", I had a test with the official DMV and I'm pretty sure I did worse on my DMV test than my third one at Pacific but I still passed and now I have my license. The owner is lucky you cannot reply to their smartass replies on Google. Don't waste your time and money with these clowns unless you are willing to invest $700 in their classes. Just practice at a different school like Horizon's Driver Education and schedule a test with the actual DMV. These clowns basically have a monopoly on the private testing in the county and you are better off just going to the DMV where instructors don't have any financial incentive to fail you. To the clown ass owner, as I said before, I have already taken one test at the DMV and passed. So don't even try coming up with some jive ass bullshit and hold the L. read more

I highly recommend the driver's education course here. My older child did a different company, which wasn't a great experience. For my younger child, we switched to this company and I am so glad we did! Excellent instruction, very useful and timely feedback to students and parents, and easy scheduling (this had been the hardest part with the other company). read more
