Loree, the owner of this driving "academy", is in desperate need of training relevant to business ethics, among other things. She is unpleasant in general, questionable in her role as an "instructor", and unapologetic as well as unaccountable. After an incident in her class where my high school daughter and I were specifically singled out for harassment, Loree determined that my intention to reach out directly to ODOT was a "threat", and expelled my daughter (who had participated respectfully and had never missed a single class session or driving lesson) from her program. A legal challenge had to be made, and a complaint to ODOT filed. If you prefer to interact with a driving school that is ethical, with a strong customer service orientation and an eye towards treating students fairly above all, this is not the right driving "academy" for your family. read more

Unfortunately disappointing; while it did take Loreen (the owner) several days to pick up the phone, that is not the most disappointing part of this review. While she may be an adequate "driving instructor," I don't believe that Loreen is necessarily at her best when she interacts with people. Especially when it involves taking accountability and apologizing. Loreen and I spoke on the telephone twice, for a length of time before coordinating dates/times that would best suit my daughters schedule and hers. After verbally discussing pricing and scheduling, a PayPal invoice was delivered to my email address. 1. The invoice was incorrect. When I telephoned Loreen, I asked her to please send a corrected invoice. She immediately countered with, "No, I didn't make an error. That is how much the driving lesson cost." Needless to say, the invoice was again emailed with the correct pricing. So YES, she did make an error and NO, she did not apologize. 2. An email with dates for the scheduled driving driving dates/times was to be emailed to my daughter. (I had placed them in my calendar as well). It was not emailed, even after calling twice to remind her. 3. Yesterday was suppose to be my daughters first driving lesson. At 10 minutes past the hour, no driving instructor had arrived. I telephoned Loreen, she said that she had no recollection of us speaking and that she certainly would not have scheduled driving instruction without payment. I DID pay, the same day that the invoice arrived, via PayPal. Which she discovered after looking at her payments. Her tone with me was condescending and rude. To finish out an otherwise long review; I understand that we all make mistakes. That life can be stressful and overwhelming. That being said, it would have been professional and humanly kind, for Loreen to apologize and make an attempt to remedy her error. Instead she has overbooked with other clients. After a couple telephone conversations, she is refunding me in cash today (I don't trust her to actually send a refund otherwise). People, integrity and kindness go a long way in this world. You will be pleasantly surprised how people lean into you, and are inspired by your light. Pay it forward here and there, and be kind. Take ownership if you have made a mistake and do your very best to remedy it. :-) read more

Difficult to get ahold of, but once the ball got rolling it was smooth sailing. My daughter desperately needed driving classes. The old father daughter lessons were not working out to say the least. Anyways, we took two lessons from here and I noticed huge improvements. More importantly, she was able to pass her written and driving test the first go around. Good find. read more

Mike Vanoundenhagen is the best! I signed up for a 4 hour pack of lessons to conquer a driving phobia and he was so great! Very calm and supportive and really knows his stuff but thats no surprise since he's been teaching driving for 30 years. I feel much more comfortable driving now and have become a better driver as a result of our lessons. Mike was easy to get hold of by phone or text for all my appointment scheduling. Wade is a great driving instructor and Loree went with me from my place to the moment I passed and got my driver's license and even went to my atm bank for me to be able to withdraw money and pay DMV in cash. They are calm being in the car with me and very friendly. I loved the fact that they can chat and teach me at the same time and staying very patient and making me feel at ease. Don't go here! Loree is rude and disrespectful to her students and parents alike. Learning to drive is stressful enough without adding scare tactics and insults. My daughter was so distraught after the first class that she withdrew and Loree refused to refund any part of her tuition (paid in full in advance for DMV course and in-car lessons). Loree then represented to me that my daughter wouldn't be able to find anyone else to get her licensed for at least 4 months. There ARE other options. This course was so so helpful and I'm super glad that I took it. The instructor for the classroom section was super nice and informative to where it wasn't boring to go through and I feel like I learned a lot. Even better, the driving section was even more helpful and is where I learned all of my skills to get my license. Don, my instructor was very nice and made me feel at complete ease when driving. He even went out of his way to take me on a last minute extra drive around the dmv I was taking my test at. Right after completing the course I passed both my license drive and written test fine and confidently. If you're looking for a course to learn all the skills for your license in a timely manner, I would definitely choose them! If you can, ask for Don as your instructor ! You won't regret it read more

If you can get your phone call returned, you are off to a good start. The classroom instructor lacks any kind of people skills and a great deal of respect. Laurie is rude and very unprofessional. To the point of being ugly and condescending. I have never been treated the way she treated me by someone I had never spoken to. Moving on to the drive time - Don Miller is TOP NOTCH. If you can request him, do it!! He is the only impressive part of this driving school. Showed my son how to change oil and basic auto maintenance on top of the drive lesson. He was always on time and my son really enjoyed his time with him. Overall, Tom's has made some poor choices by allowing Laurie to have human interaction, but with limited choices, you just have to stick with it. Mr. Miller is the only reason we didn't bail and find somewhere else to go. read more

I took private lessons where my instructor was never on time and canceled on me more then once.While driving dough felt safe never conformable as was worried was gonna get told of like a little kid. During school it was hard to get any body to return a call and they would set my daughter with a instructor that did not have much time. So I gave up and right before school was out I called again, and got set up with Mike Vanoundenhaegen so I called him and right from the start I liked this guy. Made all my appointments at that time. My daughter came and drove from the coast each time and she did already have a license I just thought she needed some city driving. Mike was so good with her. This is the best place that anybody can learn how to drive. Parents should enroll their kids in this school not only for the driving practice, but for the general knowledge and the driver's attitude behind the wheel taught here. Horrible customer service!! We needed to reschedule our son's last drive time due to a baseball tournament. We sent 3 emails and our son approached the teacher (Lori) several times. She stated "I'll check my emails and get back to you". Weeks passed and I finally reached Lori by phone. She was incredibly rude, took no responsibility for the poor communication, and was completely dismissive of the entire issue. I was shocked by the complete lack of customer service We do not recommend this driving academy and wish we had gone elsewhere. read more
