Ok parents read up. While DMV drive test is $45, Pacific will charge you $85 (2025) for your…read moreconvenience. It is convenience and sounds smart to expense to avoid DMV. Make sure you can't be sick and reschedule. Your urgency is their business. Anyway if you are ok with their price and if you pass the test, it's worth it. Otherwise let's talk money, you pay $85 again. Your luck, their call. Tips- the girl at the counter is very nice and friendly. When you pay to schedule, ask her for test evaluation sheet so you have a clue what your kid will be doing. They will not offer that info automatically (almost like because they kinda want you to fail and pay another $85 to reschedule). I asked so she kindly explained the rule that you can fail "minors" up to 8 points and still pass. But "major" faults is a 1 time thing-- such as red light, stop sign violations, or anything that makes the examiner step on brake (yes they have brake on passenger side!) it will cause you exit the test right away. Another thing you should know, unlike at DMV you do not get to drive your car that you are familiar with. They only have Kia and it's gas. If you are used to EV pedals make sure you borrow grandpa's gas car for a day. I minus one star for just that. On the day you might have 2 examiners, one new and one supervisor in the back. The exam is quick like 20 minutes around town. Mostly about intersections, change lanes, using signals. No highway (disappointed). No parallel parking (very disappointed). Please please teach your kids to be proficient in parking for their own sake. After all it's NOT hard to pass. If your kid has been driving with you daily for at least a year, you shouldn't be worried at all. $85 is good investment and worth not to deal with DMV attitudes.

Their reviews have nothing to do with the actual drive test, so below is my FULL experience with SODE in Hillsboro) I can't say enough about how great my experience with SODE in Hillsboro was. I took my driver's test on 05-21-2026 with examiner Liz Harris, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND choosing Ms. Harris as your examiner as well. First, I was able to schedule an appointment with them online immediately. I decided I wanted to take my test as soon as possible, and started looking for open spots on 05-20-2026 fairly late in the evening. I was able to schedule my test for the very next day!! And they had multiple spots open to choose from. The business was easy to find, clean, and very professionally setup. They have nice, clean, easy to drive company cars that you can use if you do not want to use your own vehicle, and that's what I chose to do. But, they make the process of using your own vehicle very easy as well, so long as it has good tags, insurance, and passes the inspection (blinkers, break lights, horn, clear windshield) nothing too crazy, just the standard stuff and you're good to go. I used one of their cars, and it was a great make and model for a drive test, large clear windows, no huge blind-spots, just a very smooth, comfortable ride. Liz Harris was my examiner and she was great at helping me to calm my nerves!! She was very professional, very specific and clear with her instructions, and made everything go quite smoothly. She didn't try to trick me or surprise me with unexpected instructions. She conducted herself like a true professional and didn't have crazy high expectations, nor did she make things too easy. It was a matter-of-fact, straightforward, professional experience. Basically, if you're prepared for your test and have done the work to know what you're doing on the road, there's no reason why you shouldn't pass!! Again, Liz Harris is highly recommended!!

1 Star -- Very Disappointing Experience…read more I would strongly recommend choosing a different examiner than Liz at Southern Oregon Driver Education in Tanasbourne. My son took his driving test with Liz twice, and both experiences were extremely frustrating. During the test, her instructions were often confusing and, when my son asked for clarification, she simply repeated the same instruction rather than clarifying what she wanted him to do. Her communication came across as passive-aggressive and made an already stressful situation even more difficult for a new driver. What concerns me even more is that four of my son's friends also tested with Liz and all four failed their tests as well. I obviously cannot speak to exactly why each person failed, but having this many students in the same friend group have the same experience raised serious concerns for us about the consistency and fairness of the testing. After failing twice with Liz, my son went to a different third-party testing company the following week and passed his driving test with a 98%. This was particularly frustrating because Liz had underlined "DANGEROUS DRIVER" on his previous test paperwork. A 98% passing score at another testing location shortly afterward makes that assessment difficult for us to understand. I am not saying that every student who fails a driving test was tested unfairly. However, based on our experience, the communication during the test, the experiences of several other students we know, and the dramatically different result he received from another examiner, I have serious concerns about this testing experience. If you are choosing a third-party examiner, I would recommend going somewhere else rather than risking another $70 test fee after being failed by Liz.

The place felt very sketchy, hand written sign, one employee. The lady was very odd. She just had the strangest demeanor, kind of brusque but also expecting us to know things we didn't know even about the sign in procedure. She failed my daughter on turning right with traffic coming too close. She slammed on the brakes when the approaching traffic was nearly a block away and going at residential speeds. She also pointed out stop signs like my daughter hadn't seen them, again when they were almost a block away. She also said my daughter didn't look behind her when she backed out, which she very clearly did. It almost feels like a scam, they get paid by the test, so having a high fail rate is good for profit. She expected my daughter to drive like a grandma with bad eyesight maybe? Seeing the intense reviews I feel bad as a parent I just jumped at the first appointment that looked close and didn't research the company first.

I had a great experience learning manual transmission driving for three hours. The instructor was…read moreNicole and she was patient. We started off with an overall note of the mechanics involved and important safety features. This involved how to turn the car on and how to park the car securely. She thej demonstrated with a ride around. We got back and then it was my turn to practice. I was able to reverse and learned how to get out move in first gear and transition to second gear. Practiced this until I was comfortable. After that she also demonstrated how to go about higher gears and also how to go up hills. Overall time flew, thanks Nicole! I'll be buying a manual transmission auto soon, I'll update with pics soon hopefully. =)
