Woodburn location has a trend to put drivers in a difficult situation at the end of the test if everything has been done well before then fail them. Good business for them at $75 a test and if you take their driving course after failing, even better. read more

However, the overall experience with this school was frustrating and poorly handled. First, it is extremely difficult to schedule driving sessions with this school. Getting drives scheduled was unnecessarily complicated and took a lot of back and forth. Another major issue was their record keeping. After one of my son's drives, the instructor accidentally put another student's results on my son's account, showing that he had passed when he actually had not. That is a serious mistake and felt very unprofessional. On his final drive he did pass with a 90%, and the instructor that day was very nice. However, he was never given a certificate or any documentation. The next day I logged into his account and it showed he passed. I called the school to ask what we needed to take him to the DMV and was told we would receive an email and could go to the DMV in three to five days. Eight days later we had still received no email, no certificate, and nothing in the mail, but other parents said the DMV should already have the information, so we went anyway. When we got to the DMV, they had no record at all that my son had completed driver's education. The DMV told me to call the school. When I called, they had to look up his account and gave me a "confirmation number," saying that should work. The DMV told me they cannot use confirmation numbers and the completion was still not in their system. The DMV staff then had to call the school themselves. After several minutes of the DMV speaking with them, the school finally sent the completion information over correctly so my son could proceed. We paid almost $700 for this program, and the amount of confusion, poor communication, and runaround we experienced was unacceptable. I have another child who will need driver's education soon, and after this experience, we will absolutely not be using this school again. Their system is bad, I'm still trying to get my drive six and I've called and emailed them and I had to keep pushing them and it took like 4 months to even get my drive five and I would quit but I can't and I'm falling behind and can't even drive I hope they get shut down because they are absolutely terrible at their job read more

I would give less Stars if I could.Try customer service. Sierra, the manager, could not resolve our issues. This drivers Ed program had no tech support when my child logged in the first time. It took a lot of effort to get the appropriate tech support. They are terrible at communication. As a result my child missed one class due to their negligence. All our money, all her COMPLETED CLASSROOM TIME AND DRIVES are up in smoke. Sierra's response??? "Well yes we really screwed up in the beginning(where this whole issue started), sorry about your bad luck". Sierra ended the call "willing" to accept 50% of the blame. Her words not mine. Took my drivers test here by appointment online. Has to wait a little while, not great for the nerves, but the guy I got for the test was kind and understanding. He gave clear instructions without any confusing and was a good passenger in the test car. Not great. I feel like they fail you for one warning. And just want you to have to book another appointment and pay the fee again. Feels like a bit of a scam. That is unless you pay for their classes, then maybe you get to pass. Looking for other options for my child. Because his driving is superb and this made no sense to us twice. During my driving test, I was assigned to an instructor named Stacy. However, at the start of the test, Stacy expressed her displeasure of having to do this job all day, every day. This was my second time testing with Stacy as I was not allowed to request a different instructor. To my surprise, Stacy instructed me to make a turn that would leave me stuck in traffic, which would result in an automatic fail. When I addressed my concerns, she dismissed me and continued to fail me during the test. During the test, I asked Stacy if there were any cameras in the car, as we both had different opinions. However, Stacy assured me that there were no cameras in the car. At this point, I couldn't help but think that this was just a way for the Oregon Driver Education Center to make money by having students retake their tests multiple times. 10 out 10 do not recommend! read more

Extremely frustrated with ODEC's teen driver program. The instructors are good but their drive scheduling is terrible. We did the summer program and are still trying to get the last 2 drives scheduled. I just called and they said that it could take up to December to get these last drives in. While this may be in the contract, its a terrible way to run this. Your kid will have drives up to and more than a month apart which is not a great way to learn and you will have to constantly refresh their website to try and snag new drives or wait for the last minute cancellations which make it impossible to plan. We did 1st learn to drive with our older son and the process was much smoother. I am regretting that I went with ODEC this time around. read more

My girlfriend went there to take her driving test and according to the Oregon drivers manual she didn't do anything wrong but was failed anyway. She came up to an intersection and the light was red and she was turning right and came to a complete stop and proceeded with caution and Jessica failed her. Now we find out that if you didn't take classes there they fail you. The state came up with this third party testing and the people at ODEC saw it as an opportunity to rip people off insteaf of doing it legitimately. Now she has to find a honest place to take her test. If you have taken classes there then fine but if you did not then you're better off just skipping that place and use the money to take the test at a legitimate testing place. read more

I had my driving test and an inspector named Chris. I found him to be very polite and professional, and I was very much at ease during my test. Chris provided clear and precise instructions during the test and gave ample warning of when and where to turn. Moreover, taking the driving test with ODEC was very convenient. I do not have the luxury of waiting hours in line at a regular DMV field office, so being able to take the test on a Sunday was a major convenience to me. Oh, and one last thing, if you need to be tested but do not own your own vehicle, ODEC will provide the vehicle for you. All in all, testing with ODEC was a great experience. read more

I took my test at the Beaverton location and had a great experience! The driving test itself took about 15 minutes, and Jessica, my instructor was clear about what I could expect and offered good feedback at the end. My only critique would be a suggestion to offer people taking the test more information after they have passed regarding how to go about getting your license from the DMV. Which requires you to wait about 24hrs for you instructor to put your score in the system, after that you need to go into the DVM to get it issued. You don't need anything other than your current permit, they take a new picture, and mail you your license (and print a temp paper one for you). read more

As others have said, these people will take your money and then offer you their services again if you pay more. My son took driving test here and got failed due to instructor claiming that he did not yield to vehicle in right turning lane when it was his turn to left. We asked about cameras to see the drive and apparently they don't record the drive. Beaverton location for new driver. Avoid this company, please note that this course may not get you a big savings if using PEMCO insurance, give them a ring to confirm! Note the reviews about difficulty in getting drives scheduled; there is no marshaled process for oldest date enrolled to be first to schedule a drive. We were told covid is affecting this; however, I see reviews in 2018 stating the same issue. Early summer we were told we were competing for drives with covid backups that were given priority; this morning we were told drive scheduling is first come first served..... So which one is it odec? This morning my wife was told by odec we have to finish the drives prior to my son testing at DMV or we would be fined $200. We could pay odec $60 to get around this.....huh!? Oh, and by the way, you have to complete in 6 months..... How does that work if I can't finish my drives because of your scheduling incompetence. There's a fundamental business problem if you can't schedule a few months out during enrollment, if the dentist, contractor, vacationer, sports team, swimming pool, etc. can, why can't you for crying out loud!I Terribe, avoid, may not save you money. read more

As of May 2023 the program cost is $600 per student. The coursework and in car training are adequate, but my no means excellent. HOWEVER the real issue comes with their scheduling of in car drives. Each student is required to get 6 drives and their system is that you just have to get on and check over and over and over again to find your drives---and they simply aren't available. This is the second child I've sent through this program and this issue has been EXTREMELY frustrating with both of them. I chose to give them grace after the first experience because of Covid and everyone was having a hard time doing anything. That's not actually the problem here--they over promised to their customers. If you're in Salem I would strongly advise trying to get into the Chemeketa program first. read more

We have gone to the Beaverton office and it has been a very negative experience, if I could give it zero stars I would. First The classroom instructor my student has is very grumpy and seems to want to share their trauma about loosing their child in a car accident as a means to scare students instead of giving them positive instruction. It has had a very negative effect on my student and really seems to be poor teaching. The in car instructor my student had was not much better. Secondly, scheduling in car drive times is next to impossible. They claim they will get 6 drive times scheduled but nothing is ever available. They release times only 5-7 days in advance and unless you are on the scheduling site while they are being released they are gone within minutes. They will go weeks at a time without offering any available times. Lastly, I have had several interactions with their office staff over the scheduling issues and they have been rude, condescending, and very unhelpful. The Company sold themselves well but it has been nothing like it was advertised. read more

Don't bother with this place. They don't have the staff to conduct all the required in-car driving. We enrolled our kid 3 months ago and have only been able to schedule 1 (of 3 required) drives. The office will tell you to check regularly, but there hasn't been any open slots for at least two months. So. We paid them $525 and we are basically out that money. read more

Today, I went to the Beaverton location for my drive test. I'm 25, been driving since I was 15. I got Kris, which made me super nervous since I saw negative reviews about him. He was so kind and laid back! He was very professional while also making me feel way more at ease, which helped me pass! I have terrible test anxiety, which is the reason I have waited so long to get my license in the first place, but he made the test easy breezy! If you're failing, you're failing for good reason. It's their job to make sure they are giving licenses to SAFE drivers who know what they're doing behind the wheel. The route was easy, not too busy, and very straight forward! read more

Hello, I scheduled  a physical divers test for my son on Sept  7th at 7 am. We live in klamath falls oregon of which no place has a physical driver test provided so we have to travel to medford oregon to get my son a license.  There is a confirmation email,  your website, and automated phone call stating that if your instructor can not find you they will call 10 mins prior to your scheduled time.. that did not happen.  We do NOT know medford in any way and we got slightly lost but showed up to the building at 6:52am. We called the building repeatedly at the number 1-503-581-3783  to make sure we had the correct place because in the GPS system at 6:46am only got a automated response of hours..  no one was at the building even though it was not 7am nor 8 mins prior to 7am. No phone call from anyone no attempt of a person nothing until almost 9am then a guy named Bob walked out the side door and absolutely REFUSED to answer any questions or help us we sat there for 2 hours!!! I am requesting  a refund of my money. I spoke to Stasia today and explained what had happened she put me on hold and spoke to  Lisa a supervisor which refused a refund. I get your company may have a tight schedule but due to covid and having all these closures n regulations.  But that does not give people the right to be extremely unprofessional  and rude. That  does not make people inhuman.  Covid has taken a impact on everyone. You may provide a address and a time to be at but YOUR driver BOB  was not there and was very rude when we did see him. That is not my fault u have no phone contacts for your instructor's in case someone who doesn't live there or work for your company have a issues finding it. Your company needs communication. I want a refund for my $60 because me and my son were there at 6:52 am sept 7th 2020 and no one was at that facility and no phone to be able to even contact someone. I'm a 62 y/o Driver/CDL certified. I paid to get an honest drive test. Non of the test was routine driving. ALL RESIDENTIAL, UNMARKED , AND DANGEROUS!! Signalling to soon to turn??? Going over speed bumps to slow. Not looking over my shoulder to switch lanes??? First I didn't have to switch lanes??? And according to DMVO/ODOT " signal at LEAST one hundred feet ahead. Then in the middle of the test, we where at a stop sign and it looked like he fell asleep??? He asked if I was waiting for him to give me instructions. YES!!!! THEN INTO A BLIND INTERSECTION, TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. A HUMMER CAME FLYING OVER THE HILL AND TURNED IN FRONT OF ME!!! HE FAILED ME FOR THIS!!! THE UPSELL FOR LESSONS. CRAIG HAS NO INTEGRITY!!! It didn't take 40 mins. 20 tops!! He failed the driver ahead of me. Just go to DMV. They are professionals and have more experience. The wait times aren't that far out!!! Just schedule and go. We had a horrible experience with the Beaverton location. It was clear from the moment we walked in they were annoyed they had to help us. The person giving the test demonstrated no patience. They were playing a game on their phone with ear pods in during the test and then would give an instruction without advance notice and then said we failed the test. It felt clear they had no incentive for you to pass the test knowing you would just have to pay to take it again. I would avoid this business completely! read more

Absolutely horrible experience at the Salem branch. They failed my daughter instantly for asking about the car that she was given. It was very very different from her own car and she asked how to put it in drive. The teacher Jessica also kept rolling her eyes at her. Very very unprofessional company. ODEC provided excellent driving instruction for my twin daughters. We started the course in January 2019 at the Beaverton location. The orientation did not go into details of the course curriculum, which confused us. In retrospect, the orientation was to emphasize that driving is a critical skill which parents need to be involved in teaching, and gave us a framework for that. 50 hours of parent supervised driving is still required in addition to the course, and the orientation made those hours much less painful and better structured. The classroom portion consists of ten weekly three hour sessions that cover traffic laws but also put heavy emphasis on traffic safety and strategy - what to do if someone is following too close, why it's important not to be distracted, what to do if you suddenly lose control of your car or get into an accident. The textbook was interesting and included topics that most adult drivers were not taught. They also taught terms like charging, hill crest, vehicle balance and pivoting, so that parents can be more specific during drives than "Hey! Watch out!" The six driving sessions start about a month after the course begins, so that drivers have a context for learning. My girls drove with at least six of the instructors and they were all very caring, engaged and truly wanted to instill safety and confidence in new drivers. Adam, Christian, John and Rosie were favorites. The drives increase in complexity up to freeways and hilly Council Crest. Skills like backing in to a parking space, parallel parking and three point turns are taught. Good safety habits are emphasized - "We do nothing that is not safe!" Half the session is spent observing. My girls observed a student who failed his final drive test for making a turn that could have caused a collision. The instructor waited until the very last minute until using the brakes in order to give him a chance to correct himself. It was a fair test and good learning for all. The instructors gave helpful pointers, frank advice and no tricks were involved. Regarding scheduling, from the start we had a sports event and family event conflict with two of the classroom sessions and were easily able to schedule a session swap online. We received email reminders and printed out an email to bring to the different session for the instructor to sign so that credit was still received. The drives were scheduled online months in advance with two weeks between drives. They were released in large groups with many options on weeknights and weekends. We had NO problems scheduling the drives online. On one occasion we had to cancel last minute and paid a small fee, which is a reasonable way to ensure that students don't take all the drives without showing up. When I had questions about scheduling drives, I called and Erin would pick up and help me on the spot or called back right away. As the end of the course neared, we received calls to inquire about any help needed scheduling our drives. We completed all drives about a month after the course was complete. One week after completing (and passing!) the final drive, we received the official ODOT certification cards to waive the driving portion of the DMV license test. We researched many different drivers education options and this was the ONLY school that allowed enough flexibility for twin high school students to complete the course while playing two seasons of sports. We're so grateful for ODEC and have recommended this program to friends. read more
