Do these guys really meet the highest standard set by the state like they stated in their bio or the bare minimum? Well let me answer that for you. I have been driving for four years with no accidents and no tickets. I came in to take my test and the instructor said it would be no longer than 15 minutes. I thought okay cool even better. We hop onto the road and I am feeling really confident given that I have so much experience on the road. I make full stops, check my blind spots, my turn signal is on 100+ ft prior to my turn, went 20 in school zone, merged with no problems. When I go back to park the car after, the instructor said "let me do some math" and starts knocking off a ton of stuff like I was still driving. That already made me mad because why wasn't it done during the test? Now you just look like a scammer trying to look for a fast cash grab (spoiler: I was right). I so vividly remember him only writing on the paper three times while I was driving. All the sudden the paper looks like a scratch sheet during a math test with all this mumbo jumbo written on it and a bunch of scribbles on the road map. I still felt confident that I passed and then I look at my score and I miss the passing grade by 1 point. Are we being serious right now? Coincidence..? I THINK NOT! The instructor began to explain what I missed. No blindspot checking for my 2nd merge (wrong - I remember quite literally making a whole turn of the body just so he acknowledges my blindspot check + I only merged once within our short 10 minute drive), the car was in the cross walk (I made full stops at the line before creeping up to check oncoming traffic), and my turn signal was late (I am a late turn signals biggest hater - I know first hand to turn it on 100 feet before turning). It literally felt like he was just searching for anything to mark me down for and I know exactly why. They want you to keep paying. You basically pay to pass at this business. When he had offered me to schedule another test, I went in and they asked that I pay ANOTHER $75. I said yeah no cancel that appointment and lose my number. When I hopped into my car, I looked these guys up on Yelp and felt like I walked the prank for not checking here first before booking. They even gave me a sheet to rate them and turn into the DMV. Best believe the DMV is going to be taking these guys off their approved third party test proctors after my survey gets turned in. Save your money and go somewhere else AND let them know you are onto the scams that these kinds of companies run. I've been driving for years and knew I only made one mistake during the test but when it was over was accused of many many mistakes that where never made it felt like it was just a money racket. You could tell the women instructor that gave me the test was just a hard ass and didn't seem like she wanted to deal with anyone that day and I feel like I didn't past for unfair and unreasonable claims I've drove for years and ice always been a good driver the whole experience blew me away. read more

A full scam not even hiding it! I went in for my test and the instructor and secretary made a very off color joke about my instructor being "the hardest instructor" and she even retorted " I've never passed anyone" not even a few minutes before my test, immediately putting me on the defensive and nervousness. She then proceeded to take me through what seemed to be a route catered to fail almost any driver. I got docked for pulling to close to the cross section when they made me go to streets with blind corners that you needed to pull forward to see oncoming traffic. Docked me for not hitting 45 in the stretch of road that we were on for not even 10 seconds before changing lanes and then turning onto a street that was a 20mph school zone. In the end DO NOT go here they will rip you off and I'll be reporting them to the DMV since I was directed to them from the DMV website. read more

This place is running a scam business. The only good thing about it is the driving lessons, and the instructor is very nice; he teaches you well to help you pass. However, the people in the office will scam you, so please stay away. I took the driving test three times, and they tricked me into thinking they were helping. What a scam! I scheduled an appointment for my child well before their birthday. Paid up front. Knew about cancelation policy. Found an appointment at local dmv. Canceled other appt. Be warned if NW Drivers Ed. I've driven for 15 years and needed to renew and failed the test for going 26 in a 25, and not turning my head enough even when I did. If that's how they want to test people, that sucks, but they're a private company and can do what they want. That's not where I have my major issue. My major issue was when I came to start for my test, my instructor was arguing with the staff saying I'm not capable of taking a test right now because of paper work. It got to the point where they had to come outside and say "let him drive." For someone who argued with me about such strict rules, he should know them himself. But I think he wanted to fail me before I even got in the car - On our way to the vehicle the instructor saw my ID from New York City and knows I moved to Portland, and he told me he doesn't like where I'm from, and doesn't agree with our politics. I should not walk away from a drivers test knowing my instructors political affiliations (which I'll let you figure out yourself). I'm a young Hispanic man from liberal cities and that seemed to upset him. His name is Glenn so watch out for his "instruction." Wildly unprofessional, and honestly pathetic to see him use his authority in any way possible. Almost seemed like he enjoyed failing a student, which he probably did to boost his ego, and I hope he can get past those insecurities. Not to mention that during COVID. While he did wear a mask during the test, it was not around his nose and loosely around his face - obviously something he met minimum qualifications for for work. With the pandemic, I now have to wait another 4 months to take a test again due to scheduling in the state. Disgusting - would recommend to no one. Beware. read more

Stay Away. You'll get ripped off. This Driving school takes your money and doesn't follow through with actually getting teens their licenses. It's been 5 weeks since my kids completed their class, passed both the written test and the driving test with flying colors and they keep saying that they're waiting for DMV to send the completion certificates that will allow them to get their licenses. I've talked to multiple people at DMV and ODOT. NW Drivers Ed has multiple complaints against them, and has possible LOST the paperwork that they're supposed to submit for their students from TWO classes to get their licenses. Now I either need to pay $75-100 each for my kids to take another drive test from a *different* third party, or go all the way to Bend, from Salem, which is the closest place that is taking Drive test appts right now, during COVID. read more

Met with instructor who was right on time and completed test in a comfortable manner. Price was affordable especially given the convenience. ive been driving for almost 30 years and this driving test they offer here is amazingly hard and extremely strictly graded. I think i would have to take it 3 or 4 times to pass even though i am an excellent driver and have never been in an accident. Corvalis has a collective speed limit of about 5 mph so you have to crawl through the test. A mouse farting on the pedal will get you a mark for speeding. Apparently you have to swivel your head around 360 degrees to "check you blind spots" on any sort of manueuver you do. the cars they have are completely sealed in with plastic because of covid so the visibility is extremely poor as well. I would like to see some statistics on the pass rate at this place - its got to be near the state low... read more

Make sure you REALLY exaggerate your head and eye movements, I would suggest not wearing sunglasses. The instructor was nice enough but didn't pay much attention to where I was looking and failed me for not turning my head whenever I turned right (as if I've been driving a decade and only look left when on the road. No, I just knew you were sitting on my right side and didn't make a point to exaggerate my movements). They have their policies and that's their prerogative, but it's a good warning for those taking the test. I'm curious how many people pass on their first attempt and how many are asked to 'come back in seven days pay the full $60 fee and retest again'. Much faster than the DMV even if you have to take it twice, but as a newlywed who just moved to the area I can't afford to play that game. Don't imagine most college students can either. read more

Yeni was a great instructor and made the process clear...Had no problems setting up an appointment and following through. Driving test instructions were clear. Results were sent over to the DMV in a timely fashion Pleasantly surprised. Negative reviews look like they probably come from bad drivers who didn't pass the straightforward test. read more

Our son attended (and passed!) his drivers license test, based on instruction from NW Drivers Ed. A nice feature is being able to take the actual test at the end of class sessions, rather than having to go to the DMV. Training was thorough and we feel good about what our son learned. We even ran into an unusual situation, where our son's driving partner (student) quit coming to class at the very end. Instructor Andrew made an effort to resolve, and then accommodated our son by allowing him to come in on a Sunday afternoon and take his final driving test. Based on the way we were treated, plus the training provided, we have no problem giving this business a five-star rating. read more
