Very condescending. Not worth the money, and don't promote a growth mindset. Find somewhere else.

I would give the Oregon Drivers Education Center one star--zero if that were possible…read more The actual driving instruction was okay and they did teach my son how to drive. However, the overall experience with this school was frustrating and poorly handled. First, it is extremely difficult to schedule driving sessions with this school. Getting drives scheduled was unnecessarily complicated and took a lot of back and forth. Another major issue was their record keeping. After one of my son's drives, the instructor accidentally put another student's results on my son's account, showing that he had passed when he actually had not. That is a serious mistake and felt very unprofessional. On his final drive he did pass with a 90%, and the instructor that day was very nice. However, he was never given a certificate or any documentation. The next day I logged into his account and it showed he passed. I called the school to ask what we needed to take him to the DMV and was told we would receive an email and could go to the DMV in three to five days. Eight days later we had still received no email, no certificate, and nothing in the mail, but other parents said the DMV should already have the information, so we went anyway. When we got to the DMV, they had no record at all that my son had completed driver's education. The DMV told me to call the school. When I called, they had to look up his account and gave me a "confirmation number," saying that should work. The DMV told me they cannot use confirmation numbers and the completion was still not in their system. The DMV staff then had to call the school themselves. After several minutes of the DMV speaking with them, the school finally sent the completion information over correctly so my son could proceed. We paid almost $700 for this program, and the amount of confusion, poor communication, and runaround we experienced was unacceptable. I have another child who will need driver's education soon, and after this experience, we will absolutely not be using this school again. Head teacher Shanti, her husband and one of their sons, along with another teacher who was a former parent at the school herself. The kids truly learn.....academics, nature, compassion, character...... It's a wonderful option to have your kids be able to stay enrolled during their "kindergarten" year so as to have a true "full day" kindergarten rather than the typical half-day. Our son has thrived there the past two years and never complains of being "bored" as he used to do. He's learned to read and write and count and more. Once a week they have Japanese culture and language lessons and they grow to love their Japanese teacher. Several times a year they put on programs where all the students sing and dance, learning various cultures, languages, and styles along the way. The interaction of this school and our own efforts have been completely in sync and we will be sad to leave them but are truly grateful for the solid foundation they have helped give our child.

They have two wonderful teachers and other teacher's aides that help run this amazing Montessori school. They focus on letting the child explore their interests and encourage them in their learning. Your child can start here as early as 2.5 years old if they are 90% potty trained (very few accidents. The cost of this school is less than some other Montessori schools around and the quality of learning and teaching is awesome. My daughter has absorbed so much in the few months she has been there. They offer half day or full day preschool and kindergarten, plus before and after care at a very minimal fee! They do field trips twice a year, and do a craft and show and tell on Fridays. I can't begin to truly express how great this place is!
