I think what Abiqua gets right is the balance between a rigorous academic program and a holistic approach to understanding and nurturing the whole child. Whether your child is on the gifted end of the spectrum, somewhere in the middle, or needing additional support - the teachers have proven time and again they will "meet your child where he or she is at." It's not just lip service - we have lived this. We have considered moving out of the Salem area several times and two factors keep us here, one of which is the extraordinary education our children are receiving at Abiqua. Kim and her staff take a vested interest in our child and truly support him. The owner, Kim, is very involved and absolutely supports our child. She took time out of her busy schedule to drive to our community outside Salem and advocate for our son at his IEP meeting. I'm very impressed with the services we have received. Our child ID progressing slower than normal. It isn't for a lack of effort and support. If you are a struggling parent you you believe your kid isn't receiving the education they deserve from public schools. Please know this is a valuable resource. I attribute the majority of his recent success to this program. It isn't a fast process, but it's a reasonable option over watching your child drown in a stagnant education system.
