I was in a photo enforcement class. The class was fine. However, the customer service was extremely poor. This business has an exclusive contract with the city to offer these courses. There were upwards of 80 people in my class. That's $10,000 in user fees for one class and you can't hire anyone to answer the business phone during business hours? ok. So, my calls were not answered, and my voicemail was not returned. This set a rude and unresponsive tone, and I felt shoved into their preferred mode of correspondence with zero choice. I drove 51 miles per hour; I didn't kill anyone! Every touchpoint with this company has been menacing and judgmental. Is that the culture that you're going for? Literally out to lunch - never answered the phone, even today! Poor follow through - did not return my voicemail. Finally, their notifications were incomplete. The email that I was supposed to receive 2 days prior with a link to register, did not include the link. Since you can only interact with them by their preferred method of communication, I emailed and had the misfortune of dealing with two people who have absolutely no commitment to let alone apparently any training in deescalation. I finally got the information that I needed. However, over the course of the correspondence I was judged, not heard, dismissed, sassed back, and ultimately threatened with retaliation. That's right this "customer service professional" took the time to get the last word and directly threaten me with retaliation. What assurance do I have that this person won't pursue further retaliation by losing my paperwork or "forgetting" to file it on time? read more

Ok parents read up. While DMV drive test is $45, Pacific will charge you $85 (2025) for your convenience. It is convenience and sounds smart to expense to avoid DMV. Make sure you can't be sick and reschedule. Your urgency is their business. Anyway if you are ok with their price and if you pass the test, it's worth it. Otherwise let's talk money, you pay $85 again. Your luck, their call. Tips- the girl at the counter is very nice and friendly. When you pay to schedule, ask her for test evaluation sheet so you have a clue what your kid will be doing. They will not offer that info automatically (almost like because they kinda want you to fail and pay another $85 to reschedule). I asked so she kindly explained the rule that you can fail "minors" up to 8 points and still pass. But "major" faults is a 1 time thing-- such as red light, stop sign violations, or anything that makes the examiner step on brake (yes they have brake on passenger side!) it will cause you exit the test right away. Another thing you should know, unlike at DMV you do not get to drive your car that you are familiar with. They only have Kia and it's gas. If you are used to EV pedals make sure you borrow grandpa's gas car for a day. I minus one star for just that. On the day you might have 2 examiners, one new and one supervisor in the back. The exam is quick like 20 minutes around town. Mostly about intersections, change lanes, using signals. No highway (disappointed). No parallel parking (very disappointed). Please please teach your kids to be proficient in parking for their own sake. After all it's NOT hard to pass. If your kid has been driving with you daily for at least a year, you shouldn't be worried at all. $85 is good investment and worth not to deal with DMV attitudes. read more

I took my test this morning at 9:30. I came in and immediately was greeted by a very nice lady at the front desk who told me to fill out paperwork and read a slip of paper before my test explaining the process. They are very clear and adamant about arriving 15 minutes early. Instructions on the website and when you book are very clear about what is required. I arrive 15 minutes early and I got a table waiting for my test to start. My examiner was Steve Buckley. He was amazing and so easy to talk to. He put me at ease completely. I was really nervous and he made it so much easier to take my test. He was calm and friendly and the car I took the test in was nice to drive. The route was local and the weather was not ideal as it was sprinkling, and the roads were wet and had lots of leaves on the ground, but I still passed my test and he congratulated me and I was on my way. I have had my drivers license for a few years, but haven't had much opportunity to drive since moving to large cities with accessible public transportation systems. Since relocating to the suburbs, I wanted to build confidence in driving again through proper lessons. If you are looking for a great adult driver's program, I highly recommend Pacific Driver Education. The lessons are 90-minutes long. Skip was an amazing instructor who was patient and and calm. My son had his first driving test here. He had misfortune of some asshole driving over the speed limit and had him failed due to insufficient clearance from the street parking when he was trying to turn into the incoming lane. Instructor did point out that he should have cleared the lane before turning. However parking lot and street in front are always full of parked vehicles and people driving over the speed limit in incoming lane! This makes turning very dangerous (even for experienced drivers). While it's legal to test new drivers on such dangerous street it sucks that people drive over the speed limit and can cause accidents and fail the exam because of this alone. Overall I found instructor to be knowledgeable and explained the situation well. However not happy with testing venue at all due to above situation with parking lot and street next to it. read more

The situation is that Oregon DMV has hardly any drive test appointments available. I'm looking at a screen with NO APPOINTMENTS within a 250 mile radius of Portland! For people who need to get a Drivers License in a reasonable timeframe, this literally forces them to go to private companies such as Pacific Driver Education. There is an inherent conflict of interest for these companies. Failing a test leads to more business - through learning lessons and retest. Passing a test means no more business. Had an experience with 2 drive tests, which reinforces the conflict of interest. Both tests failed and $160 spent. The first test was abruptly stopped in 5 minutes (despite paying for a 30 minute test) because the driver inched into the intersection to turn left while a pedestrian had not fully crossed the intersection. A little harsh IMHO, but some more testing would have been good to help the driver learn some more. The second test was failed for being too cautious. I asked if there were any major errors. The answer was NO. The driver was slow and hesitant but always safe. There was no final score, no indication of how many points were lost where. I understand that a driver can lose upto 24 points out of 100 and still pass. This instructor also told the driver that it is ok to drive "5 over the speed limit" while online documentation discourages going over the speed limit. Isn't it normal for a new driver to be cautious??? It was not fair to fail a driver for being "too" cautious. This just goes to reinforce the feeling that the conflict of interest actually played out. People are caught between a DMV with no appointments and businesses that have a vested interest in making money. :-( read more

We registered for my wife to take lessons here. The follow up was horrible. They gave her access to online courses then took them away stating that those were not paid for. We did not receive any communication for when driving lessons were to be scheduled. We waited 10 days....when we did call we were told she'd receive an email within the hour. She did not. When I called again to inquire the person who answered could not help with anything at all. Not scheduling. Not cancelling. Nothing. She could only create a task for someone to call me on Monday to cancel. Update: In response to the owners comment. We did NOT receive any emails asking for a schedule. In fact we only received TWO emails. One confirming purchase and one for online log in. THERE WAS NEVER ANY EMAIL RECEIVED directly or in the SPAM files requesting a scheduling. There was never a second email for scheduling a time for lessons. 3/21 update: Still insisting that we received emails that my wife never received and are only issuing a refund minus a banking fee. 3/24 update: A full refund was given. read more

Our two teens took the Driver Essentials Plus program. Throughout the process, Lauren provided thorough info over the phone and in the office. The online education was a little bumpy with access but resolved with one phone call. One of our teens had some severe anxiety and the degree of patience and flexibility the company offered as far as discussing and scheduling the frequency of driving lessons and when to schedule his test, was exceptional! Piss ass place do not recommend at all probably the least helpful place in terms of scheduling, you are required to let them know if you're going to be able to make your appt on time or not 2 days prior which isn't appeasing or realistic (getting stuck in traffic or at work). If you don't make it to your appointment 15 minutes prior and don't let them know 48 hours in advance you have to pay another $80-$100 to take the test that you didn't get to take the first time. In conclusion even if this was the standard practice at every other place their still charging pretty high for mediocre service have had a few tests here instructors are very much going to fail you or your kid as many times as they can and recommend paying for classes while doing it read more

Drive instructor yelled at me throughout the test, super unprofessional. He claimed that I had time to warmup since it was a company car I had never driven, but refused to let me know when this warmup period ended and the exam began. Rather than letting me know I was driving too slow he would just yell "go!!!!!!!!". I don't think a drive test instructor is even supposed to talk to you, let alone yell. There was a stopped school bus with kids boarding and within two seconds of the lights stopping flashing he would just yell "Go!!!". How am I supposed to focus on my test with a man yelling at me about my driving speed? Also, halfway through the test he decided to instruct me to turn off the heated steering wheel. This is a company car, that I had never driven in, and now I have to find a steering wheel heat button WHILE trying to pass a drive test? Other instructors seemed possibly nicer, but if you see an older man just go home and save yourself the $80. read more
