The director was beyond kind as I explained I was a first time parent. She explained to me the ins-n-out of their infant classroom (6wks-1 yr) and even took the time to show me the toddler room (1-2yr), 2's, pre-school room (3yrs) and grade school rooms. I was very impressed how detailed everything was. I was also informed that there was a waiting list and she even encouraged me to tour other facilities to compare my experiences. After looking at 4 other day care centers near our home, I knew this one was it. What stood out mostly about this KinderCare was they never once asked me about money. They focused on our daughter's needs, our work schedule, and how they could accommodate. The kids that attended here seemed happier than other places I've visited. The class rooms are slightly bigger than other places I looked at (and it didn't feel like they were packed-in). Because my Daughter is just a few weeks shy of being 1, we were encouraged to visit again to see how she would do with toddlers in addition to getting to know the teachers and kids in her class. I felt confident and heard ever time I left their facility and the communication with the teachers and director have all been clear. It took some juggling but we are now attending there part-time. Today is her first day at KC. To my surprise, I received an email around noon with a picture ensuring she was fine and had a great time playing outside. I appreciated the director taking the time to ease my nerves into our first day. Upon our arrival, I noticed there were already assigned items to our daughter's name (clip board, cubicle, etc). I appreciated the organization and thoughtfulness of this facility. Hope to update soon with how things progress and if she likes being there!

I wish there was a website link to post but she's a "true artist" (can't be bothered keeping up with technology when there's so much beauty in the world to observe). My daughters don't go to St. Stephen's anymore but my oldest LOVES creating art and begged me to continue studing with Mrs. Mier threw her after school program. She offers classes on different days of the week depending on your child's age and ability. She doesn't take more then 8 students/class so the students get lots of instruction and attention. Classes are about $15/day one time/week. You will be AMAZED at what they will learn and bring home. I also want to mention she runs camps during the summer. Some threw the school and some threw her studio. Camps start July 9th-Aug.15th, 2013 and are very reasonible (i.e. Outdoor Sketching Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30p only $95). Mrs. Mier is just an amazing teacher that does what she does b/c she wants to mentor young budding artist. Her students have won Scholastic Art Awards, local duck/dog painting competitions and gone on to college majoring in the Arts. If you have a child interested in learning more about art or if you have a TAG Mrs. Mier's Studio is the place you'll want them to be. Call and talk to her directly about dates and times: 503-351-5304, you won't regret it!

Why would parents drop 10 grand on a service that basically only amounts to hand holding through the admissions process? From the beginning we were told our son should be "realistic" in his expectations, and that it was a waste of time to apply to schools like UCLA or UMich. Well he got into both after we fired these useless grifters. Any kids that get in to the top schools were probably going to get in anyway. I'm paying extra money to give my kid an unfair advantage. Not to boast, but my high school teachers were pleased with my writing. University admission officers are not evaluating a class of 30's essays, but faceless pools of applicants numbering in the thousands. Writing in such a way that catches those readers attention is Jodi's bread and butter. On a personal note, she listened to what I wanted from my college experience and gave me every piece of advice I needed in order to gain admittance (with fantastic scholarships to boot!). As any senior applying to multiple colleges will find, you lose yourself in writing dozens of essays explaining how much you love their institution. When I narrowed it down to my Top 2, the choice was clear, but I couldn't see it. Jodi led me through a visualization exercise that clarified the months of work I had done; I confidently made my final choice and could not have been happier with my college experience.
