The receipts from…read morethe shop for services over the years clearly show deceptive diagnoses, overcharges, incomplete repairs, and less-than-professional service and parts replacement. The most recent repair a transmission rebuild have the same problems that the bug exhibited before it was taken in. On the service receipt, the transmission was rebuilt. It still pops out of gear and leaks. The axle boots were installed in the incorrect position and basic replacement and checks were not conducted such as shifter bushing and coupler replacement to ensure these simple parts were not causing any issues. I have all the receipts and I have over 25 years of specific vintage VW mechanic experience, unfortunately, the previous VW owner placed their trust in the mechanics at Adria Imp which has clearly ripped off many people according to this and other reviews of this shop.

After almost 12 months (that's right 1 year) my friends car has finally been returned. Please keep in mind, my friend had to contact a lawyer in order to assist with the return of his vehicle. The condition in which his vehicle was returned to him just shows the lack of care for the consumer and the outright disrespect to provide the service that all these "5 Star" reviews showcase as the quality this so called "Automotive shop" provides. Don't take my word for it, I have receipts - please see all 9 photos below; there is mold build up, a broken window and the brand new battery appears to have been replaced, that's just to name a few.

I had Alec's Machine Shop disassemble a pair of vintage 1976 Harley Davidson Shovelheads from my original numbers matching Police Special FLH. While inspecting the heads, minus the valves, springs, and valve guides, I noticed the guide "boss" hole on the rear head, looked "beat-up." Upon closer inspection and measurements, it was blatantly evident the "engine builder" neglected to remove the heavy carbon deposits from the portion of the valve guide behind the valve. He hit the front head exhaust guide with such violence while trying to remove it from the head, that it broke a third of the guide right off, and then actually managed to drive the rear head guide (with all the heavy carbon deposits still attached), through the aluminum guide hole boss, tearing up the hole and rendering the damage beyond viable repair. My initial phone call to Alberto (company phone-answerer), to tell him of the damage I had found, was met with instant incredulity, and doubtful accountability. I took both heads in to have the owner's of the establishment scrutinize the findings; again, met with instant proclamations of prior damage, to minimize, if not eliminate, any compensation. All 4 guides (iron), measured .565", (including the guide that came from the now torn up guide hole, measuring up to .593"), and 3 guide holes measured the same (.565"). The damaged exhaust guide hole measured between .570", erratically up to .593". The hole was now "egg-shaped" and off center. The repair would cost a minimum of $850.00 before tax, and could only be performed by an extremely experienced machinist with the right tools, of which this shop was NOT qualified to perform. When all was said and done, no compensation was given, and they basically accused me of attempting to "scam" them, as they claimed that the broken head "may not even be the head they disassembled." After having my 35 years of vintage Harley experience minimized to novice proportions, I couldn't take the inability of these people account for their incompetence. I left feeling completely defeated, never to return.

Their super knowledgeable, friendly staff, are more than happy to hold your hand through your whole build. They have done a few of my engines flawlessly. I don't know about you, but trusting who builds your motor is a pretty serious decision to make as far as I'm concerned. I'd let these guys pack my parachute. Nuff said..

Buddy had my car for a couple months trying to find parts. In that time his technician got into an accident with my car. Fine, they'll fix it and get to working on the real problem. Over the holidays, the owner of the shop decides to leave my vehicle on the street outside of his lot. Tuesday morning I get a call from VPD. "Sir, someone has broken into your car and your car is filling with rain. I call Arbutus service centre, leave a msg, don't hear back. I call back at noon the next day, speak to the owner. "Oh it's not my responsibility where your car is left, I won't be taking any responsibility for the damage caused." You couldn't even call me to give me the option to move my car out of your location if you didn't have time to work on it or it was taking space or was going to sit there over the holidays. That's what you do Steve, you call the client and say "hey, parts haven't come in, I don't have room to store your car, can you come pick it up? I'll call ya when the part is in and you can bring it back. You DON'T leave the vehicle on the street, quite simple. My car being broken into is not what bothered me, nor the fact that I trusted my vehicle with this mechanic or that I spent 5k and the mechanical issue still persisted. It was the shitty attitude and absolute lack of any ownership that made me loose 1000% respect for this person and his business. If that's the new norm, bring your car to a mechanic but you can't trust they'll keep your car safe, I call bullshit.
