For a second time while there with apointment I was physicaly assaulted and verbally threatened, then chased off the property and across the street by staff. Staff called SLO-PD who arrived and threatened to arrest me and tow my car before any questions or investigation. Staff actively lied to police about the reason for my visit. I was forced to detail private medical information to police and public there about embarrassing colon procedures to avoid arrest and tow. Acording to Sierra Vista and police who agreed 'DARK SKIN MADE ME LOOK SUSPICIOUS'. Which required this response. And in some twist, both agreed that 'Google was evil and it is ILLEGAL FOR GOOGLE TO PHOTOGRAPH HOSPITAL PROPERTY FROM SPACE'. (They are not very bright) I had to listen to the recording several times, even after hearing it with my own ears. The first time, I was there, on phone with an on premises cptsd therapist, and waiting for my physical appointment. Next thing I know, security guards are harassing me while I'm on the phone appointment, then SLO-PD show up and surround my car in firing positions, yelling at me to leave immediately or be forced out of the vehicle in the handicap space and arrested.

Leaving this to balance out some of the harsher reviews, because a lot of what people are reacting…read moreto may have more to do with sleep labs in general than with this place specifically. **Getting there and settling in:** Easy to find, and parking in the back felt safe. The front door is clearly marked, and you could see people inside working and making beds, which was reassuring. You do have to ring a doorbell and wait for someone to answer, which makes sense for both staff and patient safety. I arrived early, and because of that I got to choose between a warmer or a colder room, though I'd guess that's not guaranteed if the place is busy. The bed itself was comfortable, not high-end, but the bedding was nice with the option of a lighter blanket, and the pillows were fluffy. I asked for extra pillows, which they provided. **The tech:** My respiratory therapist, Margarita, was kind, informative, and put me at ease the whole time. **About the rough night, if you're reading other reviews and worried:** If you already know you have apnea or another sleep issue, you're going into an unfamiliar place, wired up, knowing someone can walk in on you. That combination reliably makes it take longer to fall asleep, longer to find a comfortable position, and produces lighter sleep than normal. That's not a reflection on the facility, it's just what happens on the first night anywhere like this. I also want to explain something for anyone whose review mentions hearing doors slam or loud bangs in the night: that's very likely "exploding head syndrome," a real, harmless, well-documented phenomenon where your brain generates the perception of a loud noise during the transition between sleep and wakefulness. I honestly don't think it's the building or the staff. If that happened to you, you weren't imagining it and nothing was wrong with the room, it's just a known quirk of how sleep works, especially in an unfamiliar place. **A few practical tips if you're headed here (or any sleep lab):** If you already use a CPAP, bring your own mask. If it fits their tubing, they'll probably let you use it. I'm a very light sleeper and I use an eye mask and Loop earplugs every night at home. They let me wear both, and the tech helped me get the eye mask on over all the wires. If you're a light sleeper, bring them. They use a gel-like adhesive to attach electrodes to your face and scalp. There was tissue in the room - use it to wipe it off your face as electrodes come off. If you're bald, the same applies to your scalp; if you have hair, plan to shampoo twice with warm water once you're home. I have sensitive skin, and the adhesive pulled some skin off my neck when it was removed. If I do this again, I will not exfoliate the night before, and I'll put on a fast-absorbing face lotion about an hour before arriving to give my skin a little more protection. Skip anything greasy since it can interfere with the electrodes sticking, though in practice that seemed like less of an issue than I expected going in. Overall, a good experience for what's an inherently strange thing to do to your body and your sleep for a night.

This place is a joke. If your physician refers you for a sleep study through them, ask your…read morephysician to find another vendor. I submitted my sleep study to REM and messaged my physician after six weeks to get results only to be told they still didn't have them. I called REM and they informed me that the equipment failed to record quality data so I would need to redo the study. I asked why they never informed me or my physicians office and they claimed to have called me once and that was all they had time for. There was no explanation as to why they didn't leave a message or inform my physician. My phone number was not a cell and has logs for all incoming or outgoing calls regardless of whether my cell was reachable, so it was easy for me to catch that lie--they simply never called me. However, they absolutely did BILL my insurance immediately THE DAY I submitted the sleep study despite them failing to provide a service due to equipment failure! If I had not remembered to follow up on it, I would have simply been ripped off by REM with no recourse. They had me retake the sleep study and told me my results would be available by the third Tuesday after I submitted it. They told me I could only receive results via my physician and not directly from REM. I made a physician's appointment for the third Tuesday and discovered that my physician still did not have results from REM. I called REM and they said they'd request their team to expedite the review and try to get the results out by the end of the day. I asked them to send me the results directly so I didn't need to pay for another doctor's appointment since they wasted my time and money today. They told me due to HIPAA compliance they could only share directly with the physician. Which obviously makes no sense because HIPAA protects patients from Covered Entities and Business Associates from sharing patient data with third parties -- not patients from getting direct access to their own health information from a Covered Entity. It has been 2.5 months since taking the original sleep study and I still have no results. REM exists to collect money and not to provide a service to patients.

Though I have found that making an appointment ahead of time helps cut down the wait considerably, and will get scheduled faster if you get the order from the doctor instead of having to wait for a call. All the times I've gone the tech who actually performed the imaging tests, a young man, was professional and courteous and went above and beyond to help me due to concerns over a medical device implant. The X-Ray, MRI and CT scans were over very quickly, and he helped calm me down when I needed it. Still waiting to see how long it takes to get the expedited results of the last test so I will update my review later. The front staff seemed overworked, and it doesn't help doing so many different tests from so many doctors in one place, but they've always been open to answering my questions. If you do have a question, it's definitely better to go ask in person (again sign in), rather than call because your question will be answered better and faster. Lots of parking and large waiting room with A/C is a plus but I know others have had worse visits than mine so it seems to be a mixed bag.

It is just exhausting to deal with this company. No matter what I do, I can't seem to even make a…read moresimple appointment for an MRI and bone scan on the phone. Even when I get through on the phone, they say no one is available who can schedule me. Today I got a rep who identified herself as a new phone trainee. I asked to schedule an appointment yet again, and she said "sorry I can't do that. I will have to take your information and have a trained agent call you back." The agent whom I spoke with on the phone 10 days ago already promised that she would call me back when they had time to find my orders in their chaotic records system (orders already confirmed sent by my doctor and confirmed received by Adventist according to that rep.) No one has called me back yet. 10 days of waiting for a scheduling phone call is unacceptable. They have my orders. My doctor told me to go and schedule in person because they were impossible to deal with on the phone, and if I wanted to schedule I should go in person... she advised going elsewhere, but riding in the car with a broken back is painful. I thought "How bad can it be?". I should have listened. Going in to their offices in person was not easy for me considering my back is broken, but I managed it anyway. There was almost no parking within walking distance for me. When I got into the lobby, I had to stand in line for 40 minutes with no sitting option while the 2 people, who were supposed to be doing appointment scheduling and check-ins, were typing stacks of patient files into the computers at their stations. 1) Having only 2 receptionists out front for a business that deals with so many patients is critically low staffing... For instance San Luis Diagnosic almost always has at least 4 staff out front, more on the phones, and the employees out front don't take outside phone calls. At SLO Diagnostic those critical patient care staff members are not also tasked with entering thousands of sensitive patient records into a different patient records system. Whoever the site manager for Adventist Health is, they are woefully undereducated in patient care and employee health and wellbeing. If Adventist Health cares so little about patient care and even their own employee stress levels, why would they care about patient health behind the scenes or the accuracy of patient records in their care??? After 20 min of standing in line with a broken back and no chair, I sat down beside the indicated red circle on the floor where I was supposed to stand. I was admonished because the staff said they couldn't see me in line from the chair, even though there was a huge line of patients in line behind me going out the door. I finally stood up, walked up to the window at the back, and asked the supervisor when I and the people in line out the door behind me would be helped. She came forward and apologized for the long wait times. She was very kind and the first person who actually acknowledged my presence in the room. She asked me if she could help me herself. This kind woman said Adventist had tasked her 2 staff members to convert all of the patient records in the old Selma Carlson computer system to the Adventist Health Records system, and that the normal scheduling employees were completely overloaded doing required data entry for that project. What about hiring a dedicated records team to do that important work? People who actually do that kind of work for a living? Are the records of my MRIs so unimportant that employees who are already overloaded are tasked with inputting them under great stress with people in lines out the door, whom they are supposed to be helping, stand in long lines waiting... some very elderly or with broken backs like me, while they are told to ignore us? Adventist is already paid a lot more (30%+) for the same services without having to give good care, what motivation exists for them to improve anything about the patient's actual experiences with their facility? People who are sick and in pain often can't drive 30 miles away to seek better care elsewhere. Because my doctor sent the orders for my scans here, and they refuse to transfer them to a different company, I have to get completely new orders to be seen elsewhere... costing me even more time while I'm suffering without a clear diagnosis. I've never even heard of a medical professional refusing to forward orders to another provider for any reason. It's a clear home run of terrible service: 1) no trained personnel to do real patient interactions 2) an antiquated records system that isn't being updated by dedicated personnel 3) impossibly long 60m+ wait times for patients coming in for appointments or making simple appointments for services 4) no competent top level management oversight regarding employee management, patient care, confidential records handling, and patient scheduling.
