Started with this company before their current name. They were the longtime Rayne Water distributor in North Orange County. I believe the Rayne Water company was acquired by a hostile takeover and this company was rebranded Pacific Coast Water. Let me start by saying the tech who comes to change the tank is very nice and friendly, I have only good things to say about him. My area of concern is with the lady who answers calls, she's very rude, curt, and unhappy, I think. Customer service is not her calling in life. The billing is off as well I'm continuously charged a late fee even though payments are received a week before the due date. We've been a customer well over 25 years but enough is enough, I'm tired of the squirrely accounting. I'm not saying not to use this company only do your research. We've been loyal customers since 2010, and saw many areas needing improvement. First, Rayne does not remind us regularly when our water softener and drinking water systems need maintenance. (They have different service intervals.) Typically I'd initiate making the appt, then they will remind me shortly before the date of appt. But if I forget to make maintenance appts, they won't remind me. Second, the biggest problem I encountered, is after 4-5 years of ownership, mineral buildup began on all our faucets, shower heads and knobs. They became stuck. We had to replace all faucets and shower heads/knobs twice in 12 yrs, which was costly and inconvenient. The problem? The water softener monitor was not calibrated correctly by the Rayne staff technician based on the hardness of local water supply, so 20% of our in-house water was not softened. In other words, we had hard water inside the house one day out of every five, hence the mineral buildup. Rayne did try to make amend by replacing the resin of our water softener in 2021 after I called and complained. So we are keeping the Rayne water softener unit for now, but I hired a knowledgeable technician from another company for future maintenance. Third, our Rayne water RO drinking system has caused air gap issues and leaks under kitchen sink. It's an old design flaw. When I called about it, the office manager seemed to be more concerned about legal risk and liability (e.g. homeowner is responsible for air gap and all plumbing issues and Rayne is not at fault) than customer service. She did her best, I guess. Our Rayne drinking water system needs to be replaced this year, so I did lots of research. I found many better products at lower prices than Rayne's latest products and prices. Many competitive RO drinking water systems have better designs with no air gap issue and lower water waste. Finally, the Rayne drinking water faucet's light indicator, which signals a need for battery change, stopped working after just 1 yr of use. (It was supposed to last many many years.) Clearly there was a quality issue with the faucet. Replacement cost of the faucet was unreasonably high, so we used the flawed faucet for 10+ yrs. Overall, I respect Rayne for being a reputable company for many decades, but their products are based on old technologies and designs while competitive products offer better value propositions. Rayne water softener system is OK but you need an expert technician to calibrate and maintain the system. Drinking water system works but is more expensive than competition, with less features, and you need to be aware of water waste ratio, potential design flaws (air gap related), product qualities, and cost of maintenance over the life of ownership. read more

Living in an area that uses groundwater really stinks. The water is so full of calcium and hard that my bath faucets start growing stalagmites and stalagtites resembling the Calico train ride at Knott's Berry Farm. The wear and tear on all of the o-rings on the rest of your plumbing fixtures is tremendous. In Tecchy nerd-speak - the water is so alkaline, that a lab I once worked at used the tap water for an acid neutralization step - that's pretty bad; it even stated this in their SOP. For those of you who have never had the pleasure of having soft water, it means that your clothes are softer, your skin feels cleaner, and your hair even improves in condition. You do get that slippery feeling and it feels like it takes forever to get off the soap, but boy does it eliminate the soap scum in my shower! When I first looked into various water treatment companies such as Rayne and Culligan, Rayne had the best price overall. They also have different options. I rent out my softener and pay a monthly fee. They take care of the salt and I don't have to worry about a thing. The delivery person is so nice every time and he even brings in the paper! Rayne is a family business clearly focused on service as they have bent over backwards to make sure I stay satisfied. In the soft water business, that's a hard thing to do! I would not endorse this company or a salt system. The older lady(s) that runs the front office is/are sort of grouchy and not nice to customers. Had one prior issue I had to discuss with the owner because of the lady(s) and recently I was told my salt water system was not working when their technician arrived to do monthly salt. When I gave the go ahead to do service to repair, I was told I had to be at the house when they arrived. Mine you I bought the unit from them and have monthly service with them on credit. When I told the older lady that I am self employed and could it be home during the week she says "ok, have a nice day" and hangs up. LOVE this company. I have a 10 year old system that wasn't softening our water. I decided to call Rayne since they are local to me. The first tech came out on Christmas Eve. He did find an issue and repaired it quickly. He told us to call back if there were any further issues. Lo and behold the water still wasn't getting soft. Called for a revisit from a tech; they had someone out within 48 HOURS of my call! One of the worst customer service I've received across different business sectors. 3 different customer phone reps were not curteous and very abrasive. If they are new with the company, they need to be re trained. If they are veterans of the company, they need to be re trained. I made an appt with the company to service my unit. They never showed up and never called to cancel. I tried to reschedule my appt but representative would not bend the four hour window rule to try to make up for not abiding to the scheduled appt. I can say much for the actual service quality because they never made it to my house. Just on upfront customer service alone, I would not recommend this company. read more

Used this water company for over five years.Service was good,office was horrible. They have there bills due on the twenty second or twenty third of each month,if you pay like most people on the first of the month they will charge you .50 cents late charge. I refused to pay finance charges since I pay my bills on the first of the month,racked up finance charges.Finally figured better straight this out as it has gone for years. As I look at my statement I notice that my rate had gone up $30.00 a month with no notice. I call get a lady that was nice but refused to budge. I asked when did service go up? She replied "when up first of the year would be happy to send you a copy of announcement. Got the feeling its was the old raise prices if someone complains send them a post dated notice trick.Years ago I asked if I could just pay on line or use a credit card was told no,after all who wants to spend all that time on water softening?Fast forward to Feb when I asked the lady to waive my finance charge she said she would check with office manager came back with they will if I gave them a credit card number! In fairness I had missed two payments which honestly was my fault,and would have never have happened if they had taken my credit card three years ago. Was last straw paid my bill in full and discontinued service. Feel sorry for the workers who now have to skip my house. Bad front office not a place I want to do bushiness with read more
