We purchased a water softener and reverse osmosis system for drinking water and we're very pleased with the product and service we purchased. Brian McCowin helped us from start to finish and answered our many questions. What we liked about their business model is that they represent numerous products, and could find the product that suited our needs most closely. We were interested in a system that was highly efficient, would last the test of time and resulted in minimal water wastage. Our garage also had some space constraints and so each of the units was installed in a separate location, which led to a much cleaner footprint in our garage. (Another company that we got a bid from did not want to split the units into different locations because it would result in more labor for them.) We had a water softener and reverse osmosis drinking filter installed by McCowin a couple years back, and we highly recommend them. They were very friendly and honest during our initial consultation, and explained all of the options available to choose from. Since then, they've always responded very quickly to any questions we had and with scheduling maintenance. So we moved in in late 2019 and had a McCowin system installed. The previous owners were awful with any kid of upkeep, so the system was older and hadn't been serviced in its time frame. So when we moved in and asked for check of our system they came out and "serviced" out water system. While the service technician was young and friendly he failed to address two major issues, one the water softener wasn't working, (something we realized after having our system refurbished) and two we had leaks from from the valves above the water tanks (something I had said before the inspection). Here is where they get one star: The owner came out to inspect the work, bad mouthed the previous client (can't disagree with that assessment), but their water softener wasn't functioning and after I found leaks coming from the valves on their system, we were told (over the phone after his visit) "It is an old system" and that it would be another service charge to come out and address the issue. We ended up getting a different company (on our neighbors recommendation) to come out and reservice their equipment and now we have soft water a zero water leaks. They keep sending service reminders in the mail and call my phone, years after their failed service. Pretty much the reason for this post. Go to another water service provider."" read more

If youre looking to add a water softener and/or RO system to your house, you need to tell all the other contractors, "I found someone else thank you for you time.", because McCowin is who you want to go with. You'll see when you have those "other guys" come by and check out your system and give you a quote, McCowin is heads and shoulders above. The rep they sent out for me, Kenny, was on time, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Can't say the same for those "other guys". McCowin will test your water, explain, and answer all your questions. And only after then will they recommend a solution, with multiple budget levels. One of the "other guys" came over and immediately shoved a flyer in my face for the most expensive model and said "you need this", all before asking me a question on what I wanted or examining the project at hand. Fast forward a week to the install day, the tech team they sent over, Bryan and Joel, were superb. Friendly, knowledgeable, skilled and clean. My project was definitely more involved then your normal install, running drain pipe throughout my garage, drilling through the countertop, a line to the fridge, but these guys did an excellent job, cleaned up after themselves, and finished all within the estimated time. To McCowin, thank you for taking care of me. You obviously set a high standard of quality for your service and staff, it shows. We could tell we had really bad hard water in our new home and talked to a few different companies to test our water. Scot confirmed what we expected, hard water levels were off the charts but we also had high chlorine levels. We ended up choosing McCowin because we liked that they aren't tied to any specific product, they are a vendor for multiple companies, so they can offer you a solution that fits your needs. Scot was the only one that could explain and offer a tradeoff of spending more now for a system that lasts longer versus spending less now but the system won't last as long. All the other reps could only sell us their own water softener and lock us into their system with often overpriced subscriptions. It's even more restricted if you go through a third party like Costco, they can only offer you specific models that usually cost more. Bonus is that we get to support a local independently owned business. We went with a top of the line Hague + RO system under the sink. Purchasing and installation was all quick and seamless. They walked us through the system and showed us the maintenance which has been a breeze. I liked that they were able to install the faucet for the RO water without drilling another hole in my counter, something no one else offered. They also fixed our low water pressure issue by adjusting our pressure regulator that takes water in from the city. Our family has been drinking safe high quality water and we get all the other quality of life improvements that come with soft water. If you've always lived in hard water areas of SoCal you'll be shocked to learn about and experience soft water! It's been over 1 year and we just had our first filter change. I can confidently say McCowin is a fantastic company and we could not be happier! Service has been excellent and everyone has been very knowledgeable. Followup service has been excellent as well. They helped us adjust the strength of the water softener and most recently are in the process of increasing the pressure from the RO filter to our fridge. Jeff B, the field supervisor, is amazing. We had a water softener and reverse osmosis system set up about 5-6 months ago, and have been living with the constant RO sound (when it's making water). It was annoying to deal with, to say the least, and was worsened when we repiped our house and had new pipes running underneath the master bedroom. I was ready to have McCowin remove the RO. But Jeff came by, changed/upgraded our membrane, did some other things, and in about 30 minutes, had removed that RO noise. Completely gone. I was amazed and delighted. Brian was a professional and a pleasure to work with. He showed up on time, communicated clearly the options, and recommended we get our water pressure checked before he would proceed. While that turned out to eat away at our budget to resolve some issues, it is better than focusing only on the sale and having regrets or warranty issues later. He even recommended a plumber who ended up being competitive to other quotes, but more importantly someone who followed through to check on what could be causing a strange issue. One of the best, if not THE best, experience I've had with a service provider ever. I needed to replace an old water softener unit in my home, and McCowin Water was the first I called. After the first interaction with Scot, I didn't bother calling anyone else. Scot was at my home at the start of the appointment window, so I wasn't stuck around waiting around for 2 hours (both times - once for the original estimate, and once for the measurements and final details). Both visits were less than 15 minutes. Obviously, I can't expect it'll always be like that, but at least for these two visits, I really appreciated it. He was professional, friendly, and didn't waste any time. He explained everything briefly in-person with me, left without any pressuring or selling me, and then quickly sent me a detailed email with all my options so that I could compare and consider the pros and cons of each unit. I felt pricing was very fair compared to what I had researched online beforehand, and lead time was very fast since everything is made in USA. He then sent me a personalized video thanking me for the opportunity and to let him know if I had any questions. And he made good on that by being available via text pretty much any time of the day to answer my follow up questions. Install was scheduled a week later and went very smoothly. I had confirmed I would be using potassium with Scot, but installers brought only regular salt. When I told them about it, someone brought over the potassium from their office right away and there was no delay in installation. We had the pleasure of being introduced to McCowin Water by a plumber who fixed our shower faucet. He noticed we had hard water and asked why we were having issues. We have been using Rayne Water for 15 years and this whole time we thought we had a Water Softener and instead he told us it was a water conditioner and that really upset us. Status June 23rd, 2020: I'm on week1 of my 1st soft water experience. Everything is going very well. I plan to chime in with updates over time. I looked at Salt-Free scaler systems, paired with filters. After researching multiple solutions, vendors, and associated options, I decided on the Hague Maximizer from McCowin. I'm currently using potassium, as opposed to salt. I will try salt at some point, and report back, with any differences. Unexpected Benefit: One thing that I didn't anticipate is the benefit to our granite counter tops. Prior to our softener installation, we had issues with spots on the counter tops. This used to drive my wife crazy. We had to wipe the counters constantly, even after simply washing our hands, in order to avoid build-up on the counter. We installed a whole-house water softening system and under-sink reverse osmosis system to (finally) cure our very hard water. Communication was top-notch throughout.
