He never did get back to me even though I reached out to him 2x after that. Not professional at all. Might have been a blessing in disguise because he took over a week to get the quote to me and appeared complacent and lazy. Could have been a warning sign.

Rather than using premade rounded baseboard pieces, Chris hand-cut the angles to create the corners himself. Most people probably wouldn't even notice something like that, but to me it says a lot about the quality of his work and the effort he puts into getting things right. Communication is also a big deal to me with any contractor. Projects don't always go exactly as planned, and when something comes up, you want someone who communicates with you instead of leaving you to discover it later. It was a small job with two small problem areas so I chose Chris with Deadline Flooring. So I had originally scheduled Chris to come out we agreed on a Monday. In the meantime I had a waterline burst in my upstairs master bath. As we all know, this is a huge inconvenience and affected my downstairs kitchen as well. Emergency services mitigation company was telling me that there may be a possibility that my new flooring in the bathroom may have to be removed therefore interfering with these two problem areas where the flooring meets the carpeting. This was the same day that Chris was going to help me and I Immediately sent him a voicemail along with a text telling him the situation right after E/S told me while doing their investigation. I told Chris that the flooring may have to be removed and would know more later. Thursday now sent Chris a text saying that thankfully the floor did not have to be removed And asked if he could still come out. He asked for more photos which I had already sent so I took more photos of the problem areas and sent them once again. So he stated that he would come by once again. I told him my availability and he said that he would be out in the afternoon sometime and did not designate a specific time. I asked Chris to please keep me informed and to let me know when he would be coming so I could be home to accommodate him and that I would not be out running errands. Following Wednesday sent Chris asking him if he was going to be out soon and he never responded all I got was crickets. Friday sent Chris another text telling him that I was moving on and thanked him for not responding and basically blowing me off and he should have told me that this job was too small and was not interested and was only wasting my time. Instead, he texted me back quoting "You know sir I was set and ready to go for your project the Monday when you cancelled an hour before...the least you can do is extend me the grace of not responding to your message as fast as you would like...by all means find somebody else". By all means Chris I sure will. I want to thank you for your compassion and understanding in a stressful situation and time for anyone experiencing a flood in their home. I also told Chris a job is a job. Customer is always right and only gives you a bad reputation. He should be grateful for consumers to be reaching out to Chris for his expertise. Yet he picks and chooses and is inconsiderate and rude after I was very polite with him. I would highly recommend you go elsewhere.

I have had Doug do several projects around my house.  First, he put in a back door and ramp off my back bedroom, then he put up a free-standing awning that a handyman could not install because he couldn't figure out how to do it.  Doug put up this awning all by himself, and it's quite heavy and awkward. When I first met Doug shortly after moving into my home, Doug noticed that the water heater was not vented.  The building inspector failed to notice this and did not report it.  Doug said that the water heater door, which faces outside, was not up to code and the heat buildup could cause a fire.  On further examination, Doug noticed that, yes, a small fire had occurred and melted a plastic part. Doug immediately went to the hardware store, bought a vent plate, cut the proper opening in the door and installed the vented plate. I do not hesitate to leave Doug alone in my home while he works if I'm gone.  He is very honest, is good to my dogs and his prices are very reasonable -- so reasonable, in fact, that I add to my payment and chastise him for not asking for more.
