Snowy River Cotons

Snowy River Cotons

(1 review)

Hailey Parker of Snowy River Cotons sold me a female Coton puppy in 2018 for $2500 cash or…read morecashier's check only. I wonder why as there seems to be no traceable income from my purchase for Parker's breeding. Although Mylie Moo was small, Parker repeatedly represented that she was fine and healthy. As a first-time dog adopter, I believed her and loved this dog with all my heart. Mylie Moo died tragically at age 7 after a difficult life riddled with medical and emotional issues, which has left me devastated to lose her and in a horrific way. Without warning, she went from panting the morning I was going to take her to the beach, to urgent care just to be safe, then bleeding out through the lungs choking on an intubation tube and had to be put to sleep. I carried her home in a box to be put in a cooler to allow for a necropsy and have been a wreck in the three months since this happened. These are the facts: I added up the costs and vet bills I could locate: they document over $67,000 spent in seven years and that does not even include thousands of dollars of prescription food, grooming, supplies, dog beds, leashes, toys or any of the several thousand more spent on those things. 1. Mylie had problems with diet, throwing up and diarrhea from the start, for which Parker blamed me for not being strict about only giving her kibble which she would not eat. After many months of struggle, Mylie was put under anesthesia and biopsied by an internist, then diagnosed with irritable bowel. She had to eat prescription hydrolyzed food to try to reduce inflammation, along with many other products and treatments she was prescribed for maintenance and flares. 2. She was also itchy, developed yeast infections of paws and ears, and was diagnosed via dermatologist testing with environmental allergies in addition to her food sensitivities, necessitating immunotherapy injections biweekly plus injections of cytopoint for years. 3. Mylie underwent biopsy by internist also to diagnose severe inflammation in her nasal cavity necessitating steroid inhaler to try to avoid violent reverse sneezing. 4. Luxating patella in rear leg diagnosed by orthopedist. 5. Intravertebral disc disease necessitating ramps and joint supplements, diagnosed by vet and orthopedist. 6. Missing teeth never formed and frequent gingivitis, trouble eating kibble with tiny sparse teeth, teeth cleaning under anesthesia. 7. Anxiety causing constant licking, fear/barking at other dogs preventing leash walks, and wanting to be held all the time. She was referred to behavioral specialist. She nipped at my child for years until her allergies and food issues were controlled as she must have been cranky from the pain and suffering in her bowels and constant itchiness. 8. Dilated cardiomyopathy - Despite having such frequent medical attention, Mylie Moo died tragically at age 7 of undiagnosed dilated cardiomyopathy - according to the pathologist who performed a necropsy in Davis, CA. This is a fatal heart condition that can be genetic, or idiopathic, or caused by a virus for example. The pattern of scar tissue on her heart indicated to the pathologist that it was not a sudden cause and could be genetic. Through the years of caring for Mylie Moo, I contacted Parker many times to report health conditions that continued to be diagnosed, on the mistaken belief that she'd want to know for the benefit of her breeding program and other owners of related dogs. Parker was not only unsympathetic but combative in arguing that her dogs were 'cleared' and there was nothing she was interested to know or share about Mylie's condition as it had no bearing on her whatsoever. Mylie went for medical care literally hundreds of times in her short life. The sudden and horrible death we experienced has scarred me emotionally. I personally would never buy a puppy from Hailey Parker again. I ask myself what led to a puppy with so many problems and have questions I'd like answered -- did the mom get adequate nutrition during pregnancy for example. Was the mom geriatric for example. Were the mated dogs genetically related for example. When I asked Parker whether Mylie Moo was genetically related to another coton we adopted, I found it difficult to get answers from her and she said she could not remember among very long, combative emails rather than answer the simple question. She claimed she had to look in her storage and did not remember which dogs were related even though her breeding animals were family pets living with her. It turns out they are genetically related and guest what my other dog also has irritable bowel, food issues, and intravertebral disc disease, as well as anxiety and reactivity to other dogs to the point he was on medication for his back and anxiety, and he nevertheless instigated a fight with a big black lab and got his ear ripped open.

Two of my children struggle with pet allergies so I knew getting a dog may have been out of the question. I did over a year of research on the breed that would be most beneficial with those that suffer from allergies and found that either Schnauzer or Doodle would be best. Next I started to research breeders for both but finally landed on just doodles. That's when I came across Sugar Pine Doodles on the internet. I had reservations given all the horror stories you hear about fake breeder websites that prey on people and steal hundreds of dollars. I read though all the information on the website and finally decided to make contact through email. Dale was my first point of contact and he was patient enough to answer all my first time pet owner questions. Just a couple months after my first contact, family and I were on our way to pickup our boy (we didn't know at the time he was going to be a boy). Dale and Jeannine were very patient with us and let us spend as much time during pickup at their home. They walked us through everything from puppy stages, concerns, things to look for, etc... They were very knowledgeable on the breed and made the decision an easy one. Mason just passed his 4th birthday and I can't say enough that he's one of the best decisions we ever made. There was a lot of trial and error, given our rookie status, but after all the patience and training he received, he is the best boy ever! We can't imagine living this life without him. He spends the majority of his time with my oldest daughter in college and has really helped her. He is her ESA. We will definitely be purchasing another pup from Sugar Pine, but just waiting on the right time. I would recommend them a million times over.

Absolutely exceptional breeder!…read more I got my second Mini Aussie from LLA about 3 years ago and am about to get another - absolutely can't recommend them enough. In an industry where there are a lot of poor breeding practices, especially with what has become a popular breed, it becomes so important to make sure you have a really reputable breeder. LLA's professionalism, genuine love for their dogs, and commitment to responsible breeding are exceptional. Having owned Mini Aussies now for 18 years, I'm super picky about where I get my dogs! They really put the welfare of their puppies above all else when selecting adopters and I love that they don't dock their dog's tails as well as provide Volhard testing results so you can really match the right drive dog for your family and lifestyle. To sum up, I highly recommend Lucky Little Aussies for anyone seeking a trustworthy and dedicated Toy/Mini Aussie breeder.

Her process is thorough and methodical which really ensures for a more positive pairing of families! We couldn't be happier with our puppy Perkins. P.S that 1 star review by Jasmine is absolutely bogus. Religion has nothing to do with the adoption process. She's a very angry person that has nothing better to do than harass Lucky Little Aussies. We've worked with the UC Davis Vet Behavioral School as well as multiple trainers and thankfully, we were referred to Judith at Red Mountain Canine as a trusted, responsible caretaker. My partner and I have put in countless hours of training and it's very important to us that whoever takes care of Ollie minimizes his triggers and respects his limits as to not regress on our progress made. Judith is a god send! We did a meet-and-greet and then boarded our dog with her for 4.5 days. This was the first time both of us were away from him since rescuing him in April 2020. She's incredibly thorough in making sure she has all the necessary care information and is very thoughtful with how she engages with our dog. Our dog is very sensitive and Judith is the perfect match for him. She is patient, communicative, and professional. She gave Ollie his medicine in the morning and evening and helped make progress on his behavior training plan (stranger danger). She also sent us awesome updates and photos during our trip. You can tell she really cares about her clients :) We are really thankful to be able to work with Judith and she gives Ollie the time and attention he needs to be successful. She even builds on the work we do at home with him! We look forward to using Red Mountain for the rest of our boarding needs.
