My dad taught English Richmond and said he would bet anything he owned that my rot stoner had a better functional use of English Hann most of the kids he graduates. Having that dog for my best friend was the most rewarding experience of my life. He made it a few days past his 12 to birthday and letting him go has been really hard on me . Now you picked him out for me sight unseen for me and what a great dog you picked. If at all possible I would be honored if you could let me know when you might have a whole new litter to make another pic for me. Only a couple of things I'd like another big boy. And stone was darker than most rots ( I'm sure you get what I mean ) if possible that's my preference. I originally wrote a very wonderful review for our Rottweiler puppy we purchased almost 8 months ago, since then his paws have been progressively growing outwards and has developed a limp, the vet said it looks like he's developing elbow dysplasia. I get no reply from the breeder regarding my concerns, this is very heart breaking as he is a loving member of our family, not to mention the $2500 price tag to purchase him as well as the visits to the vet which have topped over $900 thus far. I used to get instant replys from the breeder when asking general questions about our new pup, when questions about these problems came about, I received no reply. I am very disappointed in Betty at Vom Hagnadottirs. This is our experience from April 2015. All the other recent reviews I see on Yelp are from people who got their dog from her YEARS ago. So maybe things have changed, not for the better. Problem #1: When my husband contacted her by phone, he was clear that his interest was taking a male pup home. When we made our 1.5hr drive to Von Hagnadottirs, she only had females available to go home. She did have 10 pups under the 8 week period, and a Rottweiler giving birth at the moment. But we wanted one already. Problem #2: As we talked, walked around her kennels and area, to get to know her it all seemed too cold. She was strictly business, no care for the breeding dogs. While HER dogs were in large kennels next to her house, there were about 15 kennels with German Sheppard's or Rottweiler's, these kennels were half the size of HER dogs kennels. There was poop/pee all over, one dog was drooling a very thick saliva, so thick iwouldn't even fall off her mouth. Worse, Betty said: " I don't have time to wash their teeth" Which made me think, if they make so much money, couldn't you pay someone to come in and clean their kennel, wash their mouths?? In the end, we left without making a purchase. read more

Are family was lucky enough to find Betty. We went for one Rott but came home with two loving, cuddling, smart, kid friendly and very protective girls. The only thing that I'm not happy about is one of them gets seizures. To see your love one have a seizure is very sad and scary. We are heart broken. We purchased the most beautiful puppy from Betty 6 years ago. Unfortunately, Chip 360 (that's his chip #) in year 4 started having seizures. Chip now has 3 genetic abnormalities. Sever cluster seizures, blind in left eye, and suffers from low sugar. You can read below the examination from UC Davis one of the finest Vet Schools in the country. Please think again before purchasing a puppy from Betty. NEUROLOGIC EXAMINATION: Chip exhibited weakness in all 4 limbs (more pronounced in his rear limbs) and exhibited a generalized wobbly gait, had decrease awareness of position of his limbs in space, all of which are likely secondary to the side effects of his anti-seizure medications. He appeared blind in his left eye and his leg pupil did not respond to light as it should. On fundic examination (looking at retina or back of his eye), he had smaller than normal optic disc (point of entry of optic nerves in retina). Upon informal consult with the Ophthalmology Service, it is suspected that he may have congenital abnormality in the size of his optic disc/nerves, that is affecting his left eye more than right eye. The rest of his examination was unremarkable. ASSESSMENT: Given his prolonged history of seizures and the age of onset of his seizures, we strongly suspect that Chip has idiopathic epilepsy or genetic seizure disorder. However, further diagnostics are necessary to rule out other possible causes of seizures such as structural anomaly (congenital structural anomaly, cancer, etc). Patients with idiopathic epilepsy will likely require anti-seizure medications for the rest of their life. In patients with well-controlled epilepsy, we except to see 1 seizure every 6-8 weeks. Chip, however, has not been able to go longer than 2 weeks without a seizure and the characteristics of his seizures are changing (recent onset of cluster seizures). It is possible that Chip has refractory epilepsy that is that is very difficult to get under control with any combination of medications. read more

I bought 1 of Betty's rotties 9 years ago. You can see her on Betty's webpage. I've now had rotties for over 20 years & Betty's dogs are by far the most intelligent, sound, well behaved dogs. Of course that is if you properly socialize & train. Betty is very knowledgeable and ready to answer any & all questions. She asks the right questions to make sure you are right for a rottie. I personally would not recommend this breeder. She fails to abide by her own contract and the dogs are consistently poorly bred. I am the second buyer this year with a 6 month old puppy with elbow dysplasia. Both front paws turn completely outward and the dog yipes just doing normal walking. The breeder will make every attempt to blame the purchaser for the issues with the dog. It took over 20 emails and several months just for her to provide the paperwork on the DAM, that should have gone home with me upon picking up the puppy. According to Betty "she only bred the DAM because her owner left her at her home and she needed to make money off of her for having to take care of the dog". Now after 4 months the DAM only has her OFA hip verification number and not her Elbows. Rottweilers need to go through hip, elbow, cardiac, and eye exams, though only 2 test are fully required to be done before breeding. This lady and all of her experience she claims to have, does not care about the quality of dogs she is putting out in the world she is just in it for the money!! She agreed to refund $1000 for the dog and for me to keep her. In two days she has changed her mind and her story over 10 times and refuses to refund my money until the dog is 18 months which is coincidentally the time her contract voids. Buyers beware spend a little more and buy a quality dog elsewhere. read more

The owner Betty Burden was professional and one of the only breeders I have spoken to who still has a contract protecting my puppies hips until they are 18 months. She was easy to talk to she keeps a list and it goes in order of who called first. Her web site was very easy to follow. She sells top quality puppies all come from German lines and many hold titles in more than one show ring especially in the Rottweiler show rings. She has the mother and father on site.
