Five Stars - Exceptional Dog Rescue! I can't say enough good things about NorCal Bully Breed Rescue! This small, foster-based rescue is run by just two incredibly dedicated individuals who go above and beyond to make sure every dog finds the right home. They put in an amazing amount of time and care, going through each adoption process with an attention to detail that's truly remarkable. They are thorough and compassionate. They don't just hand over a dog and hope for the best--they take the time to conduct in-person yard checks, make sure the home is a safe fit, and organize meet-and-greets with existing pets to ensure everyone would be comfortable and happy. It's clear they truly care about each dog's future and prioritize not just finding a home, but the RIGHT home. The level of commitment they put into every placement, especially considering it's just two people managing everything, is so inspiring. You can tell they have such a strong passion for rescue, and they provide so much support to both the dogs and the adopters. If you're considering adopting, fostering, or supporting a rescue, and live in the greater Sacramento I highly recommend. They are a real asset to the community, and I'm so grateful for the work they do!

Scandalous booty shot: Meatloaf and Tofu policing the yard.

We adopted our good boy Meatloaf from NBBR and have also fostered for them (Tofu!). Anna is fast and supportive in responses, clear on expectations and realities, and super committed to dog safety and dog success. That means all dogs involved and all humans, too! We also know a really fabulous dog rescue person who works closely with NBBR and that helped us to trust them and get involved, ourselves. But Leslie and Anna are rad no matter how one gets connected to them. I don't know how they do what they do and how they deal with all the challenges this work must present (people suck so bad sometimes).

If you're looking to find your fur-ever baby, NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is the first place to look! They were quick to reply to my interest and were extremely patient with all my questions. They were thorough, friendly, and caring through the entire process and continue to be. It is clear the needs of all their precious pups come first, and they take the process seriously! They are passionate about placing each and every one in the perfect fur-ever home, and I felt that dedication! I am so happy we now have the sweetest, most perfect fur-ever addition to our family! Our hearts are full!!

I had a horrendous experience with this" rescue". I have never been treated so badly in my entire life. I came to this rescue looking for help for my dog. I ended up being totally attacked, name called, and threatened. I still am totally unclear on what her issue with me was. Whatever it was it is totally heart sickening that I was treated how I was. It was completely uncalled for especially considering I had never even met anybody in this rescue. I pray for whoever I dealt with you obviously have a lot of turmoil in your life and I pray that you find peace treating people how you do will not get you there. Lindsay B. You do not know anything about me! I am asking you and your cohorts PROOF where or who have I ever scammed?? I am looking for CANS. I have not asked anybody for money! I really think you have me confused.. I have Many professional references, I take excellent Care of my dogs. I work Two jobs as a caregiver, I live out of my car because rent is 2300+ People need to be held accountable for the way they treat other people. I did nothing to deserve the backlash I got. I have plenty more screenshots talking about how I am a scammer and I don't work and live in my car. CRUEL!! And STILL no proof of any sort of scam! GIVE ME A BREAK. I was bullied. Treated like this because I collect CRV? Outright pulled the rug from helping my DOG because of some weird vendetta against me? Worst experience ever. I love pit bulls but you guys are no better than those who DISCRIMINATE AGAINST BULLY BREEDS! I wish I could understand what the issue is. But all I was asking for was help for my dog Boomer. AS OF TODAY THIS WAS LAST TEXT. I am not lying on you I am literally sharing my experience. Please, kept threatening me for sharing my experience.

This rescue pulls euthanasia listed dogs from shelters, takes in severe medical need animals, helps members of the community with their rehoming needs and places dogs in wonderful foster homes and into new and amazing forever homes. They are incredible at what they do. Do they care more about the animals than they do about hurting your feelings? Yes! And that's the way they should be!! They will give you honest feedback on what if anything they can help you with. They will also deny an adoption if they think the dog would be better placed in a different home. If you truly love animals, that is everything you should want in a rescue. I truly love animals and that is why I truly love NorCal Bully. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

This rescue really has heart and looks out for what's best for the dogs in their care. couldn't ask for better communication and support. even though I didn't adopt directly from them they helped me with a care package for our newest family member they had posted about. thank you thank you thank you for everything you do and all the work put in for the bully breeds. you're nothing short of amazing

I reached out to NorCal Bully Breed Rescue about a Boston Terrier they had available. I live just outside Auburn California and see their posts shared often in my Boston Terrier FB groups. It turns out they *only* adopt to Sacramento area. So, I suggested they adjust their name to Sacramento Bully Breed Rescue as NorCal is very misleading. I said I'd unfollow them because I'm not an eligible owner. I wasn't being snarky or pouty, just honest. But the person who responded misread the tone of my message. Apparently, you aren't allowed to own more than one dog to be considered by them. My FB page shows me with our four Boston Terriers, but what it doesn't tell you is that THREE of them have died in the past FOUR months due to old age. Our hearts have been broken in the worst way and we're still coping with our grief. I tried to respond to tell them that, but they decided to be petty and hurtful in their response, then immediately blocked me. Maybe they just don't like the look of me? Don't believe me, here's screenshots of our conversations. Avoid them.

Wish I could give zero stars. Here's some screenshots as to why .. I see Leslie responding to reviews here so I'll give proof. The photos will be jumbled up, for some reason Yelp doesn't post photos in order. 2 of the screenshots are my original messages to the rescue, one is of them blocking me on instagram and the rest is our email conversation. Unprofessional, zero compassion and empathy, horrible communication. The fact that someone like this works with dogs is wild to me. Treat your consumers better. Maybe there won't be so many one and two star reviews.

I wrote to this organization in desperate need of help looking to rehome my dog or for some resources. I understand my case is difficult because I have a dog with human aggression but he is just puppy and I believe he can be rehabilitated with the right people. However, with my living situation I know I cannot provide the right training and rehabilitation for my dog. I was met with a condescending response. Unfortunately this interaction happened on Facebook so I couldn't see who responded. When they let me know they would be uncomfortable networking my dog (which I understand), I asked for resources and they said to Google how to safely rehome a pet. Obviously, if it was as simple as a Google search I would not be reaching out to organizations. Then I was just blocked. I don't understand how this place that is an "organization" can lack empathy.

Has to have the last word and responds very rudely and childlike.

No wonder we have such an influx of pets that don't get adopted. My son and his wife lost their kitty and they went there just to visit and give some kitties some attention to help get over their grief. You have to have an appt to give these poor animals attention? This is the most ridiculous and sad thing I've ever heard. It is cruel. Also why would I make an appt to see only one pet when I may not be compatible with that pet. I Would want to see several until I find one that is compatible.

Many adopters can vouch that when they take their adoptee home, their new animal comes off of the medications and starts to become crazy etc. This was not the same dog you met at the shelter, right? Because they are all overloaded on medication. This is supposed to be nonprofit, but they adopt their animals out on insane prices. $500 for an adult dog, crazy much? You have to make an appointment to even be able to see a dog, if slots are booked out for the day Goodluck getting that dog you came so early for. Facility is really clean and maintained. Dogs are always sleepy due to the insane number of medications they are given, so the facility is fairly quiet. They seem to have a low number of euthanasia, which is another great thing. The new building they built has made the parking lot to only have about 10 spots. Now you have to find street parking. Sometimes people just want to come look at dogs too, front staff are very adamant about why you are there for.

We had booked a private tour for his birthday to meet the rescue animals who call this beautiful place home. Yasmin met us at the entrance and, after swapping shoes for some solid boots, gave us a very honest, very real, and very important rundown of industrial agriculture. Now, I have to add, neither of us are vegan or even vegetarian, but Yasmin proved to be an actively non judgmental, compassionate host. She walked us through the grounds, addressing each animal by name, and was full of knowledge and insight! After the initial meet and greet, we were off! We hiked across the beautiful grounds and met tons of sheep (Jet loved my partner!) goats, and pigs; all of the animals roam freely, coming and going as they please. It was actually delightful how so many of the animals came up to say hi and hang out out of their own volition! We brought some grapes for the chickens and they LOVED them! But oh my god, the turkeys. Wow, just, two little friendly, fluffy orbs that floated around our party showing off while Yasmin gave us an informed and empathetic story about them. She did that at every habitat; letting us in, introducing us (by name!) to the boldest of the bunch, and explaining how they ended up at Animal Place. It was an entirely wonderful, enlightening experience. Also, fyi, turkeys are so soft. I cannot recommend this organization enough. 10/10, please give Conrad an extra treat for me!
