Orphaned and abandoned newborn kitten and puppy rescue.
    R C.

This is a 100% volunteer and 100% donation run Cherity. They take in neonate kittens and puppies from the community and shelters. Raise them in private foster homes. They care for their medical and physical needs until they are Spayd or neutered have their firts set of shots and microchipped. Then they are adopted out to living families.

Here's a photo of my six kitten savages from Itsie Bitsie.

This rescue is absolutely one of the best you can find. I've adopted from other shelters and had problems with unhealthy kittens. However, Itsie Bitsie clearly goes above and beyond to not only save vulnerable orphaned kittens with an all volunteer crew and an organization completely donation funded, but they also make sure their kittens are healthy and 100% ready to be adopted before they ever leave their foster homes. I've heard people say their price for adoption is high, but if you breakdown the individual cost of everything they do to get the kittens ready for their new homes it's really a great deal and you have the peace of mind that you're starting out with a healthy kitten. If you're in the market to adopt a kitten, definitely go through this organization. They'll do right by you and you'll get a sweet new kitten to add to your family.

We adopted a kitten from Itsie Bitsie Rescue. She is the sweetest most amazing kitten! She was medically fragile as a young kitten and the rescue paid thousands to get her the medical care she needed to survive. I truly appreciate all the care and concern the amazing fosters in this organization have for the sweet kittens in their charge. Rescuing the smallest and most vulnerable kittens takes so much time, effort and money! This rescue is certainly a needed organization. We would adopt from them again and again! Such sweet kittens!

I've adopted many kittens from this group and they're the sweetest babies. Not sure why the other review says they're expensive. Weird comment when you see what the price includes. One of the most genuine group of animal lovers I've come across.

I came here to volunteer, and to my surprise, there were even younger kids participating. I learned that the minimum volunteer age is 10 years old. Some students were volunteering for school service hours, while others came through different companies and organizations. We joined the second shift from 1pm-4pm. The session started shortly after 1pm with a briefing and task assignments from the group leader. All tasks were explained clearly. The leaders checked on us throughout the shift to make sure we were doing okay and to see if anyone had concerns. Halfway through the shift, we had a 15-minute break, and one of the leaders brought ice cream to celebrate a volunteer's birthday and shared it with everyone. I thought it was a meaningful way to celebrate a birthday while helping a good cause. We actually finished around 3:30pm, and our shift completed: - 5,451 lbs of food packed - 474 boxes prepared for the "No Student Goes Hungry" program supporting students from elementary school through college in Sacramento County. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, and the facility was clean and organized. Restroom: clean, bright, and decent. If you are interested in volunteering, check out their website and register in advance.

Within all of this stuff, was a bunch of new and lightly used clothing. In the past I have donated clothing to my local Goodwill Express. However, I did some reflection and realized that all of the clothing that I donated was being sold for profit. Going forward, my intention was to donate to an organization that receives the donation(s) and distributes them to underprivileged individuals/families free of charge. Some research led me to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. Upon calling to verify their hours (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10am-1pm and Wednesday, 4pm-7pm), I gathered all of the clothing and hit the road on a mission to make a difference. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a Sacramento Food Bank employee who eagerly began to load my clothing donations onto a cart. Since a lot of the clothing consisted of dress pants and dress slacks, he proceeded to inform me about a program called "Job Smart Clothing." Job Smart Clothing is a program within Sacramento Food Bank that provides career appropriate apparel for underprivileged individuals interviewing for employment or currently employed. How cool is that? I'm not a representative for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. However, I will say that they provide an awesome service to the community, and that a little donation goes a long way (individuals who benefit from their services often leave with 15-20 pieces of clothing per visit). Before you throw away that piece of clothing that you think is out of style or doesn't quite hug your curves the way that they used to, think about donating it to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services!

For the thrift shop itself, they have a wide assortment of items available for sale. Home items, clothing, music, etc. I feel that some things are priced well, while others are overpriced. For instance, they had a power wheelchair in the shop priced at $4,000. I work in the wheelchair industry, so I understand that this chair has value, however, this wheelchair also has a repair history as noted on the back of the chair. For a thrift shop that has a mission of supporting families through such difficult times, I would hope that they would make the pricing on durable medical equipment more accessible to those who truly need it. This is a custom power chair, meaning it won't be a perfect fit for whoever buys it. There would likely need to be modifications and potential repairs, which would be even more out of pocket cost for the family. Other than that, spend time looking around at what else is offered. I liked looking through the home decor.

I happily support this non-profit and Community based thrift store by actively collecting gently used clothing every opportunity I have. I am grateful to the employees and volunteers who manage and maintain this business. All proceeds go to Snowline Hospice's Supportive Care and Children's Grief Programs. So worthy in my opinion. Dropping off whatever you may have to donate is easy and simple. You do not even have to leave your vehicle. Employees will come to your car. I just automatically pop open my trunk and they remove the items. Easy peasy. Should you want a receipt for tax purposes... it will be provided at that time. As well as a 10% discount type coupon you may use in the thrift store. It is a win win for everyone. Please consider donating whatever you may no longer need for such a wonderful organization. And, of course, purchases from the store are the backbone of securing the much needed monetary proceeds necessary to fund the programs. Thank you.

It's not as big as the other one was which was disappointing, but oh well. It's a small thrift store that had a lot of various pieces here. A small book section, clothes, a few pieces of furniture, etc etc. The best part is that the sales go towards the SPCA, so you can feel good about helping animals while finding something for cheap. They even had a back room with some pet furniture too! Prices were pretty cheap too! There were some things that were being charged more than what they're worth, but that's always the case at a second hand store. The majority was a great deal which is what matters the most. Staff was friendly and made up entirely of volunteers. They were happy to talk to us whenever we had questions about an item, but otherwise were pretty hands off in terms of letting us shop, which I appreciated. It's not the best thrift store I've ever been to, but it's far from the worst too. Check them out if you've got time, it's easy to get in and out of quickly too.
