We finally found our home sweet home for our 2 labradors, Chuck and Luke. Bit of a drive from the northern side of Roseville, but totally worth it. Neutering/spaying services - we searched the highest peaks and lowest ravines to find an affordable and competent Vet clinic that isn't out to take advantage of Roseville locals for huge profits. We filled out forms to be put on the waitlist and it did take some time to hear back, but the wait was totally worth it. Cheapest price, by far, and no complications post surgery. Vaccine services - most affordable vaccines in Roseville, hands down, with a comprehensive list of services and vaccines available on their Vet Clinic site. Process is simple. Go on their Placer SPCA website, find the service you're looking for, fill out the necessary forms, and simply be patient until they contact you. Service is incredible, staff is very compassionate and loves animals more than humans (precisely what you want) although they are kind to all walking and rolling creatures, and most importantly their prices are fair and the most affordable near and around the Roseville area. Parking can get rough as they're in the middle of a residential area, so get there early. Sacramento SPCA is great too but it's a bit of a drive for Roseville folks. We're so ecstatic that we finally have a Vet clinic to call home for our extended family, Chuck and Luke! Unless something drastic changes, we'll be going to Placer SPCA's Vet Clinic for all matters related to our furry kids.

I had such a negative experience with Dr. Priest that I felt this review was necessary for other cat owners. Dr. Priest worsened our difficult decision to put our very sick cat out of its misery after weeks of treatment with her. My husband and I are both educated from UC Davis and had the opportunity to visit compassionate hospitals in both the Bay Area (San Ramon Vet Hospital) and Davis throughout our lives as students and full-time workers with pets. We know good Veterinarians exist. Dr. Priest needs more training, or she should retire from practice. Dr. Priest was cold and harshly judgmental as to how we chose to handle medical treatment; deaf to our explanations of its suffering and sudden weight loss; and stuck on more medical tests/treatment. After our initial request to have our cat put down, she asked for more blood work and evaluations. Tormented that we were not doing our best, we agreed to her recommendation for bloodwork (came back negative for any issue) and injections. We knew our cat, which we rescued as an adult and enjoyed for 13 years, but our request was completely rejected. Dr. Priestly justified her recommendation for more treatment with "she's not ancient! I have 20+ year old cats!" REALLY?!? I left with a bill of approximately $800 in office visits, blood work, exams, and liquid medicine because our cat was so thin and didn't eat. After a week or so, our beloved cat was worse with the development of lumps around her neck and back legs. (We believe she was developing cysts or some weird reaction to the treatment.) We then decided to take our cat to a different Vet. In our cat's last appointment with Dr. Priest, the cat was hardly moving and weakened. Dr. Priest lifted our sick cat out of her carrier BY HER NECK which I later read was "scruffing." I was shocked but it happened too quickly for me to reach out. *I had to Google whether scruffing was an acceptable practice for Veterinarians, and I don't believe it is. My cat was limp and her face looked terrible -- we NEVER lifted her or picked her up in that way. We will not return to Cats Only as long as Dr. Priest continues to practice there.

This clinic has so many posted signs on the door & inside about what you can, should, or must do that it makes your head spin. If you like all the signs, this place is for you. If you are over 10 minutes late, you will be rescheduled although I arrived early & waited 30 minutes to get into an exam room. You will receive a charge for being late. What about my time? The clinic staff showed me how to give my turtle medicine. I watched them try to force her shell open with a metal instrument. It is much easier to hold a turtle's leg once they open their shell--then they show their head & meds can be given. If they had asked, instead of assuming, I could have told them I did not need their "help" to give medicine. I have had my turtle for 31 years & given meds before. This is not a clinic I would recommend based on my experience.

My story is about a cat who was dumped at a warehouse. FKCHS trapped the cat and provided needed medical care and placed the cat in foster care. When the cat was ready he was put up for adoption. That is where I met him. He is the sweetest little guy and is between 6-8 months old. I have had him 1 week and couldn't imagine life without him. This is just one story. There are so many more like this. The volunteers and staff are dedicated to providing the best for each cat in their care.

We visited the Folsom PetSmart genuinely intending to adopt a cat from Fat Kitty City Humane Society in El Dorado Hills. We dealt with Katrina Nopel, who presented herself as very familiar with the cats and their personalities. We explained that we were looking for a younger cat, roughly six months to a year or somewhat older. Katrina repeatedly directed us toward two very young kittens that we were not interested in. When we instead became interested in an older orange cat, Katrina described the cat as "skittish" and decided the cat would not be a good fit for our family. What concerned me is that Katrina barely knew us and had not meaningfully asked what temperament we actually wanted. What if a shy, cautious or independent cat is exactly what we were looking for? Not everyone wants an extremely active kitten. We interacted with the orange cat for approximately ten minutes. The cat approached my husband, played with him and was very friendly with him. We specifically said we understood that the cat could generally be skittish and still wanted to adopt her. Katrina nevertheless refused to allow us to proceed with that cat because she determined the cat wasn't right for us. When I called afterward to question the decision, I was then given a different reason: the cat needed to be adopted with its sibling. Katrina acknowledged to me that the cats were not a bonded pair, and they had not been presented or advertised to us as a required pair. She told me that adopting cats in pairs was something she planned to discuss at an upcoming organizational meeting. This experience left me genuinely concerned about Fat Kitty City's adoption process. A rescue representative should absolutely educate prospective adopters about a cat's personality and decline placements when there is a legitimate welfare concern. But I do not believe a representative should decide what personality an adopter should want without first learning what that adopter is actually looking for. I have formally raised this matter with Fat Kitty City leadership. The organization acknowledged my complaint and stated that it is reviewing what occurred. I will update this review when I receive the results of that review. My concern is ultimately for the cats--particularly older, shy or less outgoing cats that may already have fewer opportunities to find permanent homes. I sincerely hope Fat Kitty City reviews how these placement decisions are being made.

After reading about the low cost Spay Day in the newspaper (I thought awesome, daughter has no job remember), so we called this wonderful organization and they offered vouchers for spaying/neutering. After answering some questions and providing proof of unemployment; they sent the voucher by mail the very next day. Along with a list of vets.
