I've been to three of their locations (Roseville/Blue Oaks, Folsom, and Roseville/Pleasant Oaks) and the staff at all of them are really nice and helpful! Our dog is a picky eater, but they let us try and new dog food with the comfort of returning it if our dog didn't like it (which of course he didn't and he threw it up). The return of it was easy, I did have the receipt so it was a super quick and easy return. I think they let me have a sample of some other dog food before too. Other times, I've gone in needing help with medicine, itchy skin problems, shampoo and conditioners....they have it all and they were super helpful. I absolutely LOVE Ben's Barketplace. I get just as excited as my fur baby, Boba coming in here! In my most recent profile photo update, I just became a new fur mama! I have the most sweetest, playful F1B Goldendoodle. I love my lil guy so much and they're only with you a short amount of your life, so why not only give them the best?! Being a new fur mama, I walked into this place pretty clueless. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to give my Boba only high quality, healthy food specific for his needs. I've been here 3 times already after only having my Boba home for 4 weeks. There are several locations but I've only been to the Pleasant Grove one. Everytime I'm greeted by the same people. I believe she may be the owner and her son? I'm terrible, they're super kind and I never got their names. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the products they carry. She asked me the breed and age. Took the time explaining everything to me and why I should and shouldn't give certain foods. I mean she was a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate her taking the time to share it with me. I'm the end it came down to 3 kinds of foods I wanted to try out. She was so sweeet and even gave me samples of the food to bring home to Boba and see which one he likes best. Today was my first time bringing Boba in. Unfortunately, our 6 year old husky was just diagnosed with cancer and I was hoping to find some homeopathic supplements. I have always tried to shop locally versus shopping with the big online giants like Amazon . When this location opened up on Blue Oaks, I was excited to see they carry Zignature brand . The only problem was they had all of the formulas , but the one my dog eats which is Goat . The gal said not a problem , they can order it for me and call me when it gets in and I can pick it up . I have done this more than 4 times with zero problems . I usually order a 25 lb bag or 2-12 lb bags . I have also never let it sit at their location when it arrives . They call me , and I go pick it up . Last order I placed for a 25 lb bag was in August . My dog is 11 lbs . He doesn't eat a lot . So I called them recently to order . She said not a problem and they would call me when it's in . Then I get a call back and they tell me they can't do this and that I need to come in and pay for the bag before they can place the order . Mind you, the first time I had ordered , I paid for it and it took over 30 days to get the food I had paid for. I honestly think they didn't order it and forgot about it . But I had to go on Amazon and order a bag to keep me over while I waited . I let them know that was really unfortunate to wait that long when I paid for the food . They said not a problem when I ordered the next time they would call me when it's in and I'll pick it up and pay for it . I've done it like that 3 times since . So now , I'm placed on hold for Nikki the manager to come talk to me . She told me they can't do what they have been doing and I need to come in and pay . I told her this is not what you have been doing and she said they have been left with product before so they can't do it . But I've never left product there and have been repeatedly ordering . She didn't care at all to even come up with a solution and retain a customer . She was dismissive and rude . And the gal when I told her , this is why people go to Amazon because their portal and customer service is rapid and easy to use . She said - sorry you feel that way , have a good day . And I told her , no , it's not feelings , it's facts . This is why Amazon shuts down small businesses because they are easier to do business with and faster and def not rude . I don't mind paying up front on a secure server like Amazon when I know the product is guaranteed in less than 48 hours and doesn't take a month or so after I paid . I also referred two friends there for the signature line and they said they just switched over to Amazon because it was easier and quicker . That's too bad. I wish they would have cared more about customer retention than policy . Update 10/28/24 5:44 pm after owners response - I just love when businesses refuse to take responsibility for their actions or employees behavior. I can pull up all 4 orders I have placed . And no. It was not a week later that I came to get it this last recent order. I also ordered multiple times besides just these two times . And I never mentioned in my post that my friends ordered the goat formula, I said they ordered from the zignature line , so don't try to discredit my review like you're trying to do with your excuses . Just because you try to say this is how it went down , isn't how it went down . How about you focus on how to take care of customers instead of making excuses ? I am not a fan of the one on blue oaks but when I went to search for some raw food for my cat who has urine crystals. The guy was very friendly and helped me look for some raw food options. He showed me the packet they have of their prices and even talked to me about a new product that may show up. I ended up returning the food as the cat didn't like it but took home some new brand to try. Hopefully the next return will be okay if need be. They have all the great brands. The last bag of hill's prescription dog food I opened she started throwing up and had a lot of blood in her stool. Then she quit eating it. Casey knows what he's talking about and knew what I was going through seeing all this mess on Facebook about dog food. He helped me pick out raw dog food that I have been trying to figure out for a month. He was very patient, did not make me feel rushed and was amazing with his knowledge. This is a great pet shop! I took my malamute here to use the Self Wash. I wish they stayed open later in the evening. The self wash cost $15 and includes the soaps and dryer. However, it does not include towels for drying so plan accordingly. read more

He listened intently to what I was looking for and gave me a tour of the store highlighting items that may be of interest to me. When he had a better idea of what my needs were, he ran around grabbing different items and brought them to me to look at. He took his time to talk about the different ingredients. BEWARE! I've been a frequent customer and appreciate small business owners and want to support them. I went into this store on 1/15/2021 and the person working refused to put on a mask. They said it was optional for them to wear a mask and for customers to wear masks. With the rampant spread of Covid-19 in our community I would think that they would want to protect their customers. I see that other people here have also been upset with the lack of Covid-19 precautions and have stated the Placer County guidelines, which this establishment has refuted as legally required. I will not attempt the same. In fact, I did not initially notice the lack of mask wearing by employees, groomers, and other customers in the store on my last visit. It was not until I was in the aisles, shopping for my cat food that I heard another customer (not wearing a mask) make a comment about no mask requirement in the store. Why is this important? One of the employees began engaging in conversation on how absurd mask wearing is in the first place and made me, a mask wearing customer, feel ostracized and extremely uncomfortable. All before I spent nearly $70 on products at the store. I am not just some one-time shopper here and I am sad to be turned off by the employee's lack of sensitivity to those of us who choose to wear a mask. To the Shop: If you don't want to wear masks or adhere to the Placer County Covid-19 mask requirements, that is your personal choice. Some of your customers might not shop with you because of that, I would have continued to shop. However, singling out your mask wearing customers who chose to follow the guidelines as ridiculous has made it impossible for me to support your business at this time. My advise, do what you want with the guidelines but don't have your employees talk down about wearing masks and treat your customers poorly because they choose to comply with healthcare guidelines. You don't want to discriminate against non-mask wearing customers but it's ok to discriminate against mask wearing customers? In general, I really like this store. Given the specialty food I buy, it is reasonable and well stocked. However, the last box of frozen raw food I purchased was off. I think it had partially defrosted at some point and leaked. I drive pretty far to get here so to bring it back would have been a pain, plus we were out of dog food. Anyways, the food had a funny smell to it. I am a little disappointed that this box was still sold in their store. Otherwise, the service here is usually pretty good. One last thing, while I was shopping here last time my husband observed someone from the store handling a dog quite rough outside in the parking lot. I did not personally observe it and don't want to assume anything, but it left a bad taste in our mouth. Our Goldendoodle is pretty picky and so are we on what we feed her. This place has everything we need for our 3rd child - lol We buy the Stellas frozen raw dinner patties (I change up the meat types each visit), the Stellas freeze dried dinner patties (mix frozen/dry), the Papa Kitala healthy snack treats, and for bed time, the indigenous dental health bones. I also bring our pooch with me as the owner always gives her a treat (when I am not watching - lol). We're always treated well at Ben's and our pooch is healthy and very active. Cheers! read more

I stopped in to pick up a bag of our regular brand for my pup. As she would soon be turning a year, I asked what changes I should make to the food we give her. IAN took the time not only to give me suggestions of changing from puppy to adult food, but he took the time to ask questions about our feeding routine and habits, gave suggestions on introducing different meats, adding additional protein and probiotics. Getting a new puppy and wanted to find a place that sold premium, natural food. Stopped here yesterday, opened the door to walk in, saw 8-10 people, NOT ONE person wearing a mask - including the staff member who greeted me. I was stunned. Even at Home Depot everyone wears a mask. For a business owner to jeopardize the health and safety of their customers due to either mild discomfort or some inexplicable political reason is unforgivable. What's worse is this is a high-end, "luxury" pet supply store, not a gun shop. For a business owner of this type of business to be this careless is jaw-dropping. I immediately turned around and left. Good place with great selection of products but two issues with the store. First and foremost is the fact that you have to be a detective to find pricing on most of the items there, especially bag food. Marketing and sales 101 you can't sell anything if there isn't a price. Owners- why do you not price your items? To get pricing on bagged dog food you need to push the food back on the shelf to see a few stickers, but even so there may be 6 varietals and only 4 sticker prices. Secondly- its always damn hot in there other than the fridge section. ***updated review**** I have been back since original review, and yes NOW they do have pricing on sheets hanging from the shelves. Maybe they took notice to my review. However prior there were no sheets of pricing, there sometimes were tags under the bags of food on the corner of the shelve in which you needed to push the bags of food to even see the price. But they had the bags of food mixed with different flavors and so you had to find the right tag to see what it costs IF there was a tag. Kudos to owner for heeding suggestions.
