He is a recent rescue in our lives with a traumatic past and Maddy was very understanding. Even though the hair cut did not work out, she was so kind and taught us how to do it at home where he would be more comfortable with us. We were able to successfully do it at home! I'm not really sure what the smell was exactly, but we got used to it pretty quickly. We were greeted by a very nice gentleman with vibrant green hair who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He let me know some of the items I would need and which products were the best. We walked around a bit and checked out all of the critters - from snakes, to different types of lizards, to scorpions, tarantulas and even cockroaches! My daughter settled on a very cute 3-4 month old Bearded Dragon that we took home along with some essentials like a rock cave, fake plant, water and food dishes and even some Mealworms and Silkworms! The Serpentarium offers lots of different meal options for your critters as well - which is nice to know that it is a one stop shop! They carry the best brands for all of your tank needs as well. We were helped by another employee once it was time to check out and she was also very friendly and knowledgeable. The Serpentarium staff made me feel very comfortable with my purchase and answered all of my annoying questions with ease which I really appreciated. The Serpentarium will also take any surrendered reptiles as long as it is during operating hours which is nice to know that people have an option if they have no other choice. While several others were brought out that we could interact with and or hold. I liked that the larger birds were primarily hand raised, which traditionally makes them more social and pet friendly. Definitely something we were looking for, as far as temperaments, for birds. That we'd like to have out of the cage, and that were be socialized with by the family. It was a little light on the amount of birds at the time of our visit, to which one of the store reps noted to come back between March-May. As that's when a lot of breeders would be stopping in with baby birds. So there will be a larger selection coming in within the next couple of months. There was a lot a large variety of bird accessories and food options, from the mixed feed time that you could by custom quantities of. To the pre-packed treats and birds see, that came in a various sizes. Overall: Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the birds we inquired about. Told of the "pros & cons" of different breeds. And which ones would be the selection for the temperament of the birds and or the homes they'd need to go to.

If your bird needs a feather trim, beak trim or nail trim they offer them! They were very gentle with a sweet bird we witnessed wrapped carefully in a towel getting a nail trim! During the call, however, I could hear a dog crying or barking loudly in the background, and the gentleman yelled at the dog "SHUT UP" while still on the phone with me. That moment didn't sit well with me. As a pet owner, it made me pause and reconsider whether this would be the right environment for my dog. My roommate left his Cory fish behind, and he seemed so lonely. I just wanted to make sure he found a good home with friends. I was honestly a crying mess, but Marisol was so comforting and reassuring. She took the time to explain everything and made me feel confident that my Cory fish would be happy here with other fish and he truly was. Seeing him settle in and look so happy meant everything to me. I also really appreciate that they allow you to surrender fish here. If you're ever in a situation where you can't afford to care for a fish anymore, or for any reason you're unable to keep him, you can bring him here knowing he'll be cared for properly and placed with other fish. Marisol's compassion and genuine love for animals (and people) truly stood out. You can tell she has such a big heart and really cares about what she does. I'm so grateful for her kindness during a tough moment. Also the facility was so clean! All the fish looked so happy! Such a great environment!! Thank you all!!!
