Because of Yelp, I found P. Macs'. To be honest, I felt magnetically drawn to this bar. After a magnificent meal a few blocks away, we made the trek to P. Mac's, and hell it was so worth it! Every element of the bar seemed to get increasingly cooler as the night went on. As soon as we walked in, Queens of the Stone Age were blasting on the speakers. I knew off the bat, I was meant to be here, as they are one of my favorite bands and it completely made sense that they were playing at a bar of this caliber. Since the city Dublin was experiencing their worst snowstorm in 35 years, unfortunately their beer deliveries to didn't arrive; meaning tons of beer wasn't available. However, the draft selection was stellar, and even though I didn't get the full experience, I appreciate the taplist they keep on hand. Bartenders were friendly and timely for a packed bar. And I mean slammed! The cool thing about bars overseas is that they truly encourage you to sit close to one another and meet the folks around you. P. Mac's embraces this philosophy in a warm, cozy environment. All the chairs are unique and if you're lucky you'll find a sofa chair. As others have written, there are candles EVERYWHERE. I'm surprised it wasn't a freakin' fire hazard, but the Irish like to live on the wild side. The night was already amazing to begin with, but then I ran into a massive Eagles of Deat Metal mural toward the back of the bar. P. Mac's, you know me better than I know myself. Damn, you're cool!

Nice chill pub! I would recommend! Decided to go here instead of Harry Lemon and wasn't disappointed. (:

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 The absolute BEST restaurant in Dublin! Went here twice during our stay. It also makes a great pub for evening and at night. Food: The best food in Dublin. I ordered a steak rib sub and the meat just fell off the bone. It was amazing. The wings were amazing, and the selection of craft beer is superb. Decor: This place looks like it was modeled after a church and those rooms in the back look like confession rooms. See the pictures! This is a must place to go when in Dublin and I recommend this place to all who visit the city.

We saved P.Mac's for our last night in Dublin. Gastropubs with hipster influences seemed to be the genre we frequented most while traveling abroad, and P.Mac's was just A-OK for me. I was surprised that there weren't any 2 seater tables, almost all were at least 4, which meant a lot of couples had to share with strangers as the place got more crowded. I don't mind sharing, but it's definitely not necessarily a good spot for a date night. The beers here seemed to be on the more expensive side. I was surprised that most were almost 7 Euro and a Raging Bitch was damn near 9! I guess we're just spoiled by living less than an hour away from Flying Dog back home, but golly! Also, there is no cocktail menu and the only liquor they carry is gin. I happen to love gin, so I ordered a gin and tonic. The gin itself was 7 Euro and the tonic was almost 4.... golly again! The food was okay. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken sandwich was crispy and juicy; however, the greens and cabbage on the sandwich were very bitter. The mushroom chips were probably my favorite part of our visit. They were hot and crispy and the grated parmesan on top made them even more tasty. Overall, P.Mac's was okay and our server was really sweet and gave great drink and food recommendations. However, I think this gastropub is slightly overrated.

We came here twice while in Dublin and this was definitely one of our favorite bars. It has a very cool gastropub ambiance with these gothic style red candles lighting the place up. They also had a bunch of board games to play while you waited for your food or enjoyed your beer. We ordered the White Gypsy beer which was quite refreshing to wash down the Halloumi Fries and Ribs. Both dishes we got were delicious. If you're in Dublin near Temple Bar area stop in here!

I came here with my wife for a few beers and pub food. The beer selection is top notch with ~25 draft beers from the US and Europe. My wife had a Lagunitas IPA and I tried an IPA made for P. Macs from Trouble Brewing. My wife had the chicken sandwich and I had the chicken wings. Both were good but not great. I would go back for the beer selection and the ambience is extremely cool with the red candles.

Fries, mushroom gnocchi & buffalo chicken wings

P.Mac's is a super cool place for dinner and/or drinks! The ambience is unique, the decor stands out (including the candlesticks), and they have plenty of games! It took a while for a waitress to come and take our order. We sat for about 5-10 minutes without anyone coming to us. I went to the bar & asked if we order food with them, but the bartender said he will send someone to our table. Within a few minutes, our waitress appeared. We ordered the buffalo chicken wings, mushroom gnocchi (so good!), and fries. Our food arrived shortly after, and tasted delicious! Other than the wait, the other hassle was parking. Parking was difficult to find, as it's in Dublin & there was major construction nearby.

    The garlic fries!!!

Garlic fries. Garlic fries. Garlic fries. That's all you need to know. But really, the vibe of this place is just so cool. It's dim, there's tons of candles burning everywhere, and there's board games! We came for dinner and we're so glad we did. We sat in a little back room with a huge table, some couches, and a giant screen with a 90's Jennifer Aniston movie playing. There was so much quirky character, I could barely take it! And the food. O. M. G. The garlic fries were one of the best things we ate in Dublin. We also got a mushroom dish & crispy polenta bites, both of which were amazing. And both of our servers were so very sweet which made the experience perfect. Go to P. Mac's!

The evil falafel plate that I vomited 10 hours later
    Diandra R.

This is the only thing you need to know - get the fries with garlic aioli. If you're really hungry then get the chicken sandwich or the burger or whatever with it, but the fries will be the best part. We also got the falafel plate which I promptly threw up the next morning after waking up at 4am feeling nauseated. (Not due to alcohol because I don't drink) I have guts of steel and pretty much never get sick from food vs the boyfriend who has had numerous episodes of food-related bathroom episodes. I will probably never get falafels from anywhere for the rest of my existence. Aside from the food, this place is pretty loud and crowded. You seat yourself and desperately try to flag a waiter to get some menus. Then after you've had some time to peruse said menu, you once again try to put on your "please help me" face to get some assistance in ordering said food (STAY AWAY FROM FALAFEL PLATE). However, once you order, the food comes out pretty quickly. Don't wait around for a waiter to ask for the check though, because honestly, 3 times of trying to look like a helpless child who's just trying to throw some money at you for a decent meal is just 3 times too many. So just eat your food and walk out. They're too busy to notice anyway. Just kidding. Go to the bar and let them know where you were sitting and they can pull up your check. But seriously if I had known I was just gonna vomit up that food in 10 hours....

Cute private areas to chill and drink a beer. Love the atmosphere. We had the burger- I wouldn't recommend, as it was "trying too hard".. It was dry and it just had too much going on. The sweet potato fries were to die for, yummy chipotle sauce!! Then we had the fish tacos- a definite "yes" - perfectly cooked and delicious taste! Service was good, a bit slow, but it was nice they weren't pushy, just let us be. :)

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.
