Stopped in for one drink after dinner. Place was hopping as I think it is most weekends. I was delighted to find they were serving Lindemans Framboise - it's rare enough in Dublin itself but they have it on tap! Brilliant :) Yes it is a little dark and quite hipstery but so what? P Mac's is a nice place. Its very dark in here but not in a Dracula's living room sort of way. Maybe in a middle aged man, who slicks back his hair, wears a three piece suit and dons a bow tie kinda way! The candle sticks look as if they fell fresh out of the pages of a Sherlock Holmes novel and would'nt look out of place perched on the mantlepiece in 221b baker street. Thats the kind of cool that this place oozes... Although its dark inside, the people who run this place are definitely full of bright ideas because the food being brought out to people looks fantastic. The Lagunitas IPA also looks fantastic might I add. They also have an array of board games. When I was a child I must admit I was probably given most of these as christmas presents and thought at the time that they should have been called bored games. But when you add some beer into the mix it can be a very relaxing way to kill a few hours here at P Mac's and reminisce over the thought that your parents were actually cooler than you gave them credit for at the time! It can get quite busy here and sometimes you may have to share a table. Word to the wise do not play Jenga if you happen to be a table sharer, unless the other table sharers are inquisitive foreign tourists and desperately want to know what the Irish Banking system collapse looked like! read more

Another Dublin gem. On a side street, very central but not on the main drinking trail, this place still attracts a huge clientele, especially on the weekend, and it's not hard to see why! Good selection of beers, very cosy feel, kind of like an old library but pumping out great music and just a lovely vibe all round. With tables you can sit around and have a great chat with your mates, probably while mesmerised by the melty old school candelabras giving your table some great mood lighting. I've been coming to Valley Tavern for 3 years now as it's all you can ask for in a pub with TVs, a jukebox and an outdoor patio. It's a great spot to catch a Warriors game or just grab drinks with friends. Never been a huge Bloody Mary fan, but after watching the bartender make a few here I had to try one and... wow. They're legit. The Spicy Mule also gets the job done. Tons of beer on tap, which just adds to the appeal. Head to the back deck and you can kill a whole day before you even realize it. read more

I went here recently for a post wedding drinks celebration and I was so impressed. The platters of food were amazing, so tastey! The staff were run off their feet, which shows you how popular the place is, but they were still friendly (which I really appreciate, knowing how busy they are!) They have a huge selection of really nice craft beers, definitely a place to go if Craft Beer is your thing. I also loved the fact that they have board games in there. Definitely a spot I plan to frequent, we just happened upon it on a Sunday afternoon. Old style furniture with plenty space and even a few snug's ( enclosed seating areas ) for those who wish not to be disturbed ! It has a nice selection of craft beers, I ended up going with a lovely bottle of german pils after a very helpful barman recommended it when I told him what type beers I like. Great music playing the whole time we were in there, a few board games which were free to use were a nice touch and the staff came around with free packs of crisps, the nostalgia of eating wheelies was a hit straight in the feels ! I am giving it five stars as not many new pubs really impress me in the city center as of late, but the combination of a laid back atmosphere, down to earth staff and nice range of craft beers was really refreshing, that's a difficult trifecta to find in any city ! read more

Really, really, really liked this bar in the heart of Dublin - a proper old fashioned boozer in style, with eclectic furniture and stylings thrown in around the place for good measure. The craft beer selection was one of the best I've seen around and the bar staff were really knowledgable about their products, I enjoyed a good chat with the barman about the Nogne beers they had on sale. The music was really good and the low level lighting at 6pm when we hit made me think it was my sort of place. It was rammed in here with it being Web Summit but this was all good as there was plenty of bar space to get your order in. Bookmarking this place for my next visit to DUB. read more

P-Macs is probably my favorite bar in Dublin now. Basically I like a few things in a bar. Decent music ( check ), Decent Beer ( Check ) and a nice interior which isn't like every other bar. The choice of craft beers is quite extensive and they serve Aspals cider my favorite drink in the world. The two things that make this stand out for me are the sheer amount of tables to sit at, this is a comfy place to have a few drinks in. There are even a number of Snugs which is always good. I'm 40 now and my days of standing around are over I love the fact there are sofas, chairs small tables big tables and snugs all in the same place. Add to this the candles on almost every table its great. Secondly I seriously haven't heard a song I didnt like being played here. It could be my ipod playing behind the bar. Finally if you are around for a couple of drinks the staff will bring out crisps for you nosh on. A packet of meanies? Yes please thank you very much. Great bar, love it. read more

I don't know what my favorite part about this place is, the unique/ hipster vibe about the place, the fact you can choose from a selection of board games from your youth to play as you enjoy a few beverages, the comfy and over sized couches to lounge on as you sip on one a many craft beers from their amazing selection (in draft and bottles) or the fact they pass out crisps and sweets that remind you of the 10p candies you got as a kid. What I do know is that it is one of the best customer service experiences I've ever encountered and their beer selection is complete class. I secured a spot at the bar and accompanied my book with a pint of White Gypsy Ruby, a glass of caramel like sweetness with light hops, and a toffee-roasted finish; it is the Guinness of Amber Ales. This is a place suitable for all occasions--perfect ambiance for a date, great seating for solo adventures, and a myriad of beers for you and your buddies to choose! We happened upon P Mac's after leaving the Long Hall on a Sunday evening. The interior has kind of a strange feel, as if it was an old Irish pub at one point but got bought out by a new owner. The tables are all bedecked with candelabras topped by red candles dripping wax. There are other strange decorations around the bar that are, I suppose, to give it a hipstery feel. Apart from that, though, it's your standard bar drinks and gastropub food i.e. bar standards with some strange modifications. Overall, the food is good. My burger, topped with bacon jam, onion rings, rocket and a strange mustard mayo, was quite good. My partner ordered chili, which was a strange chili with avocado, pico de Gallo, and rice in a baked tortilla bowl. That one might be a miss. I'd recommend the more standard bar fare, such as the burger. Price was high (€16 for that burger) but I guess that's standard for Dublin. read more

Have grabbed lunch at P.Mac's a couple of times as it's very close to where I work. Each time I've gone for the fish tacos and soup option, which for €9 is great value. The fish is lightly battered and has been really nicely cooked each time I've had it, it's served in two small tortillas with a nice fresh salsa, lime and guacamole, with a great garlic mayo on the side. It's a great lunch option and the soups I've had to accompany this have been really flavoursome, fresh and filling. Service can be a little on the slow side which can be irksome when you're restricted for time by a set lunch hour, but all in all it's a great little spot for a casual bite to eat. read more

Very likely my new favorite pub in Dublin. This feeling is actually bittersweet, because what I think I like about this place is that it has the feel of an American craft beer bar. Is that wrong? I was actually staying at the adjoining Drury Court Hotel, and I was looking for a place for dinner and a few pints. Excellent range of hard to-get-craft beers at reasonable prices, which is a welcome departure from most other pubs in the city. Very darkly lit, however the candles at each table provide a wonderful ambience. Did I mention the beer? I sat at the bar and ordered two beers: The All Day IPA by Founders (my favorite brewery) and the Vietnow IPA, which I was told was brewed especially for P. Mac's by Trouble Brewing. Both were excellent, and the latter is probably the best craft beer I've had on this side of the Atlantic. Well done, guys! Service was equally as impressive. The barmen kept checking in on me and provided me with several tastings. I ordered their burger special of the night. It was a bacon wrapped and bacon stuffed burger, and there was also bacon in the chips that was served alongside. Great recommendation, but can you ever go wrong with bacon? Whenever I am in Dublin next, I WILL be back to P. Mac's. read more

Love this bar! The lighting gives it such an attractive ambiance. It reminds me of New Orleans. Check out the various lamp shading and candle light. Also lots of tables for small groups and there's a cool private room with sofas in the back of the main bar area. Fabulous spot for a get together! Love this place! Rumor on the street is that its by the same people who brought us Cassidy's over on Westmoreland Street...another solid hangout. I love the dark, Victorian decor with a modern, funky twist. Loads of beers on tap, as some of the other reviewer have discussed, but my favourite part about this place are the booths. Perhaps 'booth' isn't the best word for what they are...maybe cubbies? Picture an old swinging, saloon door from an American Western and behind that door is a small area with six or so mismatched chairs and a table. Suddenly, you're in the privacy of your group of friends, but still have the pub music and chaos pumping in. I'd say they have about six or seven of these cutesy hide-aways, which makes it an ideal location for a long night of catchups and pints with old friends. Really loved this pub during our visit to Dublin. Nice atmosphere, large space, ample seating (although don't expect that on a weekend evening), nice decor (loved the legit candelabras) and extremely friendly staff. Although I didn't get to try their food menu, everything on it looked really good, especially for those who have already maxed out on their 'traditional Irish food' quota. I did get to try their Kinder Bueno spring roll dessert. Absolute heaven. They have a great beer selection if you want something more than Guinness but they of course stock Guinness and other stouts. Be aware that this place will be packed during the evenings with locals and tourists alike, but if you can get a table, it's well worth a stay. I will definitely be back to P.Macs whenever I am in Dublin. read more

My first visit here but very likely not my last. I simply love these different styles of decoration they have - this mix of furniture seemingly collected from hundreds of flea markets. They have some craft beer - so that's of course another plus. I had the sandwich of the day which was salmon on brown bread with salad. Very tasty and at €5.40 (IIRC) definitely well worth it. We were a group of about 15 people and after the initial surprise second they were very good adapting to our invasion and enjoyed it as much as we did your visit. read more
