Chicken fried steak was amazing! My kids got eggs, bacon, waffles, biscuit and gravy. They said all of it was good!

Showed up about 35 minutes to closing(hate doing that), after riding all day on the motorcycle with 5 of my friends. One of the specials was a fried pork fritter, with a couple of sides. I inquired if it was hand made. The waitress was honest, and said it came from Swan foods. She then told us they hand make the chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. When I asked which one was better? She mentioned the chicken fried steak was the pick. WOW! Probably the best chicken fried steak(a treat for me) that I've ever had. They were nervous when we arrived and relieved when we left. We came in kindly, queer, respectful, just looking for water and a moment to rest. A few of us are visibly androgynous, and maybe that made some folks uncomfortable. We get it, not everyone here is used to seeing people like us. But the shift in energy was unmistakable. Cold stares, tension, and verbal comments made it clear we weren't welcome. We tried to leave a generous tip and were met with hostility. We couldn't even finish our water before deciding to leave. Maybe it's not always like this. But for LGBTQ+ folks, especially those who are visibly gender nonconforming, this place might not feel safe or accepting. read more

We love Mountain View and are return visitors, for over 17 years. We stay at a bed and breakfast, but always look forward to our meal(s) at the Rainbow. Their hometown feel and home cooking are good, and the pies fabulous and homemade. Our server, Donna was very sweet and attentive. But the owner! Robbie, just who do you think you are, denying a customer mayo on an open faced hot roast beef sandwich? Did you take this as a criticism of your cooking skills? Because it was not. I've only eaten there once but want to go back to try their famous pies! In my experience, the service was fast and friendly, the place is a little cramped but it's comfortable, and tables turn over pretty quickly. Service was terrible! If I could give 0 stars I would! My dad was there today having some dinner, he decided to get some ozark pie with some ice cream. When he received it, it was cold and he kindly asked his waitress if she could heat up the pie for him and when it was brought back it wasn't even heated correctly but he didn't say anything and simply ate it. Later on after he finished eating the slice the owner rudely came up to him and snatched the check and asked him to leave and to not come back. I was appalled to hear that he was spoken to so rudely! PJ's is your classic small town diner setup. We came in shortly before the end of pancake/French toast period (11am I think?) and were able to still order a sumptous breakfast feast. The French toast was decent and the breakfast plates were good. I wanna try more stuff on the menu, though. I'm subtracting a star for their use of fake butter (hydrogenated soybean oil from Sysco), for it is a desecration and an abomination unto the culinary realm and should be cast out. I can tolerate fake maple syrup because no one uses real maple syrup, but fake butter, come on, people. Anyway, make sure to stop in your next time in Mountain View, this is the spot. Most of the food is homemade and always very good! The prices are reasonable and the portions are great.

The wait time was good it didn't take long to get our drinks and food. It felt comfortable to sit down and it had a feeling of nostalgia. I ordered the chocolate chip waffles. The waffles itself wasn't to soft or to crunchy it was right in the middle. The peanut butter was salty paired with the sweetness of the chocolate chips if was perfect. 5/5 stars would eat here again and I recommend people eat here. read more

My daughter, wife, and I came here to eat a few weeks ago. Food was great (both did chicken fried chicken). The pie seems popular and was very delicious. The only reason I dropped a star was because a table nearby got up and left because they waited a long time without being waited on. I didn't realize until they mentioned it to the waitress as they left. It was clearly an honest mistake and the waitress was sincerely apologetic. I will gladly eat here again in a heartbeat! The food here is very good. The atmosphere is ok but the booths are crowded and most are pretty torn up. My biggest gripe is the fact that they do not accept any credit cards at all. Cash or check only. That is a problem for me in today's world. Many people don't carry much cash anymore and for a business like this to not accept cards is just silly. Well its a small town, mainstream diner in north central Arkansas. We ate here with another couple for dinner and I thinking I know this place & went for one of the daily specials. It was ok and not terrible. My fellow diners all agreed it was not terrible but also not especially great either. (the salad for example was a few pieces of ice berg lettuce and two slices of a tasteless tomato) The server was very forgetful but very pleasant about it all. Stopped in for lunch after being told by many not to miss! Atmosphere is a little sad, needs renovation, carpet appeared dirty and booths very close. Friendly staff. Food was disappointing. The vegetables were not fresh ( from cans) as were the refried beans. The o'brian potatoes were dry, obviously made in advance and warmed up. Not good at all. The fish was very good, crispy and not greasy. Liver and onions were good, well prepared. But the Mexican food, well go elsewhere. We did not try desserts, they looked good and every one was ordering. Selectively they have some good food but not all home cooking! read more

We have visited this place more than once on our way back from camping on the Buffalo River. Folks are always nice, and it has the feel of a local restaurant. Biscuits are really good and the omelettes are too. I had fried grits on the side, having never tried them. They were a bit greasy for my taste. I will stick with traditional next time.
