Myself and 12 others stayed for a week in March, when the prices are not too bad. However it can be pretty pricey in the summer / main holiday periods. We stayed in an 8 berth executive villa with hot tub and games room and 4 en-suite rooms. It was perfect for me and my friends. It also sported a great gas BBQ. The place is set in woodland and has a lot of wildlife, rabbits, birds and squirrels will follow you around all day long. The list of activities you can do is almost endless. I myself did the following activities ( I have rated each ) Archery 5* ( £16 for 45 minutes ) Golf Driving Range 4* ( £10 per hour, club hire and balls basically ) Badminton 4* ( £11 for two people including gear hire ) Pool 5* ( Free ) Nature walk 4* ( Free ) Bowling 2* ( 28 per lane per hour, very noisy and low quality lanes & balls ) Canoeing 3* ( £5 per person for 30 minutes or so, quite a small lake but still fun ) Cycling 3* ( £58 to hire a bike for a week, bring your own or share ) There are a lot of food places there, we tried most of them so I have rated each. Note as the restaurants are pretty much the only thing you can do the prices are a bit higher than outside. Strada 4* - Nice Italian food and wine and good staff. Cafe Rouge 2* - Food ok but overpriced. Made 2* - poor service and average takeaway food Rajinda Pradesh 3* - Not a bad Indian at all. Hucks 2* - Noisy as hell american diner and not great food. Takeaway service 4* - The takeaway service was really good actually they provide Indian, pizza and Chinese food. Overall mainly because of the company this was my best birthday ever, a great place. However it can get crowded and there are a lot of kids so if you don't like kids I would avoid. If you have kids they will LOVE THIS PLACE!

Little hamlets and villages are scattered all around this lovely part of the English countryside…read more You can drive down narrow lanes and somehow keep coming back to where you started from or get completely lost and end up picking blackberries from roadside bushes, and bluebells in the verdant woods which some say are part of the great forest of Arden stretching all the way down in a swathe from Nottingham - perhaps you might get surprised by Robin Hood and his merry men! Be sure to pack a picnic hamper with your favourite foods so you can stop in some idyllic setting to enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty that this part of the world offers to those who are willing to explore and let their imaginations run wild. After all, this is Tolkien country where the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were written, where JRR Tolkien himself lived and was inspired to write. Shakespeare spent the latter part of his life in London but much of his inspiration came from his early days in middle England. His mother, Mary Arden, had a little cottage in Wilmcote just 3 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon so the bard may have created many of his writings while walking the leafy lanes. Nowadays Pear Tree Cottage set in 3 acres of gardens is a lovely place to stay in the heart of Wilmcote. This once B&B, now offers 2 lovely furnished flats for stays of any period. The owners, Philip and his charming lady, Janice, take care of you and your needs in a most caring way, and you will arrive to find the kitchen stocked with cafetiere coffee, hovis bread, good english butter, fresh milk and other groceries. You can sit in the extensive garden and enjoy twilight glasses of wine and chat to your heart's content. Just down the road a bit, is the post office cum grocery where shelves are stocked with chocolate, biscuits, wine, bread, fresh meats delivered daily and all the wonderful country foods and fruit your heart can imagine. It is only a 3minute walk to the local station where you can hop on train for a 5 minute run to Stratford any time of day or night. You can actually walk along the barge paths straight into Stratford upon Avon to shop and eat and see live Shakespeare at its best. Nearby Birmingham is a must for serious shoppers. In this the second largest city in the UK, besides a tempting array of restaurants, museums and art galleries, you can certainly 'shop till you drop!' It is a most convenient place to travel to as there is an international airport and fast trains from London will get you there easily. It is all there for you to enjoy and as I have ended my ramblings many times before, "you just have to DO IT".

Eye Kettleby Lakes are located right in the middle of the Melton Mowbray countryside and consists…read moreof 12 fully equipped cabins each with a private hot tub surrounded by many lakes ideal for fishing. My boyfriend (now husband) surprised me with a trip to these cabins for my Birthday one year. Each Christmas I would talk excitedly at how great it would be to spend one Christmas hidden away (hopefully snowed in) in a little log cabin somewhere miles away from anywhere. Living in Britain you're pretty limited for anything that might even come close but my husband found this hidden gem. Unfortunately they were booked up for Christmas (booo) but as my Birthday falls just 6 days before he managed to book us in for the whole weekend before Christmas. 3 nights cost (I believe) around £500 which is quite steep but most of the cabins all fit at least 4 people so if you go with others you can split the cost. The location is very private. I lived in the area about 5 years before our visit and honestly did not know they existed! We stayed in one of the Hawthorn cabins which have one double bedroom with en suite and another bedroom with 2 single beds. It had an additional bathroom in the hallway with large bath tub and shower, a fairly small kitchen and a large living area with 2 sofas a very small TV and a (6 seater) dining table. As it was Christmas the cabin was also lightly decorated with a small Christmas tree inside and silver hanging lights all around the cabin outside which was a really nice touch. The hot tub is also located outside and although is classed as 'private' the fence surrounding it is only about 3 feet tall so getting in and out other people can easily see you but saying that was a lovely place to relax with a glass of wine in the chilly evenings. Soft white robes are also supplied so you don't have to take your own. We had a lovely relaxing weekend here spending the evening watching DVD's and sipping wine in front of the fire. Be warned though - signal here is terrible so we had no choice but to venture out to the local shops to buy DVD's as the TV was almost un-watchable. They have a cabin at the main entrance also where they serve breakfast daily where you can get a full cooked breakfast or just a Bacon Cob if you prefer something a little lighter. Sunday lunch is also served but requires booking. We booked for our Sunday lunch here and the food is served Carvery style (although only one trip up). There was a choice of 3 meats along with vegetables, gravy, potatoes and yorkshire puddings. The food quality is very good for mass produced (better than Toby Carvery) and the desserts if you still have room are really tasty. The staff here are also really friendly and the groundsman stopped and talked to us a couple of times. I don't know what it is with locals in the countryside, they're always super friendly and laid back. Must be all that fresh air! The scenery really is very pretty and well worth a walk if you can tolerate the mud, just make sure you take your wellies. Overall a really nice place to come for a relaxing time away and enjoy the countrysides lazy way of living.
