After all, this is Tolkien country where the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were written, where JRR Tolkien himself lived and was inspired to write. Shakespeare spent the latter part of his life in London but much of his inspiration came from his early days in middle England. His mother, Mary Arden, had a little cottage in Wilmcote just 3 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon so the bard may have created many of his writings while walking the leafy lanes. Nowadays Pear Tree Cottage set in 3 acres of gardens is a lovely place to stay in the heart of Wilmcote. This once B&B, now offers 2 lovely furnished flats for stays of any period. The owners, Philip and his charming lady, Janice,take care of you and your needs in a most caring way, and you will arrive to find the kitchen stocked with cafetiere coffee, hovis bread, good english butter, fresh milk and other groceries. You can sit in the extensive garden and enjoy twilight glasses of wine and chat to your heart's content. Just down the road a bit, is the post office cum grocery where shelves are stocked with chocolate, biscuits, wine, bread, fresh meats delivered daily and all the wonderful country foods and fruit your heart can imagine. It is only a 3minute walk to the local station where you can hop on train for a 5 minute run to Stratford any time of day or night. You can actually walk along the barge paths straight into Stratford upon Avon to shop and eat and see live Shakespeare at its best. Nearby Birmingham is a must for serious shoppers. In this the second largest city in the UK, besides a tempting array of restaurants, museums and art galleries, you can certainly 'shop till you drop!' It is a most convenient place to travel to as there is an international airport and fast trains from London will get you there easily. It is all there for you to enjoy and as I have ended my ramblings many times before, "you just have to DO IT".

Owners know you have no recourse and take full advantage, with TripAdvisor's blessing.  We booked a rental house for two weeks, and it was nothing like the photos. The house was in a state of complete disrepair. The c02/smoke detectors were going off / in an alarm state the entire time, the guest bathroom shower stopped working, doorknobs fell off doors daily, a sewage smell permeated the primary bathroom, doors and knobs were missing from closets, lightbulbs were burnt out, the keypad to unlock the only entry door was ancient and malfunctioning, the pool cleaner was broken (eventually it was removed entirely,  leaving the pool unclean and unusable the entire time), the washer/dryer were broken, etc. There's a much longer list of things that were going wrong. The rental was nothing like the photos and description on TripAdvisor's Holiday Lettings site. It was in terrible condition and very unclean. We immediately let the owners know about these problems (of which they were already aware, based on many years of poor reviews on other sites). The owners' reply was that we should vacate. We had already flown here, taken time off work, and prepaid for the rental entirely. No attempt or offer was made to address any issues. TripAdvisor was no help. The owners already have your money and know you have no recourse, so they make no attempt (or even pretense) to fix anything. This site is a scam.

Our house, The Old Hop Kiln was the beautiful cottage with the round tower at the end. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A nice kitchen and sitting room too. The fridge was great, with lots of room. The cooker did the job great for all the cooking down. There was plenty of quality cooking gear too. We spent a lot of time in the Saddlestones house as this house had the biggest kitchen and lounge. It was very nice too. The view was fabulous, as you can see from the pictures I added. The ducks milling about the pond was a real hghlight. Everyone commented on the same picture when I posted it to Facebook. I didn't really meet the people who run the show, but my partner who organised the whole stay said it was great dealing with them. I texted their land-line once to see if they could restart the WiFi router when they got home and they did. The free WiFI is such a bonus too. The value was the best part I think. For three nights for me and my partner it cost 120 GBP. That's 20 GBP each per night. OK, it's early in the season, but still fantastic in my opinion. Thank you Whitewells Farm Cottages.

When you move in you have to fill in an itinery of what is damaged etc and you have 48hrs to do this but as the weeks go by you notice things you didnt notice before and so you will have to pay for this if they see the damage or whatever, so i'd suggest you do a very thorough check. There are approximately 38 double rooms i believe the rest are single, I have have a double room and it is bigger than my room at home its huge, all rooms are ensuite and the flats are in block of 6, each floor has 2 or 3 flats on them. Overall the staff are helpful, but can be funny at times, also you cannot get post on a saturday as the reception is not open on a saturday.
