Favorite coffee place in Boulder. Ordering can be a little tricky as the line gets interspersed with people waiting for barista drinks. Typically 3 different coffees available on pour-over, chemx or french press. The barista will also let you smell the beans and talk about tasting notes if yer into that kind of thing. A very high 4 stars, on the cusp of the 5 and my favorite coffee shop in Boulder in terms of flavor. Ozo is their own roaster and seems to be a much more traditional coffee shop than the others on the Pearl Street Mall. I'm a little disappointed I only tried one cup, but it was the best coffee I've ever had in Boulder. Their special was a Mexican. I had it as a pour over and it was prepared perfectly. Very nice rich flavor to it. While the barista was preparing my coffee, we had a conversation and she was super nice. She even suggested the 5 star sandwich shop (Cured West) next door. 5 stars for the customer service here. They have a roaster in the city that potentially does tours and possibly samplings. We walked right by this place on the way to brunch one Sunday. On our way back towards the car we were both feeling parched and decided on a quick stop for a beverage. Ozo wins my heart over with their local coffee joint feel. You can tell this is where the locals come for coffee and that's always a great sign when walking into an unknown coffee joint. The barista was very knowledgeable about coffee and quickly struck up a pleasant conversation with us on what we were looking for. Being a former barista myself I can be pretty critical at times and I had nothing to be critical about here. He offered us the House Special, a version of a latte/cappuccino mix with espresso, steamed milk and foam. This is some strong espresso and tasted smooth and creamy, just the way espresso should be. It was just what the doctor ordered and quenched my need for a delectable beverage. We grabbed a couple seats outside and enjoyed the warm sun shining down on us while sipping our House Specials. Best mocha I've had in 2 years! As a daily mocha drinker that's saying a lot. I stopped in Ozo for and afternoon pick me up while touring Pearl Street. It was crazy busy and a little chaotic as there weren't any clear lines established to place an order. I made my way to the counter and the barista wasn't super helpful but he pointed me in the direction of the Mocha Menu where I quickly decided on a Van Halen. The only reason I am giving it a 4 is because the customer service experience wasn't great and it took about 20 min to order and receive my drink. It is by far one of the best mochas I have ever had and I'm hoping they eventually expand to other states. I will definitely be visiting Ozo daily on my next visit to Boulder! read more

Did a tasting here. Friendly and fun. We tried their Ethiopian beans via chemex, pour over, French press and an espresso shot. All were tasty, and Mutually dramatically different. They also have a huge set of options for mochas. We tried the loch Ness mocha - dark chocolate, Irish cream and mint. it was well balanced and super creamy. The only problem was how busy it was, but I won't hold that against them. ... I've been here several times now. I live in Denver, but I come up to Boulder to work sometimes for a change of scene - and Ozo is my goto spot. Their coffee is very good 5-star. They have lots of seating, but they area also popular. Traffic seems to ebb and flow. One hours there isn't a free seat, the next hour it's half empty - at least in the 9-1pm hours during the week when I'm usually there. They have a decent number of outlets. Wifi is acceptable, which is pretty good given there are usually a 2 or more dozen laptops open: 3.36/1.49megabits down/up. They do ask you buy something every 2 hours or so. They do have some non-carb options for snacks, too. My only complaint really is they are too busy - tough problem to have! read more

First time here on a cold, sunny afternoon. Ambience is nice. I ordered the Bhakti chai since they don't have the unsweetened Sherpa chai. I was surprised by the 4 oz pour of chai for what the menu stated as 8 oz. As a wine person, I can eyeball the difference in volume reasonably accurately but who knows how they measure. For almost $4+, I think they need to re-evaluate their pour volumes or, at least, prove that it's actually 8 oz. If you are looking for good espresso, a pour over brew, pastry, or some variety of whole beans, OZO has a great selection. I always tend to be drawn to shops that offer alternate brewing methods. Gives the ability to try new beans before buying. Another plus is that OZO has a good selection on home brew accessories. Being that I tend to home brew by pour over or Aeropress, I always can pick up anything needed here. Beans and consumables. Great selection on Hario products. I will say OZO is big and tends to be crowded. Sometimes it's hard for me to find a table which does drive me to frequent other shops, which I won't name in this review. But if you are looking to pick something up and take it to go this is a great place. And if you get there at the right time it is a great place to get work done. read more

Super cool place in a super cool location. Perfect addition to Boulder's busy Pearl street. Its a pretty big coffee shop with good amount of seating and super cool baristas. The Bhakti chai latte was great. I had the Matcha latte (green tea latte without sugar). It was a bit of a struggle but I knew what just I signed up for LOL. I also had a shot of Cholaca - Pure liquid unsweetened Cocoa. It was the perfect elixir that calmed the dark chocolate loving neurons in my brain.
