I was craving a calzone after my swimming workout. I decided to try this place that I used to frequent years ago. My I had a calzone with pepperoni and red onions. When I arrived I didn't act on my gut feeling. It was a bit on the light side. Sure enough the edges were hot and the vent was not. The cheese became to clump since it was never at a hot temperature. Needless to say. I am still hungry and wish not to eat a medium warm calzone. Thankful I have a hot over at my house. I have them 3 stars since the server was very nice and extremely pleasant. Oz Pizza, is located in the heart of East Point, with parking available in front and to the sides of this location. Since I have never been to Oz Pizza before, I was skeptical at first... However, a friend insisted this was their favorite pizza in-town. So, I decided to give it a try and be open-minded to trying new things-I'm certainly glad I did! Oh wow! I ordered takeout in person for their large Mack Pizza! It was one of the best crusts I ever had and one of the best pizzasI've ever eaten! It didn't take long for them to complete the order. Love my neighborhood pizza joint! ...nothing at all to do with the pizza, but Oz has to have the best outdoor seating area in metropolitan atlanta. Check out the photos and you'll see what i mean The pizza is very good overall. Their dough/crust has a great flavor, but generally speaking i have to ask for extra crispy to get the texture i want. otherwise the ingredients end up sliding off the pizza when you pick up a slice and that's just no fun at all. I also ask them to go a little light on the cheese because i prefer to taste all the ingredients. But speaking of flavor, my favorite pie probably has to be a simple Italian sausage and fresh mushroom. Oz' sauce is perfectly tomato'ey and not too sweet with just the right amount of seasoning. adding in the spiciness from the sausage and the earthiness from the mushrooms gives me a winning combination of flavors. Of the specialty pizzas, i really enjoy The White Pie...very mellow but a nice punch of herbal flavor from the basil. again, with the ricotta and fresh tomatoes, the pie will have a lot of density and moisture so it's best to ask for a well-done pie. Oz serves up a pretty mean lasagna, too. Other pluses for Oz are a decent beer list, Trivia on Thursdays and even some live entertainment on Saturdays. I love Oz' commitment to community. Oz offers fundraisers for schools, organizations, non-profits, etc., and give 20% of sales back to the organization. That's pretty rad, in my opinion. If you like to make pizza at home, you can pick up fresh dough from Oz, and it's super cheap. You get a medium-size order of dough for $2. That Boboli crap you find at the grocer is more than that. If Oz delivered, they'd get a 5-star rating from me. What a drag. Other than that, I got nothin' bad to say about the place. Go get a pie! read more

I've eaten here a few times and loved it. The pizza was great and I always felt I got what I paid for. I'm actually surprised I didn't already review Oz because I liked it so much but they almost received 3 stars. I've had a few issues with my pizzas lately which is the reason I subtracted a star. They've been just ok and not how I remember them when I first started eating here. Entirely too much cheese which is strange to say because its pizza and who doesn't want a good amount of cheese on their pizza, but it actually has taken away from every other aspect of good pizza to me like a good crust and a fair amount of toppings and good sauce. I like my pizza to have balance lol. But my last pizza had soooo much cheese on it that it was over flowing off of the actual pizza and onto the box with the oil leaking out of the box. Now here is why they earned an extra star from me. I brought this issue up to management and they were so great about it. There were no snarky comments or rudeness on there part which I have seen from management and owners who are obviously more concerned with getting money than actually keeping customers. They were very understanding and handled my complaint swiftly and I was compensated. I love businesses that take pride in having great customer service and Oz is definitely good for that. Just be careful ordering extra cheese cause you will definitely get EXTRA cheese (think pool of cheese). But it still is one of the better pizza restaurants in the area and I like them enough to continue ordering from here. read more

Pretty standard pizza joint. I heard lots of people rave about it, but frankly I wasn't that impressed. I got the lunch special which is two slices and a drink. I think it was something crazy like $8 or something. For lunch? There is nothing special about that. The pizza really was just average. I didn't even finish my food. And the customer service? Meh. I feel like they really didn't care if I walked off a cliff or not. Sure they don't don't do much more than drop food off at my table, but they couldn't even do that with a smile. I am sent down to what we teachers in Fulton County call "South County" a few times a year for trainings and whatnot. Usually I am by myself and never really knew where to eat lunch. I would end up at Chick-fil-a or Checkers (which was never good since I am not a fast food gal) . This time I before I went I mentioned it to a couple of people I worked with. They recommended Which Wich (which was awesome). That make me think that there just might be more places to eat that were more then just marginally good, which lead me to my old standby for recommendations...Yelp! Oz's pizza popped up and my faith in this system has been reinforced. Great food & a great atmosphere, what else would you want? I love the set up: order at the counter and take a seat. It was really nice to be able to order by the slice since I was with people I didn't know all that well and we wouldn't have been able to take left overs. The slices were huge and had just the right amount of toppings. They were greasy (in the good way) without being too much. I loved the thin crust! My only regret is not having the one slice w/ salad option. The lettuce looked fresh and crisp and I love it when restaurants use mozzarella cheese instead of yellow. read more

Great place! There are several locations. I have been to the East Point and Fairburn locations. Pros: - great pizza. Many varieties; slices and whole pies available - great lasagna. Sausage is my favorite. Takes a little longer to cook, but definitely worth it. You may want to take some home in a to-go box as it is quite filling -- or share/split with a companion. - appetizer salads are tasty too. I have had the house or traditional lettuce one as well as the Greek salad. - credit cards accepted Cons: - furniture is not most comfortable. It's older and tables wobble (ask the restaurant staff to help get yours leveled if too unbalanced). Booths and tables available. - parking is available in street. Sometimes it's a challenge to find parking, but I always have without too much difficulty. First and foremost, OZ is a huge supporter of its community. That, to me is such a big deal...and, the pizza is really great. During the spring and summer, the patio is marvelous and tons of space. I am not a smoker, and smoking is allowed outside, so if this is a problem for you, you may find yourself dodging the smoke rings. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. I tend to like thin pizza, and typically their dough is more on the thick side. What is important here though, is consistency in the product and Oz has that part together hands down They are very friendly towards people that want to hold gatherings or meetings in the restaurant, and as long as you can handle the busy atmosphere and the music...you will be fine. I wish that they delivered, but its only a short drive from our neighborhood and parking is generally very easy. read more

I love this place just because its a casual pizza joint. I always get a slice or two but it can get a bit pricey when you start adding toppings. There sweet tea is really good also. This is the type of place I can go sit at for hours, do my homework, watch tv, eat a couple of slices and have a nice time. Its located directly across from the marta which is another plus....although I have a car.....I'm kind of obsessed with Marta...lol! The pizza is cool. Not amazing. Not great. Just cool. This is a small mom and pop pizza joint and I'd have to say it was pretty good. I came here on a whim with friends last night and we were seated immediately. Our orders took a while, but I'm not complaining...I rather my food be fresh and hot than rushed and cold. Our waiter Derek (who I coincidentally went to school with) was cool and very laid back as usual. I ordered a calzone with eggplant and god I wasn't expecting it to be so huge! The other day I ordered a pepperoni pizza from Oz to go. And I almost forgot: I also ordered a chicken sub. (Because the sub was largely forgettable.) The order was ready on time. And the pizza was still hot and tasty by the time we sat to eat it. That pepperoni pizza was an exercise in simplicity being downright delicious. I guess there's really not a whole lot more to say after that. I suppose I could break it down and talk about the sauce or the cheese or even the pepperoni. I had a slice with Beef, Onion, Sun Dried Tomato and Spinach on it. The slices are pretty big and I was full after tackling it. It was wonderful! The crust was nice and thin the toppings were the perfect size for the slice. I thought it was some what similiar to Fellini's in taste. It came out very hot. My only negative is that it didn't have enough sauce on it. Hence the reason that I did not gve it a 5 Star. I just tried to Beef Calzone as well. It's delish! It's HUGE so you may get two meals out of it. I think that this will be my newest FAV for Pizza. Next time I will ask for more sauce since you need to use a fork any way to eat the slice. I should note that I happened to see JAMARCUS T. (I took a pic! LOL) here eating with some co-workers. They were all pleased with their meals as well. For about $6, you can get a few slices and a soda. The style and taste is somewhat similar to New York pizza. With fresh ingredients and dough, you'll find your way to OZ like Dorothy did. OZ Pizza is a good place to go if you live south of the city. Directly across from the Eastpoint Marta Station on the corner of Main Street and White Way, they open at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Downtown Eastpoint tends to get very crowded on early afternoon weekdays so, to avoid circling the area for parking, go in the late afternoon or evening. Decent pizza would be a 3.5 stars if possible. Atmosphere is okay nothing special. Service is pretty standard they take your order and deliver the pizza to your table about 15 mins later. Pizza is a thin crust New York style with a little crunch to it. Some places the crust gets a bit soggy and limp, not the case here. Ingredients all are good quality but again nothing special. Seems to be a little light on the sauce however that my be a personal preference. Prices are decent for what you get I had specialty slices and a fountain drink for eleven dollars. They had lunch deals for about 8 bucks. In the end I would hit this place if I was in the area but would not go out of my way to visit. read more

My family came here for dinner before headed to the Velodrome for the bike races tonight. We just shared a large "Mack" pizza- basically your combo pizza with a hint of kick from chili flakes and a spicier sausage. Back when there was an Oz location in Decatur (right next to Agnes Scott), it was my favorite pizza, hands down. Granted, this was more than 7 years ago or even longer since they closed that spot. Tonight's pizza was generously topped, which was great- but it was really doughy- Way too much crust (that we passed on eating) just hanging out, and the crust wasn't crispy like it used to be back at the old location. This place isn't bad, but I was hoping to get some pizza nostalgia that I ended up not getting. Sigh.
