Since the days of cavemen, where there is alcohol there is also a kebab stand. This one serves the drunken patrons of Caxton Street.
For over a decade now, the bars of Caxton Street have been barely scraping it in as a place to visit, or so I gather from the amount of patrons I've seen when driving past. I did go to The Caxton Hotel one afternoon during the week last year, and though it was quiet, this was at sharp odds with the usual night-time chaos and I quite enjoyed myself.
Back to the never-ending march of generations of Caxton Street Clubbing Patrons keeping places like Oz Kebab alive. Oz Kebab is a very casual, friendly set-up - it really is a stall, basically. And because those working at Oz Kebab are providing what patrons want (quick food), they're fortunately rarely the focus of any outdoor drunken biffs. (That's usually a patron vs. patron affair.)
I love food, but kebabs aren't at the top of my list of favourite items. For around $6-$8 I could alternatively get a large pizza slice around the corner and I'd prefer that. Or almost anything else, really. Something about the processed meat on the spindle, methinks. read more
