I'm a dancer and had some pretty tough knots in my legs, so she had her work cut out for her. I chose the 90 mins because of my extensive knots. I'll definitely be going back and will be recommending to friends.

You can imagine how over the moon I was to find this place in lil' Rhody. Thai massages are dry massages and involve a lot of gentle stretching and some acupressure. I typically leave energized and not sleepy. The massage quality is at par with what one would expect for this modality. I have no complaints here. The only setback is the service rate. This place, perhaps due to lack of competition, is pricey. This has prevented me from coming regularly. That said, if you've never had a Thai massage before and are curious about what makes it different--while not planning to visit Thailand soon, or any other state where there are more spas offering this service--then do visit Thai Tranquility Bodywork. It's worth being familiar with Thai massage, and this place does a good job.

It can be intense or even painful but if you like deep tissue work, this is it the place. I also did the 12 step structural integrity program which was interesting. The therapist here, Matt, follows a different approach called Rolfing or Structural Integration. This is NOT your typical relaxing, pleasing massage experience. You will get beat up, feel pain, and have muscles you didn't know existed stretched and strained. You will not have both sides treated an equal manner if they were not symmetrical to begin with. However, when you get up and walk around you'll notice you stand taller, look more even and feel better. You'll probably also need a glass of water and a moment to adjust when you get up. It's a trip because your body will need some time to get used to the changes made. Really this is more akin to physical therapy than massage, and you will really feel the difference. I've never found another massage therapist to be as knowledgeable and attentive to detail as Matt. I first went when I had a reoccurring neck injury, probably related to the long hours I spent in front of a keyboard at work. Matt not only fixed this at the time, but gave me exercises to do at home so I wouldn't have to come back. It worked, and I haven't had a repeat episode since. Every session begins with a line up, during which symmetry and possible conditions such as a hip rotation are evaluated. The therapist then makes a plan and gets to work on creating space where the body is tight or short, and works on lengthening those muscles and tendons. This is why therapy is not applied symmetrically and is not soothing-and why it works! He also offers a massage series, which works areas that might be considered bizarre until you try them. For example, the nostril massage was weird...gloved hand and lube kinda creeped me out...but actually helped me breath better, so I'd do it again. I highly highly recommend this style of "massage" for those with re-occurring muscle tension.
