Got a nice car and they were helpful with financing but the bait and switch. Between agreeing with the salesman for $500 down and the lady finalizing the paperwork the money down went to $1000. Then I was asked if anyone referred me to own a car and I said yes my daughter bought a car here and referred me (she came with me). After finishing the paperwork I we were told "I'll be back with a $200 referral check. She never came back and the next day I called to ask about never receiving the referral check and was told that due to a technicality my daughter might not get the referral check read more

Can't even enter the lot without being harassed lol The 1st salesman was respectful, but I let him know that I'd just like to look around in peace before I grab a salesperson. Once he made it clear that I wouldn't be allowed to walk around by myself wasn't an option, I thanked him and left. No biggie, right? Why did another sales guy start yelling at me from a distance that he's just doing his job? As if there was some sort of confrontation or argument. Some dudes just can't take a simple "no thank you," even when they're not involved. read more

I am still satisfied with a Mustang GT convertible and I have a lot of plans for it and I would of gotten a hardtop but they just keep adding up the price I would of got that 2017 Ford Mustang GT for 1700 but they wanted 2 more grand so it was 3K who can come up with that and told me to come back it was long as drive from 3hrs and didn't want to sell me the car but I ain't leaving until I get what I want to get I got what I wanted was Mustang because I am an American car collector and European and also JDM and USJDM get to buy all these cars for building and racing only.. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. This place is crooked, they also don't return calls, including you, Maddy J, who's responding to all of these reviews. I dropped off a letter on behalf of our client due to you sending him a car that was undrivable after he drove it to you for repair. Your service manager Ray is super rude, Gus was worthless, and you never responded to the letter we left for you. You're stating in all these responses here that you want to rectify situations but you don't. Do not go to this place, they will rip you off and leave you with a broken car. They also do not honor the "lifetime warranty" they claim to provide. Maddy J - how about you respond to the letter we left for you? We left it with Gus and I have a photo of him receiving it since he wouldn't sign for it. Each of your responses below is the same without any resolution. read more

Same story as many on here. Bought a car from here and wasn't asked if I wanted the alpha warranty, but was included. Ok, sure. When I drove off the lot, noticed one headlight was out (It was daytime and hard to see that it was out). They fixed that. I took my car to Niello in Sac because oil change light came on a few days later. They found a coolant leak, damn near broken motor mounts, and a few other things. I called Own a Car, they said use Alpha. They denied and didn't cover shit, except motor mounts. So I took to River Auto Park Auto Repair because that is where Own a Car sent me, they fixed these things, still have oil and coolants leaks. So repair after repair, same issues, and now engine light is also on. They do not do thorough inspections of their vehicles. The guy that sold me looked like I was annoying him because I wanted to look at other cars and could feel he was rushing and not happy I was looking around. I should've went with my gut feeling and never bought a car. BIGGEST regret. Oh and their loaners they have will also break down on their customers...as they get their cars worked on. And they do NOT reimburse you what they promise. Do not take their words, bunch of liars. read more

The worst car I ever bought in my life broke down 3 days after having it.Although they have been honoring their service and fixing it, I've had a problem every single month since I've owned it for the last 8 months. My car has now been in the shop 2 & 1/2 weeks slamming on the brakes in the middle of the road yet, there's no code so they won't fix it yet. They will not give me a rental or honoring a new vehicle. They are the worst place I've ever been too! read more

worst place to buy a car ever. I would strongly recommend going anywhere but here. they sold me a car that needed a transmission servicing but didn't bother to tell me that. I thankfully went and got new tires pretty quickly after purchasing the car and found the center hub nut for my right front tire sitting in the rim. I could have lost the tire and been seriously injured. Within a year or purchase the transmission was going out. they wouldn't help with that at all. after putting 5,000$ worth of work into it I have a car I can't drive at all, I called to ask if I could bring it in to trade it in for another car and they said no, that I'd just need to purchase another car and try to fix this one down the road. right! while making two outrageous car payments. no thank you! this place should absolutely be shut down. They sell shitty cars at high prices and then don't follow through with shit. zero stars!!! read more

These guys are as shady as people can get. My wife and I puchased a car there, and when we left it was already dark. We didn't realize it, but the windows were so darkly tinted we couldn't even see headlights in our rear view mirror. My wife got pulled over the next day and we found out the windows were so darkly tinted it was illegal and that it is illegal for them to sell a car with windows that dark in California. So we took the car back and they let us trade it for another car. We had the car for a month, and then my wife was diagnosed with a serious illness, so we asked them to buy it back after just a month. We had given them a $13,800 dollar down payment with our trade-in and cash. So after just 1 month, and 1,500 miles they want to give us $3,000 back out of $13,800 to buy the car back!!! Where is the justice in that? Wanting us to eat $10,800 bucks after just one month!!! So much for compassion and mercy. DON'T GO THERE!!! SHADY AND RUTHLESS!!! read more

My husband and I bought a 2020 lincoln corsair from them 3 months ago. We bought the portfolio warranty for an extra 3300. 2 weeks after we bought the car my husband got a flat went to put the spare on and there was no spare. Needless to say we had to leave the vehicle over night on the hwy and get out tire replaced. Then a month ago the charging service light came on and the car stopped working. We called the warranty place and got the run around. The called and spoke to Ray who told me that it was going to be a head ache to get the car towed to a shop because we were far from the dealership. He was suppose to call us back and never did. So we spoke to Gus and we finally just towed it at our expense. Wasn't provided a loaner so we were 1200 out of pocket for a rental. We finally got it to the shop and the warranty that we bought didn't cover all repairs. They not only didnt help get our car that we only had for 90 days to the shop but they ignored us and refused to help us at the beginning. The only good thing is they paid 408 for the remainder amount. But they fucking suck all the way around. We are filing against own a car. Not cool read more

As soon as you step on the lot you're bombarded with people coming at you. I was already pre approved from my bank and the guy who helped me told me my bank wouldn't finance me unless I put a large amount down. He came back with another car I wasn't interested in. I came in looking at an Accord and a Camry and he tried to get me into a Mercedes. Also, I had came here YEARS back with my husband and my info was in the system and he ran my credit again! Even though I was pre approved with my bank. I left there and went to Selma Auto Mall and got the car I wanted and guess what, my bank approved me, even though he told me they wouldn't. read more

Bought my truck with an evap problem they knew about. They said it'd be fixed, it's been over a week & still isn't fixed. When called, the manager told me he couldn't/wouldn't offer any accommodation. "I'm about to be done with you" is what I was told when I said he hadn't even offered up a simple apology. Terrible service. Full of lies. Just flat out rude. UPDATE: When I went to pick up my truck, my husband's car got a huge screw in it at the mechanic shop. The yard is not cleaned so don't drive your car back there. We were also promised a loaner car and when we called to ask about it, the 'service center manager wasn't there' so they couldn't get us the loaner. We were also told we'd get a call back with an update and the guy never called back. Overall, just really terrible customer service. Bought a car 3 months ago still haven't received my hard plates, nor my registration. I called DMV to get answers because LESLIE from own a car is so over whelmed with work and never gets back to me. Dmv stated the car had retro fines needed to be payed since 2024 and no one said anything. I finally spoke with Leslie and she straight out lied about DMV taking up to a year to send plates and registration tags were payed off long time ago. DMV from Sacramento called me and told me that as of March 17 2026 nothing has been payed. I spoke with the bank that financed my car and also having issues to locate Leslie. She gave them a different story. I want to refinance my car but I can't with out my registration. The temp paper tags expired and I already got pulled over. read more

Don't know what kind of dealer can't figure out DMV fees before selling someone a car, but these are the guys here. Then they send you letters demanding you pay them for the fees that they should have included in the original sale, but we've already signed an agreement for the price. You try and call them, they say that Leslie is the only one who handles the DMV fees, but despite numerous calls and voicemails she won't reach back to you. Last call I made they hung up on me. I understand everyone may have a different experience when purchasing a used car. I read many bad reviews that seem more circumstantial than representative of the overall reputation and trustworthiness of the business. But I can only speak for my own experience. I needed a fuel-efficient car and my budget was rather limited. I can say these people did everything in their power to make it possible. I don't believe other places would have done what Own a Car did for me considering my situation. Also, yes, the car had a small problem. The tire sensor warning was on. They told me they aired the tires before I left and that the sensor warning should reset. Well, it didn't, but that was no problem. I called them and they just told me to come by and take the car to their service center. It was so incredibly easy to get that done. So, I feel it's very common for used cars to be showing minor problems and all a customer has to do is talk to them before lashing out with 1-star reviews. I felt their staff was very friendly. They do have "aggressive" sales tactics in a good way, which means they won't stop trying until they get what you need and want. It's a win-win in my opinion. My advice for anyone buying a car is to look at the Carfax report and test drive the car. And should the car show problems immediately after buying it, just give your salesperson a call to resolve the issue. They offer different types of warranties too. I do recommend this dealership, and I will go to them first next time I am in the market for a vehicle. A shoutout to my salesperson Sammy and the financing people who worked out a miracle for me. Thank you! I'm getting an average of 34mi/gal on the highway!! Now that's what I needed. Thank you!! read more

I would not buy a car from these guys. They are so fake and will lie directly to your face. I bought a truck on Saturday test drove just fine. Drove it home transmission started slipping, which would be within the 48 hours that you legally have to return a vehicle. They told me they would take care of it didn't really worry about. I brought a friend to buy another truck from them. They screwed her over too three weeks later. I'm still dealing with the transmission problem. They told me they would switch me out the truck which they brought three trucks to me to look at all three of them had way more miles on and scratched and beat up and cost I'm saying is they will lie directly to your face and act like your friend a car from them go to a real car dealership they're fake as hell read more

this experience is horrible they can't fix cars they keep making excuses please don't buy a car from this horribe place

Worst first time buying experience I have ever had. My wife and I went in looking to buy a truck for my work and daily driver, after looking we had our eyes set on truck in the lot. After asking questions and discussing price, I had told the dealer that we wouldn't test drive anything unless we were pre approved, after dealer said that we were we took it for a test drive and after returning we weren't actually approved. It gets worse when they brought a truck from a "warehouse". We looked at the truck and were satisfied with it even though there was a big difference between what the other truck had come with such as modifications, after getting the paperwork and signing for it we noticed that the dealer adjusted the price slightly lower than truck we originally wanted. Our truck was priced well over 20k more than the truck was actually worth. Sticking us with long term payments for a truck worth way less including no detail on the vehicle and modifications to the vehicle that was not disclosed. Very shady place. read more
