Anyway I got a 60m massage with hot stones+towels and back walking and she was very thorough to focus on nerves and pressure points. I have a really bad back and she found all the knots and worked on them without causing immense pain(we've all had a massage where you suffer in silence a bit I think haha). She did not ask me to prepay and also didn't have me add a tip automatically(I offered $20 on my own anyhow). I only note that because I saw a lot of other reviews stating otherwise but that wasn't my experience. Anywho I'll be back!

I did the 30-minute foot massage--15 minutes per foot--with extra attention to my ankles and calves, which was a nice bonus for $38. She didn't ask me, she told me. I said that's uncomfortable, I was thinking more like $7-$10 for a tip. She said no one would massage for 45 minutes for a $10 tip. And that I'm crazy. I asked if I could pay now and tip after, she said no and gave me back my card. What kind of late night massage place are running?! The fuck. Add your "worth" to your prices to avoid people going out of their way to get denied because you chose what tip they leave. Weird shit!

Place is clean and simple/peaceful. It looks like there's chair massage up front. They offer couples massage also. I was led to a room to undress and lay face down. The therapist asked if I liked medium or hard pressure so I told her my preference. She did a great job with where I need it to be hard vs medium. Warning - at some point the therapist is likely to get on the bed to grab the bars on the ceiling to massage you with their leg/feet! This isn't unheard of in Asian massages but more novel for Western massage. Barefoot massage has broken that barrier for Alaska I think - and let me tell you it feels good, especially if you need that additional pressure. Surprisingly, only minor soreness after given the pressure she used. They take credit card too!

Firstly, He is NOT located at the Abbott Loop tanning salon and when I spoke to Tanasy the day of…read moremy appointment they informed me he hasn't worked out of that location in MONTHS, they barely remember the masseuse I was talking about. He is working out of his apartment front room that has been converted into his studio. Thing is, the location is sketch and the exterior of the building is even worse. Boarded up windows, I didn't even feel comfortable enough walking in. Let alone, taking any article of clothing off for a professional deep tissue massage. I bought this on groupon, I should have done more homework about who this person was and maybe found out that he actually was working out of the salon before I purchase (who thought you would need to go to those lengths to fact check). In general, it was very hard to get him to call/text me back to schedule an appointment in the first place and then after the appointment was scheduled, I was told that he had moved to another location, which was fine. I thought maybe it could of been a downtown residential converted to commercial, but I'm not comfortable walking into a strangers home, I don't care how professional, when the exterior of the building looks like the condition in which this one did. 736 E 3rd Ave. That's where you'll be getting your massage if you purchased a Groupon or scheduled an appointment. So, his website, the information provided on groupon, and the information provided on yelp are all false. Just an FYI for anyone out there. I saw that he received stellar reviews from last year, which is why I purchases the groupon in the first place. Save your money, go to a reputable location where you feel comfortable and safe. I might be more understanding if this wasn't the first experience, but at the end of the day, he is providing false information and this was not what I purchased and I will not be doing business with North Star Chiropractic in the future. I tried to leave this review on groupon, but was unable. I hope other people see this before they purchase too.

Best massage I've had in Anchorage. More expensive than other places, but you get what you pay for,…read moreand massage is one of those things I think is worth paying more for higher quality. I've seen more than one massage therapist here and they all do an excellent job. You fill out an intake form before your first appointment so your massage can be tailored to fit your needs. And unlike other places I've visited, you actually get the full amount of time for which you pay. Other massage therapists I've seen wouldn't go for the full hour of my appointment but these ones do. Besides the massage quality, what stands out to me is the atmosphere of the place. The lobby is very calming with a water fountain and essential oils and other things for sale. The private massage rooms are just as nice. Soft lighting, pleasant music, and plenty of space around the massage table so you don't feel cramped. If you're a frequent visitor they have "memberships" that allow you to purchase multiple massages, and you can divide the payments. I would do that if I wasn't paying back hundreds in student loans every month. So for now this is a once a month "treat yo'self" kinda thing for me.
