Nichole, along with a helper, did a last-minute cleaning of our new, very dirty home, for which I am very grateful. They both worked very hard for many hours on spur-of-the-moment notice. So far, so good. I totally credit them for tackling a big job and working diligently. But then, the story gets weird.
After they left, I noticed some things Nichole said she'd do but didn't. I called and she said she'd be able to come by in a couple of days to finish up. The day came and went. So did the next day. In the meantime, I noticed several more places that were missed, especially in drawers and cabinets, where, if everything had been oval in shape rather than with corners, all would have been well. But drawer corners still contained crumbs and shelving corners were still dirty. I've now found even more of these, but I digress.
I called Nichole at the end of the second day of not hearing from her and her not showing up. She "explained" (in quotes because her tone was harsh) that I knew she was totally booked. Well, no, I didn't. Why did she tell us that she'd be back? She also refuted all my claims that certain areas were not cleaned well. Not sure how she could refute things that I actually saw, and she made no offer to come back and take a look.
When I explained to her that the sides of the refrigerator were still dirty and that they hadn't cleaned behind it, she told me that they "...don't move anything heavier than 50 pounds." OK, well first, the refrigerator is on wheels and moves quite easily. Second, there were at least two of us here while they worked, and either one of us could have moved it IF we'd been asked. We also discussed the walk-in pantry, which Nichole had told me she didn't have time to do. Fair enough. But this time she said the reason she didn't clean it was because "...we don't do construction cleans." Huh? My brother removed some shelving from the walls-unscrewed them and took them outside. No mess whatsoever. Construction?
There's more but I'll stop here.
I want to be very clear that these two women worked really hard while they were here. My issue is with the later denials and changing of the story and Nichole's refusal to refund some of the money I spent, though she refused to come back and finish (after saying she WOULD come back). Also, when I was on the phone with her, she did something I've seen in movies but never experienced myself, which is to start talking very, very fast-yelling almost-and not stopping, so that I could barely speak at all-a wall of words I couldn't get beyond. I hung up on her because there was no true conversation happening, just a barrage.
This was all in contrast to the people we hired to clean the house we moved from. Jennifer Beaudeen and company did a thorough, amazing job. They cleaned behind the refrigerator and the stove and kept cleaning until everything was impeccably clean. They did everything they said they would, and they did it with cheerful attitudes. Jennifer has 20 years experience and knows what it takes to run a successful cleaning business. read more
