I highly recommend Owens dental and Dr. Brad Packer. My daughter goes to CSU and had a filling come lose during lunch on a friday before a holiday weekend and she was very uncomfortable. As a parent it is nerve wracking trying to find care for your child 1,200 miles away! I called 5 dental offices before reaching E.J. who told me they were full that day but she would ask Dr. Packer if he could fit her in her and he was happy to see her. First off........Very friendly staff, First time in Dr. Owens office. After going back I got x-rays, gum spacing tests, and various other tests. My hygienist was also very friendly, but wanted to add $130 out of pocket (80% already covered by my insurance) to my $0 bill for a "deep clean". First saying that only the bottom one side needed it, then goes on to say I could knock this out in two visits. Two visits?...... After declining the "deep clean", I was told it's a deep clean or no clean........That a regular cleaning wouldn't benefit me.....MORE THAN NO CLEAN. Then I asked if I could do A deep clean next time, so you know...I get my teeth cleaned. I kid you not she's says, "great question, everybody asks that... but no". Dr. Owen came in and told me I don't have any cavities based on my X-ray (win) , but he saw a shadow which is pointing toward one potentially coming or hidden (less win). Tim is as cool as the other reviews describe him. In the office 2 hours, got an X-ray and exam........no clean, and have to find a dentist to clean my teeth (apparently not going to find one.......). Super happy to have taken off work this afternoon! read more

If COVID-19 has you nervous about going to see a dentist have no fear Dr. Owens and his entire staff are here. Their attention to every detail made me feel very comfortable and safe. Once I arrived they met me at my car for paperwork and a temperature check. Everyone I came in contact with wore a mask and gloves. My dental assistant actually wore two masks and a face shield. I've had a dentist-phobia for 45 years, and if you're one who doesn't enjoy trips to the dentist, you must give Dr. Owens a try. He's very professional and thorough. The entire office staff is warm and welcoming. More importantly, they do everything possible to make the visit as comfortable as possible. I cannot say enough good about Dr Owens and the staff at Owens Dental. I am a basket case when it comes to dentistry work on my teeth. Dr Owens is very kind about that and he has hired a competent staff that is every bit as kind and understanding as he is. I needed a crown, I've had three before so I knew what to expect. What I did not expect was the deep respect Dr Owens showed me in the face of my anxiety. He gave me sedation options and helped me choose the best route for me. It was painless and supportive and I survived. That was phase one of my experience. I pre-paid for the procedure and found a credit on my card about 3 weeks later that I did not expect. When I called to ask about it I found out they did not need to charge me as much as my pre-pay so they refunded the difference. I would never had known I was due the refund and it was only by their true honesty that I saw a credit on my card. That was phase two. The crown came in, they had to numb me up to do the replacement but did so gladly and made quick work of the process. The crown fits perfectly (not all of my crowns have) and there was no 'breaking in' period or residual pain for weeks afterwards (as two of my crowns were). That was phase three. I highly recommend Dr Owens for his technical skills, his wonderful bedside manner and his great staff. read more

Update: A week after I left this review, Sarah left me a voicemail that she spoke with Delta Dental had and that they told me wrong and that if I new the names I should reach out to Delta Dental so that they could use my situation for training. When I called back, I explained that I went to 2 different dental offices that offered the PPO rates (one of which they recommended for our daughter) and that on each of the calls with Delta (at least 3) I was told the same information about our plan. She then said that because of discrimination purposes that they couldn't offer one patient one rate and another patient a different rate. She said that their office decided to charge the Premier rate with all reimbursement plans. When I said, that they could have charged the PPO rates, she retorted with, "we could have charged UCR fees (more for cash patients or out of network fee schedule and more expensive), but we chose to go middle of the road and I know this can all be very confusing." Their choice to choose to charge patients Premier rates does not mean that I am wrong about my plan. I explained that they have they have the right to charge whatever fees they like (within their allowable fee schedules), but telling me that I can see their PPO dentist and get the PPO rate and then trying to charge me Premier rates and telling me I don't understand my plan is condescension at it's finest. To sum up the conversation, we went from you were told wrong, to you don't understand, to it's our office policy and we could have charged more. Know your plan and advocate for yourself. As an example for our plan, a filling for a rear tooth (2 surfaces) with Premier rate is $228 and with PPO it is $145 and UCR or out of network is $272-306. With our plan, we pay 50% so we want to go to a dentist who will honor the PPO rates. Packer is a PPO/Premier dentist and Owens is a Premier dentist. We saved almost $600 for our daughter's dental work at the pediatric dentist because they honored the PPO rates even though they are a Delta Dental PPO/Premier dental office as well. The dentists here may be good, but know that if you are a reimbursement plan, they will charge the higher Premier rates. We have a reimbursement plan which is unique, but allows us to have a broader network of dentists. If your family has dental insurance through CSU than likely you have this plan. Dr. Owens is a Premier dentist which charges higher rates. Dr. Packer is a PPO dentist which means the services are the same, but are less expensive because of the negotiated rates with Delta Dental. When I called to make the appointment with Tammy I was very clear that I wanted to switch from Dr. Owens (current patient of his) to Dr. Packer and asked for the PPO rates and she had said that wouldn't be a problem. I asked her to send the information over to me so that I knew what my portion would be. When I got the amount it was the Premier rates. When I asked her why she didn't give the PPO rates she said that both doctors are the same (which is untrue) and said that their Delta Dental rep said that they are allowed to charge the higher rates if they want to because of my plan. Keep in mind, we qualify for PPO rates and said multiple times I wanted the PPO rate when making the appointment. Tammy acted ignorant to my request and said she must have misunderstood why I was switching dentists. When I asked to speak to the office manager or the bookkeeper, she refused to pass me on and told me that they would tell me the same thing. She said if I wanted PPO rates that I would have to go to another office even though they have a PPO dentist on staff. If you are a patient here, I highly recommend you familiarizing yourself with your dental insurance policy because the office will charge the higher rates to line their pockets. Please know your policy before booking an appointment so that you're not taken advantage of and pay more than necessary out of your pocket. Even the nicest dentists have policies that are not to your benefit. read more

No one loves the dentist, but the office of Dr. Owens definitely makes the experience quick, easy, and pleasant. Front office staff is kind and knowledgeable about insurance options. At my first exam, I was hugely impressed by the attention to detail of Dr. Owens. He spent a lot of time examining my teeth, taking measurements of my jaw, and talking with me about my options for a possible jaw issue due to TMJ pain I had been having, in addition to regular dental cleaning. The exam was the most in-depth exam I've ever gotten at any dentist. After 3 other dentists waved me off and said I grind my teeth, Dr. Owens suggested I see an orthodontist as my jaw alignment likely called for a more involved treatment. He spent time going over my options and how treatment might look as well, and referred me to the orthodontist across the street. Turns out I need jaw surgery and braces, so I'm thankful for his great referral and attention to detail. I returned for my second cleaning recently and again was welcomed by the hygienists who do the cleaning and do a fantastic job without any painful poking around. The cleaning is also more in-depth than I've experienced elsewhere, and they have options for appointments not only during typical work hours, but after work as well. The new office is lovely and they send just enough emails and mailings to keep you informed, but not overwhelmed. Definitely recommend this dentist if you're looking for a positive change! read more

Few things are as uncomfortable and scary as going to the dentist. I put off going to the dentist for a long time because of this, but after one visit at Owens Dental with Dr. Tim Owens, my mind was put at ease, even with what lied ahead for me. Tim assessed the damage (two chipped teeth, unhealthy gums) and mapped out a plan with options. After a deep clean to truly assess the damage before doing anything cosmetic, a plan was put in place, and we were off. I chose to have my front four teeth replaced, and although that was a scary prospect, it couldn't have gone smoother with GREAT communication and flexibility throughout the process. I've been going to the same dentist since I was 13 in the Broomfield area. I moved to Fort Collins for college and I was so nervous about finding a dentist as good as the one I'd been going to for so long because I'm very picky about dental work. I found Owen's dental through google and I don't have insurance so I was hesitant at first because it was a little bit pricier than other dental places I found, however you definitely get what you pay for if not more. Dr. Owen's office has exceeded my expectations in every way. Dr. Owen's front office staff is so kind and easy to work with, they got me scheduled very easily, answered all of my questions, and were very friendly, professional, and approachable. I wish I could remember the name of my hygienist from my first appointment but she was so wonderful and made the whole experience so much more bearable, I felt listened to and she was very gentle when cleaning around my sensitive areas but she was still able to give me a really great clean. As for my second appointment, I had to get two cavities filled, I've always hated getting cavities filled, I get over stimulated very easily especially when I have more than one person working in my mouth and with noises and needles. Dr. Owen and his lovely assistant Julia made my experience today feel like a spa appointment rather than a cavity filling procedure. First of all the office is super nice and beautiful, they turn on Netflix during your visit with nature scenes and nice music with no gross harsh fluorescent lights which makes the whole experience 10x better. Julia was so kind and sweet she offered me a blanket, she kept checking in on me, she was engaging, and helped distract me from my nerves. All of their prep work made it so that I felt nothing the entire procedure, not even the numbing needle and they made my anxiety 10x better. They worked quickly, diligently, and I didn't become overstimulated at all which is very rare for me at the dentist. I have seen Dr. Owens for about a little over a year and have seen him numerous times. Dr. Owens is very caring about your dental health. Dr. Owens doesn't give you the harsh grief that a lot of dentists will about how much you brush and floss. I have had a horrible time with my teeth and he has accommodated me above and beyond. He gets I am a college student and works with me to get my teeth the proper health while knowing that I can't afford a lot. Every time that I have had to come in on an emergency he always finds at least 5 minutes to talk to me about what is going on. Also his entire staff is so nice! If you are looking for a fantastic dentist, Dr. Tim Owens is the one. His cosmetic dentistry skills are absolutely amazing, he and his staff are very friendly, and his office is state of the art. I live in California and my daughter attends Colorado State Univ. She slipped on ice and broke her front two teeth in half. She was devastated and feared that she would never again have the same beautiful smile and teeth. We didn't know anyone in Fort Collins and searched the web for a cosmetic dentist. Dr. Owens credentials were impressive; his staff was friendly and accommodating, and his customer reviews were great. So we decided to give him a try. What I didn't know was the impact he would have on my daughter's life. His staff was friendly, reassuring, and fit us in the day we called. I used to love going to the dentist, and visiting Tim Owens was the worst experience I have had. He was extremely over priced and he did such a poor job that I couldn't chew on the left side of my mouth for about a year. As a new client, they require you to meet with Dr. Owens and the receptionist for what feels like an interview process. He told me that my teeth looked ok, but a few minutes before I was supposed to leave, he changed his mind as told me I needed five fillings. I went in to have the procedure done, and the entire time Dr. Owens and his assitant were having personal conversations. He messed up the filling, had to drill again to fix it. When I left the office, I had a cut on my gums and I couldn't chew. The procedure was so expensive that it used up my entire dental allowance (from the insurance) for the entire year and we even had to pay a significant amount of money out of pocket. I had also gone in for a cleaning and the dental hygenist was very rough when cleaning my teeth. My gums were very sore, and she was kind of rude about it. I had asked if there was another way to do the cleaning and she reponded as if I never take care of my teeth. If your looking for a quality dentist, in my opinion this office is very expensive and not worth the money. read more
