Comfort Dental: Dentistry with a side of "Oh, we forgot to mention..."…read more I have never dealt with a dental office that made something as straightforward as getting dental work done feel this shady, frustrating, and unnecessarily difficult. The biggest issue is the complete lack of transparency when it comes to insurance and pricing. I was given a price and told what I was paying, with no clear indication that I was only paying part of the actual cost. Then I show up for my NEXT appointment and suddenly I'm being told, "Oh, you only paid half." Excuse me? That is information I should have been given before I agreed to anything and certainly before walking out of the office believing I had paid what I was quoted. If the amount I'm responsible for changes because of insurance, tell me upfront. Don't let me find out at the next appointment when I'm already financially committed. That isn't transparency -- that's a terrible way to communicate pricing to a patient. And when I tried to get answers, the experience somehow got worse. The staff were incredibly rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, and there seemed to be absolutely no willingness to take responsibility or simply say, "We could have communicated that better." Instead, it felt like the responsibility was constantly being pushed somewhere else. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling less like a professional dental office and more like dealing with a pawn shop: "Here's the price today... oh, by the way, there's another amount you'll owe later." Except this is a DENTIST. There is a certain level of professionalism, honesty, communication, and excellence that I expect when someone is providing medical care. I don't expect free dental work. I don't expect special treatment. I expect to be told what I'm paying, why I'm paying it, and what my insurance is actually covering. That should not be an unreasonable expectation. Dental work is expensive enough without having to play detective with your own bill. If you're considering Comfort Dental, I would strongly recommend asking for everything in writing -- exactly what your insurance is expected to cover, exactly what you owe, and whether there will be any additional charges later. Don't assume the number they give you today is necessarily the full amount you'll be responsible for. The worst part isn't even the money. It's the lack of trust. Once I feel like I have to question whether I'm being given the complete story about pricing and insurance, I have no reason to feel comfortable putting my dental care in that office's hands. NO STARS IF IT WERE AN OPTION A dentist's office should leave you feeling taken care of, not taken advantage of. Never again. I came in expecting a dentist. I left feeling like I needed a receipt, a lawyer, and a forensic accountant.

I had been experiencing some blinding pain and scheduled an appointment for a dentist to look over my teeth and help identify the cause - this insurance coordinator booked me 10 days out full well knowing and approving me paying out of pocket. Less than a day before my appointment, she called and left me a voicemail simply stating they would not be able to see me tomorrow or ever. When I called back to inquire, the receptionist and insurance coordinator became agitated and defensive going so far as to raise her voice over the phone with phrases such as "are you serious?" and "I don't know what to tell you". I did not once raise my voice or speak disrespectfully to the staff. Shame I never got to interact with the dentists or hygienists as they come highly recommended. Would not recommend this dental office to anybody due to the unaccommodating nature and overall lack of ethicality handling a situation with an individual experiencing extreme distress due to dental related pain.

The assistant was experienced, professional but most importantly she was kind, gentle and friendly as she took my full set of xrays. The doctor came in and he considered all of my concerns after checking my medical history. He did a cancer screening and checked my gums in addition to evaluating my xrays. I never felt rushed, yet I did see their concern for my dental care. The dental hygienist, Jamie was super gentle. My husband, daughters, their family members all go to this office. I highly recommend this office. A big thanks to the staff for making me feel comfortable at a dentist office!

They said there was a 6 month wait, but after 6 years (bad me, I know), I decided to wait it out. I arrived my first visit and had the best dental visit of my life - almost no pain (X-Rays suck when the plastic hits the bones in your mouth, that's inevitable). I made my follow-up appointment for six months right then and there. Ever since then, I've had the pleasure of having Chelsie as my hygienist and will request her if possible, for every visit. She's friendly and interested in her patients' lives while not asking them questions while she has metal tools in their mouths. I've never had a pain issue when she's been working with me. Angela works the front desk and has been beyond helpful with me from making my first appointment, through changing my insurance and ensuring I was covered by the new company. She's friendly and makes calls and texts to confirm things when I had any questions with no hesitation and complete honesty. Everyone who works for Dr. Buxton (and Dr. Buxton himself, obviously) has made me a customer for life! I've recommended this place to all of my family members and they are on the waiting list!

They signed me up for their loyalty program for patients who pay out of pocket and up front which makes their already reasonable prices even more affordable. At my cleaning, Nicki seated me right on time and took amazing care of my teeth. She was also very patient and kind about navigating a full mouth series of x-rays despite my gag reflex! Then Dr Buxton came in to do an exam and talk to me about a couple concerns I had. The office was sparkling clean and I felt very safe there despite the ongoing pandemic. I definitely received five star service and am so thrilled to have found a great dental office!!! Thanks guys.

I also left without my earrings that I had to remove for x-rays. After leaving, I had time to review the primary treatment plan and then had questions to ask. I called and asked if I could stop by the office to pick up my earrings and ask Dr. Merritt a few questions about my treatment. I was told that I would need to be put back in the chair and charged $75 over and above the over $10,000 estimate. When I questioned why was, I was told there are other periodontists in Fort Collins. I started to ask her another question and realized that I just didn't want to deal with this rude and money-hungry doctor. I will go to someone else for sure.
