You get many options to choose from. We needed 4 velux skylights and a roof. Owen is a certified velux installer and recommended by them as well, so it was a no brainer to have the roof installed with the skylights. They sent out a crew and finished the roof and skylights in one day! We also opted for new gutters and downspouts with the "gutter dome" leaf guard system that they are also certified on installing. That was completed on the 2nd day. I've worked in the trades my entire life and I can tell you there is not a better company than Owen. 10 stars for sure. Highly recommended! read more

We used Owen Enterprises recently when we replaced our roof and gutters. They did a phenomenal job! It turned out a number of plywood boards needed to be replaced, and they took care of this very efficiently. They also cleaned up our property afterwards so that there was virtually no sign left of all the work they had performed, except for a very attractive roof! The gutters and gutter leaf guards were also installed very well and the final product looked awesome. In the end, their price was very competitive and we felt we got a great job for a decent price. I have used them in the past for an older house, and they did a tremendous job on that house as well. We will always use Owen Enterprises for our roofing work going forward. read more

It been an interesting summer... we have had some hot days and we have had some rainy days. some of these events where the rain was coming down sideways was what my wife and I could only describe as a monsoon. Well on one of these occasions we woke up to a kitchen full of water. The stove and the counter tops were flooded. Upon inspection we concluded that the water was coming in from an area somewhere around the range hood vent. although the damage to our ceiling drywall was superficial, it needed to be taken care of right away. In my attempt to call Owen Enterprises (the company who originally installed and has been maintaining our roof) I accidentally dialed Scott's cell phone. I was surprised when he answered. I apologized and asked which number I should have called. His response "Hey Mike, it's not a problem. Tell me what you need and I'll take care of it." well... That afternoon Martin was out and inspected the roof. Scott called me with an estimate which was very reasonable considering what we might have been facing. He told me what Martin found and what was needed. Scott even explained what steps Martin would take to insure a solid seal. I want to say that the roof was repaired by late afternoon. That evening another round of storms rolled through which lasted throughout the night into morning with heavy downpours. needless to say... we were high and dry as there was not a drop of water anywhere. Scott Owen and his team saved us. It's not every day that you deal with people that REALLY care, let alone a business. I recommend Owen Enterprises for roofing, skylights, windows, and siding the following reasons: Scott Owen is extremely knowledgable about all aspects of roofing/siding/windows, materials and installation, and so is his staff. He educated me on the complexities of roofing and the fact that a shingle warranty has no value without qualified installers. I had his firm install three 2x6 foot skylights and one 4x4 foot skylight. They also install a 30 year roofing shingle, six feet of ice/water barrier, and larger gutters and downspouts. On the day of the installation I was pleased with how fast and efficiently his team of twelve people removed shingles, installed ice shield, positioned skylights and installed new shingles. The gutters were essentially custom-cut right in my yard with a gutter cutting machine the brought in one of their trucks. It's been over a year since the installation. No leaks and the skylights have made a dramatic impact on my mood during winter months. I learned that Scott Owen doesn't give estimates, he gives quotes. Scott Owen listened to our needs, gave awesome suggestions on color, trim, and siding options. He gave suggestions on how to improve the curb appeal of our property. They recently finished our job and I can't say enough about the team that came out. Our siding team was led by Luke. They are meticulous, polite, respectful, diligent. The project occurred during Covid so we had plenty of time ( as did the neighbors) to watch the quality of their work. I'm truly sorry to be posting an unfavorable review. We used Owen Enterprises about four years ago to repair a leaking ice dam on our roof, and they did a stellar job. When part of a tree fell on our roof this past summer, Owen was the first place we called to check our roof, and repair our shingles, gutters, and gutter guards. To make a long-story short, we played phone tag for the better part of four months (yes, FOUR months), explaining over and over again what work we needed to be completed. During that time, we continued to wait--we thought we were waiting for the best--expecting to move to the next step in the process, but despite a visit from a roofer and a call from owner Scott, he never came out to give us an estimate. We've moved on with another contractor, trying to repair the damage before the worst of winter weather, and have received the kind of customer service one would expect. If our job was too small for Owen, if they were too busy, whatever--I wish they would have been up front with us so we could pursue another contractor sooner. Of course I realize I should have. I don't know what else to say: Owen does fantastic work... if you can get them to come out and do it. We are terribly disappointed by this experience--clearly our business was insignificant. read more

I called Owen because I needed help with some ductwork to my roof in my attic prior to a closing. My time frame was limited and the job small. Kelly the office manager was very understanding of my problem and promised to see if she could work it into the schedule. She advised me to keep checking other companies in the meantime. Within two days she had a team at my house and the fan exhausts were installed. The customer service was excellent, the workmanship very professional and I was highly satisfied with Owen Enterprises. We had Owen Enterprises take off two layers of shingles, replace some of the boards and completely reroof our home. Their estimate was done using software that imitated our roof so it was completely accurate; the men working on the roof were polite and cleaned up everything after they were done. We had a leak about a year after the roof was replaced, in between the original house and an addition. They sent someone over right away to check it out - it turned out to be our issue because a tree overhanging a flat part of the roof had built up needles and such - but he cleaned it out anyway! Great company, a little hard to get them to come out for an estimate but they're worth it. They are especially good with older homes. read more

The windows themselves seem fine. My office seems cooler now when the afternoon sun hits the front of the house. However, on the exterior, the white window frames kind of stand out too much from the rest of the house in terms of color. They told me that to get another color (almond for example) would have added several thousand to the bill. I did not get the same impression or information from Windows Universe when we got our quote from them on non-white windows. When it was time for the installer to leave, he rushed through explaining to me how to open up the double hung windows for cleaning. We previously had crank windows. They continued working outside on the installation of the front windows even when it was lightning and pouring outside. They arrived to measure the windows as promised They came out to replace a screen when promised but didn't have a replacement screen with them. When it came time to pay the remaining 50% after installation was completed, the installer was unable to take my credit card as payment so he had to find someone back in the office to take my payment information over the phone. Since their office closed at 4:00pm on a Friday, it took him a while to find someone. read more

The scheduler is not helpful, they don't return calls for a week or longer, and even when begging for a proposal, they couldn't be bothered to provide me with one. I cannot post on the work ethic or how knowledgeable this company is about roofing because I never received a call back. I had to leave 2-3 messages on a voicemail explaining my urgent situation after a tree had fallen on my roof during a wind storm. For a company that advertises free estimates and claims to be the 'best contractor in all of Chicago and suburbs' via their website, I was highly dissatisfied with their lack of professionalism and their inability to simply call a person back who is in need of their service. I waited over two weeks now for a return of my calls and they cannot seem to give a potential customer the time of day. Therefore, I called another company who not only called me back, but came to my house the very next morning to assess damage.
