Keep in mind- this decision occured at 5 pm and we were 25 miles away from Huston. My brother and I were dye hard skaters back in the days- 1990's and now my son who is 15 yrs does it. I must say- after being in traffic for a long time- it was worth every gallon and the constant stop and go traffic. Once we arrived- the shop was open and two employees were present. Immediately we were welcomed and we began talking "skate or die" lingo. The two fellas were cool as hell and informative with educating my son. The gear purchased : We ended up buying Thunder Bushings 97, Thunder Bushings 90, Southside Slabs Hardware, Bones Big Balls Reds Bearings, Spitfire Wheels F4 Conical and Stickers! This place was FREASH and Cool!

The owner (?) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I am a beginning skater ready to buy my…read morefirst figure skates, but I have wide feet and was very concerned about the fit. He took one look at my foot shape and said there were four options: one cheaper figure skate, one high end figure skate, special orders, or that hockey skates are easier to get in a wider size. Then he explained different factors that go into getting a good fit, and different things they can do to improve fit. The first skates he brought out were close to good, but needed some more space on one spot. They were able to modify them so they no longer were tight and I left after about half an hour later with skates. I'm glad I was able to find something that worked because there is a fitting fee "up to $85" if they work with you and you don't buy skates. Which is reasonable for the time and expertise, but would be disappointing.
